deerokus
By the end I'd completely lost track of who anybody was, what faction they worked for and what their goals were. Partly I think that's deliberate as they're meant to be a bunch of interchangeable scumbags, and the final stages of the game make it pretty clear that you're on your own out there. It is I think. You're a merc who doesn't really give a toss about the conflict beyond who is paying you, and it's all about Man's inhumanity and all that. It tries to be a wee bit like Heart of Darkness in places, which I liked. Well, Heart of Darkness with loads of guns and explosions.
misterSquare
I'm nearly at the end of this I think - it is dragging a teeny bit now, mainly because I'm losing the enthusiasm to mix up my approaches to missions. My sniper rifle/rpg launcher/MP5 combo works wonders under nearly any circumstances, so I don't really see the point in trekking miles out of the way to a gun depot to swap it around for something else. I don't think the Act 2 landscape helps much either - its far too awkward to traverse around the central area, with lots of impassable mountain ranges that make navigation a pain. I'd *kill* for a little plane to zoom about in - would make it so much more manageable. Its been pretty awesome overall though - definitely one of the most robust feeling and atmospheric sandbox games I've ever played. If they do a sequel in a similar vein, I'd love them to go even more freeform and go down the STALKER/Crackdown route: have the final game boss/objective/whatever actually existing in the world from the start, so you spend the game building up your army of allies & equipment, and then make the final assault whenever you see fit. Raane
Got sick of the stealth being arse. I've opted for the scoped assault rifle, Normally my loadout consists of the handheld grenade launcher, the druganov and a PKM, now i'm switching for the next few gunstore missions to IED, Scoped assault rifle and RPG. Nice and easy to blow up the entire convoy at once, then pick off anyone who comes a knocking. Might use the grenade launcher, scoped AR and dart rifle later. Do you get dart rifle ammo from normal guns or do you have to grab an ammo pickup? 5 shots is a little ridiculous.
Spacehost
Dart rifle ammo qualifies as normal ammo, so you can get it from ammo dumps, but no, nothing else uses it, so you can't scavange it from other weapons. Get the upgrade for it (sharpshooter bandolier?) to make it more useful.
ZOK
I'm not sure why anyone has problems with the stealth - it works if you're stealthy, it fails if you're not, I find. I also prefer the second map to the first. They're both great, but the second map is somehow more intersting for me.
Mogget
I didn't lose a single buddy on my playthrough I didn't give a toss about a single buddy on my playthrough. I don't think the Act 2 landscape helps much either - its far too awkward to traverse around the central area, with lots of impassable mountain ranges that make navigation a pain. Absolutely spot on. The first region was much more enjoyable to wander around, with plenty of open grasslands.
Pob
edit just watching some more of the videos that Ubi released has anyone had the enemies act like this in the retail game.Decieving the Enemy video That video is ace. I've not seen a couple of those things though - namely the big gas canister which you can shoot individual holes in with fire shooting out. And the way the guy who gets shot in the foot actually reacts like he has been shot in the foot. Are those two things in the final game? Love the booby-trapped jeep as well
Puck
One of my buddies is 'missing'. Is this to all intents and purpose the same as being dead or can I recover them somehow?
boxoctosis
What's the multi player on this like? Nearly through GOW2 on co-op and looking for something decent to play online. Anyone bothering with it?
Puck
I've not tried it - doesn't really appeal to me for some reason. Actually Far Cry co-op could be good, but I think the multiplayer here is just deathmatch.
larrydavidsanger
deathmatch, team deathmatch, uprising and capture the diamond are the modes available. Uprising is just the same as COD's mode where there are 3 zones to capture and defend only that one member is designated the captain and they're the only one that can capture. You have to get all 3 zones and then kill the opposing captain to win. I actually quite like the multiplayer although the way the characters move is a bit clunky compared to COD, the lobbys are still quite full of people too

ZOK
So I've hit the game killing bug...I'm at 69% completed, and now trying to load any of my twelve different saves causes the 360 to lock up. Isn't that just dandy? I don't suppose there are any rumours of a patch for this. What a fucking pain though, the missus is away for the weekend and I was planning on finishing this tomorrow! Isn't that just dandy? I don't suppose there are any rumours of a patch for this. What a fucking pain though, the missus is away for the weekend and I was panning on finishing this tomorrow! I had that at 88%, and luckily I had at least two saves around 60% done that worked.
Joyrex-J9
That sucks dude. Not seen any news on a patch, even your older saves (less than 69%) cause the freeze as well?
ZOK
I've got one that is at 31% that I haven't tried, I may give that a go. There's no way that I'll play from there though, it's effectively ended the game for me.
K
What bug is this? I'm at, like, 4% is there anything I can do to avoid it?
Joyrex-J9
Once I got to 50% I kept that as a back-up save, paranoia against this bug. So I had 5 rotating saves and a sixth one as backup I never needed it thankfully. I don't know what causes the bug, but from what I can gather from angry forums posts all over the net, is it happens at the 60%+ mark in the game. ZOK
Panic over, I found a 65% save that I hadn't tried, it loaded, I whipped through to the 69% mark, saved again and now it's fine. Many, many back ups is the key it seems.

Retroid
The sound mix is absolutely fucked. People feet from you sound about a mile away; a jeep revving its engine to chase you will sound like it's inside your head. You get used to it. Also, turn off the music. It's dynamic, but based entirely on what you do so doesn't let you know anything about if you've been seen or not. Chasing a chicken around someone's shed waving a machete becomes a battle royale with an epic score fit to rival the ending of a Final Fantasy. I love you Spacehost; just spent the last ten minute laughing my head off to these posts
Mogget
Is this bug only an XBox 360 problem? I completed the game on PC without ever seeing major bugs of any kind.
ZOK
It must be I guess. I'm now at 94% complete, and it's started happening again! Oh well. EDIT: Looking at the FC2 forum it seems it's happening on PS3 as well, the PC version has had a patch though, so maybe that sorted the problem, it it existed. TheMagicMoose
Is this bug only an XBox 360 problem? I completed the game on PC without ever seeing major bugs of any kind. No its not specific to any format. Its only a small percentage of people who seem to be experiencing it. Using multiple save slots ensures that if it does happen its not too big a deal. ZOK
What makes you say it's only a small percentage of people who experience it? A quick look on google indicates that many people experience it, and it's a pain in the arse, even with multiple saves. It's shocking that the game has been released in this state imho. Also, the workarounds that are suggested (make sure that you have delivered Jackal tapes to Reuben, etc,) make no difference.

TheMagicMoose
What makes you say it's only a small percentage of people who experience it? I don't know. It didn't happen to me. I think if the majority of people experienced the problem you would be hearing more about it on forums like this. Just bought this from Game for £20 second hand, but can't play it till Thursday. Any tips on starting that will help me enjoy this more? Turn off the music, aim assist and the cross hair.
AK Bell
Just bought this from Game for £20 second hand, but can't play it till Thursday. Any tips on starting that will help me enjoy this more? Persevere. It is good. It's just a bit harsh. There is a bit where you will die at the start to move the story along (stupid design). And the tutorial is crap. Googling up on how to play the game in general is worth doing because the tutorial is so shit, especially how buying guns and storing them works, and it's too open to have a walkthrough so doesn't count as cheating

TheMagicMoose
The music? Yes turn the music off. While the music in itself is not bad its very poorly implemented into the game. Much better if its turned off. Honest.
