Will Smith - Seven Pounds - Trailer

Smith gave us box office popcorn fodder with Hancock and I Am Legend and will return to drama with Seven Pounds, a re-teaming with his Pursuit of Happyness director. Smith plays an IRS adjuster who is harbouring a secret for which he wants to make amends, in doing so he begins to change the lives of seven people, including a woman with a heart condition (Rosario Dawson) and a blind pianist (played by Woody Harrelson).

This appears to the full trailer for the movie and given it's on Youtube, there's every chance it'll get removed in a short time. The official SD & HD versions should be online soon.

Another $150M movie for Smith?

Best not to read anything about this before you watch it - I knew literally nothing, and I think I enjoyed it more that way.

That said, some people will really hate this. It IS quite shamelessly manipulative, but Smith and Dawson are appealing enough to let some of the flaws slide - for me, anyway. Not all of them, though - there are too many 'oh, come on' moments, while the very final scene is definitely a step too far. But yeah, big lump in the throat when I realised what was going to happen. If you're not averse to a bit of maudlin sentimentality, then you might like it.

EDIT: I should say that none of it stands up to scrutiny. Once you've seen it, switch your brain off, because it's getting worse in my head the more I think about it.

Just watched this and wished I hadn't. It was boring and slow and just didn't seem to take off at all. I get the message behind the film and why he was doing what he did but I just thought it was utter crap.

That quote should be on most of Will Smith's films, it seems to be more than charitable.

Seen this yesterday, thought it was fantastic. Girlfriend was crying away at it and if I was on my own watching it, I wouldn't have held back the tears either but I had to appear slightly masculine I thought.

I'm a big Will Smith fan so I don't understand the criticism he gets so for me this is a solid film. Really enjoyable.

I thought this was complete and utter tripe.

It's about absolutely nothing other than setting up the initially intriguing situation and then drip feeding the audience enough clues every 10 minutes so that they keep watching. Anyone with half a brain will see where its going after the first 40 minutes, leaving another hour an a half to wade through until its finally over and you see whether you were right or not.

Will Smith goes through the whole film with an expression that suggests he has just shat himself and frankly I don't blame him.

Agree with this. I did shed a tear though as it was a very emotional film. Its a drama, a nice story rather than a clever (or not so) M Night Shyamalan type film that i'm sure most people thought it would be.

Thoroughly enjoyed it.

It's not a drama though. In a drama people have proper conversations and express real emotions. The format doesn't allow for any of this because it would give away the ending. If they had wanted to make a drama they should have ditched the 'big reveal' and just played the whole thing straight from the start.

The film only exists for the big reveal, in that sense it's very much like M Night Shyamalan's stuff.

I've definitely been known to well up at many a film in the past, but i don't understand at all why anybody would find this film emotional/sad in the slightest. At which point in the film is everyone crying?

I welled up a bit when I saw Woody Harrelson's toupe.

It's like easy scares from sudden loud bangs and people jumping out in horror films. A lot of people will just get upset if they hear a surge of orchesteral strings and the actors start looking off into the middle distance.

Personally I always get upset when the ghost of Bill Pullman's dead wife turns up at the end of Casper.
