Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Fair dos, Uncharted 2 looks absolutely incredible. Goes to show that you don't need four years and unlimited financial and technical support from Sony (hello, Guerilla!) to make something that shames the best the 360 has to offer.

Who in the fuck in Digger Smolkin? He's popped up in a half dozen different threads today, each time with the same old circa-2006 PS3 bitching Sonylol bollocks.

To be fair to Soong, the Edge 6 for Resistance 2 was just an overly harsh score from a particularly hating reviewer (rank last on the list of Metacritic scores, by a large margin). If the same linear level playin', gun lovin', grey alien shootin' GoW2 reviewer had scored it, I'm sure it would only have been a point or two away from his prediction.

How can anyone say uncharted looks incredible? All we've seen is a in game cutscene. Those magazine shots are hardly anything to base the quality of the graphics on and if anything, the only thing that can be slightly seen up close is the car which looks a bit low poly and bland but let's reserve graphical critism until tomorrow at least when we'll possibly have high quality gameplay video to go by.

Looks great, of course it does... Uncharted was a great game and visually was stunning.

Not sure about the urban setting, burning cars and shit, doing that is just going to force a lot more unfounded Gears comparisons.

One of the thinks I really enjoyed about Uncharted 1 was the lush jungle & old ruins type of settings, something it pulled off even better than TR

Still I assume that this urban stuff just one part of the game.

I'm looking forward to this

He's someone who got in pissed as a fart last night and thought he'd put the world to rights. Sorry folks. Thanks to everyone for having the good taste to ignore the crap I was spewing.

It looks incredible

Looking at those screenshots however, I hope that they didn't ditch the lighthearted feel of the first game - that's one of the things I liked most about it. In other words, I hope that they don't do a Warrior Within.

Edit: didn't see Cyhwuhx' post before I posted this, looks like I'm not the only one thinking it could be going in the direction of Gears , Resistance & Killzone judging by those shots. I really really hope that's not the case.

.::: Same here. If this isn't a throw-away popcorn action-adventure with tongues firmly in all available cheeks then I'm going to cry...

But yeah, the graphics are impressive. The setting, anything but.

It looks great (though hardly vivid) but I was hoping they would tone the combat down from the first game. After a while the first game just kept throwing enemies at you in slightly different arenas. Which is fine if you like that but I enjoyed the earlier bits where the focus was more on exploration and adventuring. Those screenshots could be misleading but I have a feeling they're going to make it even more shootery considering the first one didn't sell all that fantastically.

I doubt they ditched the lighthearted feel. That cut scene certainly screamed Drake to me.

As for the setting, I really like it. Yes, we've seen destroyed cityscapes before, but never like this. It's certainly not without color. And I'm pretty sure this won't be the only location we'll see. The Game Informer article contains a screen shot where Drake's dropping out of a vehicle in a snowy area full of mountains, so no worries there.

Aww, this looks bloody great, I'm really excited about this. I don't think anyone should be worried about the developers doing a Warrior Within judging by what made the first one so popular... actually, saying that, look what happened with Jak and Daxter 2. Eesh.

...so yeah... a little more green please!

I know a lot of people complain about the combat/exploring ratio of Uncharted, but I thought it was reasonably well balanced myself. I could have done without the underground Zombie like creatures, but aside from that, I thought it gave a fair shout to both styles.

I think the best path they could go down for the sequel, would be to let the player decide how to approach each section. So when Drake turns a corner and sees an open area filled with enemies, the choice is there to either shoot your way through them, or platform your way around them.
