God I suck at the faster cars. Felt like I was on the dodgems there. Every lap I do I'm bouncing off the walls like crazy!

RUF is a slidy bastard!

That's because it's got the engine totally in the wrong place :(

Are we allowed to use DLC cars in Class B as well? I'm thinking of spending some points on the pack and trying the 430 Scuderia for this challenge.

DLC cars are allowed. As previously stated the DLC is well worth getting. It's only 400 points and you also get a bunch of excellent new arcade challenges as well as new cars.

RUF is a slidy bastard!

It's weird because in the career mode the RUF was my car of choice, it just felt a little more sedate than the faster cars. But I struggle like a bastard using it in time trials.

I suck at this track though. I think this was the first or second time trial track I did when the old thread was up and running, and I never did get the hang of it then either.

First time I've ever tried to nail these time trial thingies, and I thought I was going okay in the RUF when I managed to cut 15 seconds off my best time down to 1:21:01.

Methinks I need to do a damn sight more racing to get anywhere near you lot. It's fun though, have to admit. The fact I keep slamming into the corners doesn't help, despite me trying really really hard to anticipate them.

It's hard indeed, I've noticed that too. PGR4 isn't so much of a time attack racing game for me, I really prefer wheel-banging gameplay with this.

Still though, this particular challenge has really taught me to ease on both the throttle and the brake. I don't oversteer as much anymore, and I'm still learning not to lock up my brakes before a corner.

This game, as much as I'm enjoying it once more due to this thread, has the most obtrusive, frustrating and annoyingly visible 'ghosts' EVER!

It a real shame you can't turn all of the damned things off, or at least have the ability to adjust the opacity of the remaining one.

use WHITE as the colour of your car, and then the ghosts are pretty "gone"

Damn, still a bit off first place. I could write a book about this track by now, which I probably will in the form of an analysis post. But not until tomorrow, after my last tries to be even faster.

Decided to give myself another run this morning and managed to improve my time slightly. Not worried about positions against others yet, just wanted to break 1:09.00 and I did with:

bradigor : RUF RT12 : 1.08.36 : (AT)

Made a couple of mistakes near the end of the lap and reckon I could shave another second off by keeping my footdown a bit longer into the last corner, but happy with that none the less.

I might need a volunteer to take over for a few weeks while my 360 goes on a trip to Frankfurt. It's working at the moment but the only game I'm having any real problems with is PGR. I can't do the time trials becasue the framerate is all over the place. :o

I'll post a new challenge either tonight or tomorrow but I'm going to have to send it away this week I think. The jury is still out on whether I'll be picking up an Arcade to tide me over in the meantime.

The fastest any Atom has ever gone on Old Port Short!

Tried the Atom but couldn't get on with it. As such, 1.02.97 is a hell of an achievement. B)

My best time from the middle of the week, which I never posted up because it wouldn't have moved me anywhere in the standings, is:

Cheers mate. I do reckon the Atom isn't the best car for the job: its total lack of aerodynamics makes it incredibly unstable at high speeds (the hilly stretch is always a threat), and the lack of ABS makes braking for a corner a challenge of its own. The first right-hander and the final chicane killed off about 80% of my tries.

Though I can see why the fastest time has been set with the Radical: it has a bit more grip, but at the same time it's hard to get its power down well.

All in all, this track has been a real challenge: the first corner is already very hard, the hill climb part is a struggle for the right gears and has a final corner which can be taken at full throttle thanks to a bank in the road. Two hard right handers after that (mostly because of the high speeds you're nearing them with) and the hilly stretch which sets you up for the final chicane - a real killler as well.

Can we do an easier course next time? :(

I must admit I didn't like the challenge this week much. I really don't like the top class cars, I thought the track was alright though. I much prefer the satisfaction of pinching a tenth lap after lap in the lower class cars to the pinball avoidance that the higher class cars seem more about.
