Being the nerd that I am, I keep track of the games I buy and complete

2008 has been a fairly good year for finishing games. I was fairly strict for most of it, forcing myself to only have one game on the go at a time.

Super Mario Galaxy (242 stars), Resident Evil 4: Wii (3 times and bonuses), Final Fantasy IX, Call of Duty: World at War, Braid, Metal Gear Solid 4 (3 times), Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, Metroid Prime: Corruption and EDF 2017. Probably a few more.

It was a great year for gaming. wasn't it?

Braid, MGS4, Dead Space, Fallout 3, Half-Life 2 (for the first time!), Half-Life 2 ep 1, RezHD, GTA IV, Portal: Still Alive, PGR4.

I've just realised that I've owned a PS3 and a Wii for a combined total of about two and a half years and only ever completed one game on them.

Yeah. When you complete it you unlock survival mode, where you have to do it again in one sitting.

I think this will be one of these where you just stop playing. We played the Gamecube version for well over a year though. Ended up with nearly all the furniture and a model village taking up all of my basement, with all the shops and houses from the game.

I could never do the final mission (24?) on the Megadrive. What a fine game though. A true classic.

ps. Unless Jools & Jops were involved in the final mission you'll have to start again.

Only Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Justice for All. Which I actually completed in January after completing most of the game the previous year. I've come close to completing Professor Layton but I can't do the last block moving puzzle so I don't regard it as complete.

Ah well, bring on the derision, because I completed it with the help of save states. There's no way in hell i'd have managed without this life line - the game is just plain old UNFAIR.

Majora's mask I finished fair and square though, with the Fierce Diety mask too. Sitting in the inn with the two lovers in the final moments... ;_;

Beautiful Katamari

Fable II (with all properties and a fully upgraded character)

Banjo Kazooie

And I've got lots of others 'in progress', some of which I do intend to finish at some point. This is very good for me though!

Yes, this is something I try to combat as well. It helps not buying everything on the day of release, avoiding the bargain bin 'also rans' (which you only buy because they're cheap) and waiting with buying games until you really want to play them. I did pretty well, the only games that are currently truly almost unplayed 'on the pile' are Dead Space and Gears 2, which will get the attention they deserve once I'm done with Fallout 3 which I play pretty much dedicated now apart from short bursts of Virtua Fighter 5 and Arcade games.

Just Sam and Max Season 1 and Mass Effect.

I had a much better 2007 for finishing games. There wasn't much out this year that I really felt compelled to finish. A lot of big games were disappointing by the time I got halfway through.
