Red Dead Redemption - Never coming to PC

Mines been sent ex shopto. My PO is filled!

I saw the GT review eventually and it blew me away. It looks lovely although i STILL can't help thinking the Sci Fi Bmovie aspect is a missed opportunity.

Imagine ICFTD done with this engine - starting out like some everyday mystery with bodies being found and ending in some mental EDF-A-THON. It would rule. Rockster are rubbish i tell thee.

ARE YOU READING ROCKSTER?

50'S US SCI FI MOVIE?

All stock has short shipped. 2 major highstreet retailers can't fill pre-orders according to the distributor.

Jesus fucking Christ.

How stupid and shit is the industry? Honestly.

This game is going to be massive and a consistent seller through until Xmas, mark my words.

Also, in absence of me being wrong and expecting to grab a copy for a shade under £30 from Asda on't way home, have you got any unreserved?

I can't see how that many retailers could be short-shipped, unless a massive freighter was lost at sea with all discs aboard, or some shit.

In fact, where are the discs printed for UK games? The best I can imagine is if maybe the airline problems are slowing the supply route.

Anyway, Play reckon mine shipped the other day, so I should be alright. I've ordered plenty from them and it's always turned up on time or a day early. Whoever said they aren't so good lately is probably just unlucky.

You finally gonna hand the car keys in then and pick up the reins? :(

Edit:

That's not to say that shooting people isn't fun: gunplay feels beefy and satisfying, and a distinct improvement over GTA IV, with the ability to adjust your auto-aim using the right thumbstick. It's a small touch, but one that greatly facilitates the scoring of bloody headshot

Eh? You could do that in GTA4!

Yeah it does apparently. It's also supposed be way easier than GTA anyway.

Moreso than the replenishing health, I'd imagine it's easier just for not having infinitely spawning cops hounding you constantly.

GTA would have been better in that regard if it also had replenishing health IMO; once you got past 4 stars you'd never be able to catch a breather.

Is this true or is it hype? I calling hype. At Metal god Moosey. Rockstar looking to create demand.

My boss phones distributor to ship games, distributor tells him 2 major retailers aren't getting all that they ordered. Boss phones different distributor for separate reason, gets talking about Red Dead, distributor 2 says they heard it's short shipped.

For all I know there's an abundance of copies out there and short shipped actually means 800,000 copies instead of 1,000,000* Long and short is that anyone who's posting in this thread won't be trying to pick it up Saturday afternoon when everywhere's most likely sold out. I only know what I get told. The Tesco thing seems to confirm it though.

As to the incompetence claim, I'm not so sure. For example, Nintendo stuff never fills demand and hasn't done since the Wii was released, so you'd think they'd get it right eventually but they don't. Why? Because selling out of something drives up demand. Rockstar aren't idiots, and it wouldn't surprise me if they had short stocked it to drive up even more hype and demand than their expensive advertising campaigns already have.

*totally arbitrary numbers, I have no idea how many get shipped.

So... Is ordering software from online stores really that shitty then? In the UK I mean? Sounds like a lot of you run into troubles that way.

No. Normally getting games before release and far cheaper than SHITE-O-GAME is not a problem. People on here love their games so much they just can't help talking about their pre-orders and worrying about them.

Anyone playing this, what's the recomended difficulty/aiming mode? I usually don't dig lock-on combat at all, so I'm thinking Hard is the way to go. Is it gonna kick my arse though?

Aiming mode set to 'expert' is definitely the way to go from what I've played of an early version over at a friends' place. It gets rid of the intrusive auto-aim and it's wonderfully precise, especially since you've got that there fancy dead aim to fall back on when things get hectic. You'll be shooting hats off the heads of drunken varmint in no time.

Cool. Try to remember to come back here now and then to give us the lowdown.

And yeah, it depends how refined the controls are. I found full lock in GTA made it a bit easy when it worked (and as you say, intrusive when it didn't), but Mass Effect 2 for instance was perfectly fine with no lock at all.

Girl in HMV told me that they'd taken about as many pre-orders for this as they did MW2... :(

Wow, ShopTo have stopped pre-orders for the 360 version. I git mine in at about half 2 today, so I guess that means they've sold their shipment?

...uh-oh.

I have a feeling that those that went with Amazon might be disappointed again? :(

(will now hear it's shipped from there...ahem)
