Someone started jive talking me in the bar, so I lasso'd him, put him on the back of my horse, took him out into the wilderness, and exectuted him. Naturally.

But when I realised that the law doesn't automatically come after you and I'd gotten away with it, I suddenly felt incredibly guilty and had to re-load my save.

How do I deal with that Rose woman in Armadillo, the one I'm supposed to get back to her husband? It says "Threaten or hogtie Rose" but when I do the law goes after me.

I just pointed my gun at her and she came with me

lost 100 honour points though...

didn't have the lasso at the time so it was all I could do. Maybe should have slapped her about a bit

I'd have released him and shot him in the leg as he fled.

Then left him to hobble all the way back to civilisation before the coyotes got him.

Heading all the way up to Tall Trees then Great Plains and taking in the powerful Aurora Basin at dusk with a posse of friends on horseback is a staggeringly-beautiful and unforgettable videogaming experience.

After 13 solid hours Today in SP and MP, I'm really starting to appreciate the scores this game has received.

...I haven't had a special 'moment' in a game for aaaaagess, then 50 come along at once - Thanks R*.

I haven't done that mission yet, but if you go to the store in Thieves' Landing you can buy a bandana. If you wear it your honour and fame will remain unaffected whatever you do, so simply equip it when you have to do a mission like this

I am not sure what is up with the horses in this game. The one I had ridden for a while died when a coyete bit it, so I whisted and another one came running. Where it came from or what it was doing so close in the middle of nowhere is beyond me. What I like to think happened is that some poor bloke was riding nearby when the horse heard my whistle. It kicked off its owner and came running - though thinking about it, I don't think there can be any other explanation.

Edge also singled out Josh Brolin's character in No Country For Old Men back in their preview.

Yeah, thats a good one. Ever read the book? It's good :(

God I love Westerns. I played this for two hours last night and didn't do anything except muck about, play blackjack and ride my horse around.

Also, I think we can all agree Adam Capone would be the worse cowboy ever.

Think that's for shooting someones hat off isn't it?

Yes it is. Also the scene of a very unfortunate bug for me. I'm challanged to shoot

the ram's skull

off in the distance. As soon as the cut scene ends and I begin lining up my sights - imagine my surprise as a man just falls from the sky in a heap then I get a mission failed because a civilian died.

Same here. I'm mostly enjoying the awesome sights, soaking up the atmosphere and hunting and playing poker and like. At this rate it's going to take me forever to actually finish the game because I'm doing everything except missions (and that's a good thing because atm I never want it to end  )

Had a couple of hours last night on the single player and loved every minute. Graphically very impressive and riding the horses around the vast open space is sooooo good! The horse controls feel very natural, the way you tap A to gallop and RB to pull up. The little animations when Marston gives the horse a gentle kick just adds to the atmos for me.

Must say I do like the War Horse that came wth my HMV copy, although I did kill one when I slipped down a slope. Oh well, got a point for horse meat when I skinned the carcase!

The cover system and shooting is ace. I spent about 20 mins around the home ranch just practising running, covering etc and ended up just sliding into cover at every possible opportunity!

I've enjoyed this more from the outset than GTAIV - I think it's just the Western setting that I just adore. And to think mulitplayer is still to come!

Really want to spend the entire weekend on this but don't think my two children will let me!

Finally got my Armadillo duel, and managed to shoot the gun out of my opponent's hand. He clutched his hand, cursed me profusely and ran away from town.

Now I'm sporting the Deadly Assassin outfit which makes me look like a real badass.

Just the 10 hour session on day 1 for me :/ It has that 'one more thing before I stop' thing about it, much moreso than any other game I can think of.

I can only echo what everyone else has said really, its just phenomenal. I've already had so many great stand-out moments and i've barely moved out of the opening areas.

The only thing that annoys me slightly is not knowing what horse you have, and I think someone mentioned it already. My stallion got assassinated by a cougar and i'm now riding around on an ashen grey horse, which seems pretty cool, but it'd be nice to know what breed it is.

Yeah, I was trying to call it a night last night, but everytime I saved in my room in Armadillo, something new happened when I stepped out on the balcony.

What's the deal with breaking wild horses again? At what point does it replace your current horsey (straight away or do you need to do something?) and is there some way of knowing what quality of animal of you're roping?

I have the Stallion you get from a mission currently, but I've seen some nice looking creatures cantering about the place that would match the colour of my hair better. Don't want to swap out though if I end up with a gluesack.

I think he's replaced the moment you hitch up your horse. Whenever you whistle you should get the last horse you 'saved' by this method.
