I pulled the tarpaulin off my old Ishkur last night and gave it a spin. Someone's been messing about with it while I've been away, though. I came to launch the five Hammerhead IIs I had in the bay but was told that there wasn't enough Drone Bandwidth.

The logic of this completely escapes me. The Ishkur's bonus for Assault Ship training is that it gives an extra 5m3 drone capacity per level. It's a ship that is specifically geared towards drone deployment. Training Assault Ships to V means that the drone bay is large enough to carry five medium drones. The bandwidth restriction, however, means that you can only launch two mediums and a light at the same time. Surely this now means there's absolutely no point in training the Assault Ships skill beyond the minimum required to sit in the pilot's seat? Am I missing something?

I think you're supposed to be carrying around spares, almost the same thing happened with the Myrmidon. To be fair they were probably a tiny bit overpowered.

As I know there's no way to increase bandwith whether through skills or modules.

Anyway, ex-Bob seem to have gone quiet except in Local. I flew around the major landmarks in Delve last night (well, NOL and the uber-bubbled station in PR-), stopping to shoot at a reaper and I was completely unmolested. I even went afk for a few minutes on a gate and remained intact. Every major thoroughfare was awash with blues and light blues manning gate and sling bubbles. ex-Bob have presumable jumpcloned elsewhere for the forseeable future.

hmm well that maybe but earlier today it started heating up again, not with BOB but AAA seem to want to pay us a visit now. We had a number of roaming gangs hoping to engage us. Wonder if they are going to break off from attaking goons in the east and come down to our space. Very strange times.BOB meanwhile seem to be content with trying to wait us out.

IT'S A JAILBREAK!!

-A- (Against ALL Authorities - the Russian alliance lead by the strangely high-pitched Evil Thug) are widely expected to spring their BoB buddies from incarceration over the next few days starting from after downtime today. We could possibly see a concentration of several dozen or more Titans so expect sobs as your correspondant is instantly and unhappily vapourised in his first battle by a friendly doomsday.

Oops here come the russians! This is gonna be fun on the bun. God knows what help I can be though with the Domi of doom. I had a feeling they were testing us out yesterday with those roaming gangs. Still at least it means kenny might actually show their faces and my bet is they fuck off to AAA space.

Not sure about the paybycard stuff but the classic client dies when the March expansion Apocrypha hits. It will be replaced with the new Premium Lite client which will essentially be a downscaled version of the current Premium client, meaning CCP no longer have to produce two sets of product for every item they put into the game.

Went on a fun trip through low-sec with about 30 fellow unistas last night, scaring dozens of pirates and generating more than a few thanks from local ratters and miners alike. We eventually made it to where the Uni stores a bunch of its capital ships and proceeded to try to blow them up with our blob of T1 frigates, destroyers and cruisers. After about 10mins of sustained fire from all 30 odd ships, we managed to drop the shields of a Caldari Chimera carrier to about 89%. A Phoenix dreadnought fared a little better, managing to keep its shields at about 97% despite a massive bombardment of missiles, railguns, lasers, autocannons and some wonky smartbombs.

A clever unista targetting the station we were near got himself blown up by the defence guns, which was also amusing. After playing with the cap ships we all headed back to HQ in Korsiki. One thing that's great about being in the Uni is no matter where you go, local fills with "WTF" and "o/ UNI!" as we cruise about in crazy-huge T1 frigate fleet blobs. :( (last night's fleet was reasonably small in comparison to usual)

EDIT: Oh, someone's declared war on the Uni. 24hrs before all hell breaks loose!

I should finally finish my epic quest to relocate to Apple Corp HQ today. I'm currently flying my Badger loaded with two frigates and my entire stash of random stuff through a 16 jump slog from New Caldari. Luckily I'd forgotten to insure the frigates in question. :)

Still at least its not as bad as that time when Pie were out on a routine patrol and came across a)someone whose corp we were at war with transporting basically his entire corps inventory solo to their new base, you can guess the rest, and b)another pilot who we were at war with had decided to jump afk in his apoc to amarr just as a 15 strong pie patrol decided to head out ^_^

Well, half way into my trial now and I have to say I'm enjoying it immensely (even if my beloved Merlin did get destroyed by NPCs earlier today which was horrible).

I'm currently spending about 20% of my play time mining (I've decked out a Bantam with a couple of mining lasers, a mining drone and an extended cargo bay) and the rest blowing things up (or getting blown up) in my Merlin.

A few inevitable frustrations here and there - e.g. lots of shiny things to look at and even acquire but lots and lots of hoops to jump through before you can actually use them, i.e. not having the right skill or a ship with a feeble powergrid. Am getting used to feeling utterly overwhelmed by the toys the other players have. Some of the missions seem to have fairly stark difficulty spikes too.

As this is a trial account, I'm taking a tactical rather than strategic outlook so am just skilling up based on immediate need rather than taking the long-term view of focusing on things like Learning, but if I switched to a full account, I'd probably do things differently.

I have to say that I'd always planned to play this as a soldier/pvp character but I'm actually getting quite into the commerce side of things.

Unless the experience goes really downhill within the next few days I think I'll be switching to a full account.

Day One of the war was decent for the Uni, scoring a battleship (typhoon) kill with a loss of seven assorted T1 frigates and cruisers. As expected, our opponents aren't much for stand-up fights, only having twenty-one members. The Uni maintained several seek-and-destroy fleets throughout the day, all numbering between 50-120 ships, operating as deep as Amarr and Gallente space (we're based in Caldari space). Had several near-kills as we played rabbit with a few war targets. Unfortunately, for now, they're not interested it seems. Regardless, if you happen to see a 100-odd ship fleet passing through your system, be sure to wave in local, even though we're not allowed to talk there. :P

Roll on day two.

What's your mining setup? I had an osprey and mammoth - I'd jetcan mine with the former, then come and pick it up with the latter. But I got disheartened by too many griefers putting my jetcan into a cargo container of their own, in the hope that I'd open it allowing them to destroy me.

Not sure I can be arsed to just fit a mining laser on a badger...if you lot are enjoying mining I'd be interested to hear how you do it (honest question, I'm not being facetious).

When bookmarks still existed, I'd warp my hulk on top of a roid and then warp back to the base with the bookmarks setup such that I could mine/dock straight away. I'm not sure if you can do this now, anyone know if "warp to 0km" works the same way?

What you might want to do is find some folks to do it with (Apple Corp mining outing?). Get some folk sat at a belt continually mining and dropping in to the same can and then have a badger running back and forth the belt.

Oh man, we've had some glorious mining ops like that in my time. I remember somewhere in the south of Amarr space, we did some 0.0 mining. You couldn't do it these days, but the choke point in to 0.0 wasn't as camped, so we had some big guns sat at the belts, miners continually mining and all dropping in to the same can, and then we had about 4 bestowers parked at a moon. Once we got going, the Bestowers were on a continuous 24 jump pattern to drop the ore off at the nearest empire station with a refinery. It'd take about 15 to 20mins to do the round trip, and all 4 bestowers were continually on the move once we got going. Whoever was on collection duty next would sit at the moon until they had a cargo's worth, so they could spend the minimum amount of time in the belt.

Bah, good times. I miss it.

Yep, that method certainly has been working for me; it took me a couple of days into the trial before it occured to me, but not having that awful 70km run to get to anything has made mining quite bearable. I was also quite lucky in that I picked up a Residual Scanner 1 from an NPC wreck early on in the game, if it hadn't have been for that I'd probably still be mining Veldspar but at least I can reach Scordite instead (which I appreciate isn't a massive step up, but it still earns more.)

Teabag, I'm just doing very basic stuff on the trial, literally just a couple of mining lasers and a drone plus an extended cargo bay. Its a bit like doing data input at work, you can literally just slip your brain into neutral for a hour or so, but I don't think I'd want to do it too much. I've read up on the whole jettisoning cargo technique, but I think for now whilst I'm finding my feet I'll just stick with the basics.

I have to admit I actually lost my replacement Merlin about 10 minutes after my earlier post, on exactly the same mission as well. The difficulty spikes are pretty terrible; on the prior mission (from the same agent) I'd kill an npc with a single x2 railgun x2 missle salvo, on the next mission I lose two ships! What's really gauling, and I wonder if it is a bug maybe, is that on my first Merlin I seemed to be able to just leave my shield recharger thingy on for extended periods, e.g. whole battles and my capacitor would be fine. On the second Merlin, which I'm sure I equipped out in exactly the same way, the capacitor would be drained in a less than a minute (and this contributed to losing the second Merlin).

Here's hoping for better luck with the third :(

I don't know for sure what could be causing that. My best guess is that before you were equipping a civilian shield booster and now you have a small shield booster. The latter sucks up lots more cap would result in you capping out. As a new player I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be cap stable in frigate with the small booster running full time ( I know I wouldn't and I have maxed out cap skills) without a specialist fit but a civ booster would probably work like that. You'll be able to check your earlier fit from the combat log if you can't remember for sure.

Wow, just checked and that's exactly what I'd done - thank you ;) Off to the fitting shop...

I've been mining with a Bantam, and picking up the ore with a Badger. I've been sticking to high security space, and haven;t had any trouble with griefers yet. It would be neat to get a proper team mining op running at some point though. ;)
