Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

Is there a particular Good Place to go to for a TE stick currently?

Or to word the question another way, if you were to cough up for a TE tomorrow where would you look and how much would you expect to pay?

My reckless whimsy gland is tingling.

ps3: about £90 on amazon. 360: £100+ (currently £130 on amazon), though i haven't seen one below £115 since shopto raised the price on their super sticks. however, you might find someone who got one for £55 looking to sell it secondhand at a decent price if you're lucky.

it's not like i obsessively check a bunch of different places for TE sticks every day or anything, though.

(well, actually it is, but i don't have access to every site that sells them).

I'm nervously tugging at the hem of possibly Live-enabling the 360 for SSF4, so I'd be looking for a stick for that console.

And yeah, the £130+ TEs are the only ones I saw after a cursory work-internet search. Was hoping I was missing out on a trick somewhere.

Yeah I think they've all shot up in a price a bit after the initial game group clearout due to Super being around the corner now.

A long shot but if you live in Enfield that cex has one 360 TE in stock for £60. It is second hand but you could see the condition of it before buying I guess and it comes with a 12 month warranty there so it's not like you could lose the money.

for what it's worth, if i didn't have one but still had my year's worth of experience of using one, i probably wouldn't think twice about paying £130 for one. especially the black "round 2" one (not the new "S" one though, for reasons discussed a couple of pages back). that doesn't guarantee you'll also get your money's worth, though! you'll have to play a lot of street fighter.

funnily enough SF4 last year was the reason i first bought an xbox live subscription. man, i've spent too much on this game...

Here's some more justification:

The stick works fine on PC, so you emulate just about any arcade classic and use it to play them.

Yeah thats quite true. I can use both on GGPO and on Super when it comes out on the PC. Actually I heard BB on the PC is cross platform play for online so may just get it on that when it comes out

My lovely TE stick was well worth it, best gaming accessory I ever bought. Never regretted it, far from it - it was worth every single penny and I couldn't imagine living without it now :)

Exactly the same here. I don't think i've ever bought something so expensive and never regretted it one bit. ;)

I've got a super TE on order, black version for 360. I have an original TE but I play a lot of fighters locally with a friend and my EX2 is a little too small to sit comfortably in the lap, whereas the TEs sit very nicely. It's rude to be fobbing off guests with a lesser stick :)

Also, they're just wonderful investments. Works on PC so can be used with any emulator, and on the 360 itself it gets use for SF, VF, KoF, and Garou.

i was thinking about your button rearrangement plans earlier and wondered if it was worth suggesting that you switch the dodgy connections for the start and back buttons that you only ever use pre-match and post-match. then you'd still even have your LP and LK (position on the stick under default layout, i mean, not the buttons you actually use for LP and LK which would be my medium attacks) buttons 100% functional just in case you should ever decide you fancy testing a new layout. might well be that you never use the LP and LK buttons anyway so you'd rather not have the occasional faff with unplugging the stick so you can press start to do whatever pressing start does, though.

Nice! You got the EX-SE! I fucking love the look of it, the surface on it (if you see close ups you'll see what I mean) its incredible. How much did you get it for if you don't mind me asking?

Same tastes as me man, I want a EX-SE and VSHG too now that I have my two TE's. Hoping to save up and pick them up over the next year or so

Edit- saw the thread on ntsc-uk, nice price!

Nice pic too!

£115 unused. Such a bargain.

I only bought 2 round one TEs in the game station sale a couple of weeks ago.

I wouldnt have ever thought of buying 3 sticks in a month but the were all so well priced.

I have just sold a few sticks so I had some cash in bank and thought why not.

I cant imagine I will be as lucky copping a VSHG as cheap.

Whoa, ha I think if I get what you're saying I would have start and back on the surface of the stick? I'm not sure

Congrats dude, it's lovely. Tis the season to be stocking up on sticks it seems.

Yeah VSHG's at a non insane price won't be easy to find- but you never know!

yeah, that's what i was saying. and you'd map start and back in-game to be activated by the dodgy trigger buttons which are now sitting on the side of the stick instead of the top face. the way you're planning to do it is plenty good too, but it's another option. i think. i haven't exactly researched it!

I didn't have the room to bring my stick to Canada, I wanted a TES but would have to import from the US so I figured I'd go the custom route instead.

The case was made for me by a dude on SRK, I did the art and put it all together... The wiring is appaaaaaaalling as it was my first attempt.

All Sanwa, wired to a Cthulu PCB for PS3 and PC. I might get it dual modded when I eventually pick up another 360 over here...

that's really nice. nice touch putting the button names away up in the corner, too.

my replacement TE arrived today but i wasn't in, because it was due tomorrow so it's tomorrow i've booked off work. the delivery man apparently decided that, rather than try again tomorrow, he wanted to reach up and drop it over my 8' high garden fence onto the paving slabs on the other side. i think it's a goner.
