Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

The B button on my SE has already become kinda sticky; it only happens when i press it by it's southern most point so it doesn't affect me during play, but does tempt me into looking into switching the buttons out for more attractive colours. I assume switching out the art for the SE has already been covered in this thread, so i'm gonna look into how easy it may or may not be once I'm on something with more pixels than my phone. I want people to say "Ooh, that's a nice stick".

It was a little tricky, since the OBSF-30s needed a little shaving with a craft knife so they'd fit in nicely. Here's the proof!

dsc01280c.jpg

You don't need to bother shaving them down, just ram 'em in and they'll be fine! Any shaving that needs to be done will occur naturally at this point. :(

Dunno about anyone else, but the 5-pin connector on the stick was very loose after I'd stuck a JLF in there. It came off while I was in the middle of a game very soon after! I just wanged some tape on it, hasn't come off since.

Oh well, I tried brute forcing it, but I probably wasn't strong enough! :(

The 5 pin in the SE seemed really loose yeah, I'll watch out for that. Good tip! :(

Yep, Willei. My JLF connector was loose too (on my PS3 SE), and I just whapped some insulating tape on it after noticing. Seemed odd that there was no 'click' to it. Had no problems though.

And my OBs just got shoved in also. :( Tight fit, but I figured that was the point.

Yep, OBSF's shouldn't need shaving but they are tight - it stops them moving about in use!

They really weren't going in the holes, and they're nowhere near loose now - you can't turn them around.

It was the tiny little ridges just under the top part that were too fat. The SE's holes were a little tight, but it's cool.

Modded my OG TE finally, dubbed the "geldra stick" which is it's official name now, even with the friend who helped me mod out. Anyway sorry my pictures always suck I think the camera settings are messed up but I can never be othered to correct them. It makes stuff look dusty when it is just weird lighting. It looks nicer in the flesh trust me

Was fairly straightforward except that rewiring the black buttons as the triggers was a bit tricky as the wire length is shorter for those connects so when you closed the stick, the wires bunched up and it wouldn't close properly. Took so very intense organising and spacing to make it all work- tested it all out for around 30 mins and everything seems good. To my fingers they feel almost the same in terms of execution, but a little flatter and smoother than sanwas. I like them. I'm also damn glad that the trigger PCB issue won't effect me in the middle of a match now ever again- yahoo! so now the layout is:

LT X Y LB

RT A B RB

I also dug out and took a quick pic of my old psone stick which was used on the PS3 via a pega adaptor that I'm about to retire since I have the Round 2 now. Was a lovely thing though and may still use it on my PS2 now and again

Thanks- yeah in the future may finally order that plexi glass with art perhaps or maybe just a black plexi from the guy discussed a page or two ago plus another two blue skelly buttons to finish the look. For now I'm gonna stick with this for now though, can't afford to splooge any more on sticks as I need to buy two copies of Super

FAO: Magical Olly or any of the other guys that go to Casino.

What are the super springy levers they use in the SFIV machines in there? I casually strolled in to kill some time last weekend, and kinda liked the intense springyness, although the unfamiliarity took a little getting used to.

I had to do the same thing, two minutes with a screwdriver and the ridges are history, then the buttons fit fine.

Anyway, due to all the info and shiny pictures in here, I decided to bite the bullet and pimp my stick. I picked that famous japanese "big wave" pic for the art, and decided to use the opportunity to get rid of the two end buttons as i'm always hitting them by accident. The plexi and art finally arrived and after a tense half hour swearing at some tight buttons, it's done^_^

It's a complete accident, but I really like how the white buttons look like they've got spray showering from them, as they rise from the ocean like a giant... set of buttons. Now I've got something calming to look at when i'm getting my arsed kicked, and my better half is less unhappy with having this thing in the living room. Next step is a white bubble top and dust washer I think; anyone know where I can get one from the UK? I'm not too keen on paying american postage costs again.

So, I went out stick hunting around Derby yesterday, as I was with the missus visiting her Mum. All I could find was the one TE round 2 stick in HMV for £150. So I left Derby empty handed, and headed back to Aberdeen on the train (,alone as the missus was planning to have some girly time with her Mum for a few days extra).

After an arduous eight hour journey, I finally got home to a our pet ratties not wanting as much attention as I had expected them to want. Feeling dejected, I made my way over to the phone to give the missus a ring to tell her I'd got back.

She answered with the following.

"I'm getting your Birthday present early... SE or TE?"

"Pardon?"

"SE or TE?"

"Erm, I think you know what my answer would be hun..."

"TE it is!"

I love my missus so much! :D;):omg::D:omg::lol:

I shall soon be a member of the cool stick club! Where's the secret treehouse, and what do I need to say to gain entry? :omg:

i'm gonna set to work on some image stuff today. right now i am very tempted by the idea of a belle and sebastian fightstick.

Kevvy, definitely get rid of the two on the right. They're not natural, dammit!

This would say otherwise!

Nice to see. Silly ShopTo pictures!

Anyway, it's all irrelevant now. I just spunked up for a Round 1 TE at £99, free delivery. ;) Not quite in the same league as those £55-70 pricepoints that have been flashing in and out of existence, but oh well.

This picture of a Round 2 TE for the 360,

XB2AC17.jpg

and this one of the PS3 stick,

PS3AC24.jpg

Is that right? The 360 one comes with those yucky coloured buttons?

The one I've just got for the 360 doesn't look like that:

41J5Of3ZCGL.jpg

I was wondering about the buttons on it, they look, feel and sound exactly the same as the buttons on my SE. Is there much difference between sanwa and the SE buttons? should I be able to notice any difference? Buttons aside, the stick is miles better, but that could just be because I've loosened the SE stick by mashing SPDs during Carlito's difficult lk links...

Edit: picture was the ps3 version ;)

Also, the artwork is different on the stick with coloured buttons, it has the super logo, where as mine has the normal sf4 logo. Have the made a round 2 mk2?

that is the new 'S' stick, as they arent making the normal TE anymore

TE rounds 1 and 2 are both the same shape, different artwork/colours. the S doesnt have the side peices, and is a slightly different shape.

the 360 one does have the coloured buttons though, which i think is a requirement of microsoft.

So there's three sticks out there, a TE original, a TE Round 2 and a TE 'S'? Confusing!

And GC Zombie, you should find that the Sanwa buttons are a hell of a lot more responsive than the default SE ones. Just a light pat on them will register an input, rather than needing to really press the bugger down. I'd like to think the Sanwas are a good deal more resilient too.

EDIT: Just to clarify those pics I posted, they're from ShopTo and the products are labelled on the site as 'Round 2'. So that's wrong?

EDIT2: I'm going insane. Ignore that edit. ;)

Hello, President of the Cool Stick club here- you need the ceritificate inside the box of your TE to gain entrance to our clubhouse- we don't sit in trees, people who can attain luxury such as the TE sticks sit in fine houses.

We have a scanner as well to check if your certificate is authentic, already had some bloody EX2 owners trying to sneak in with counterfeit certs ;)

The original TE just had a few cosmetic rereleases and limited editions.

They are:

Standard TE

Comiccon TE (only 250 made)

sf4fightstick2.jpg

Femme fatale TE

MvC2 TE

pa.162466.4.jpg

Asian only TE

And the Round 2, of which the first 100 were sold with small dogs

The above are all the same internally and have the same body, just diff art, colour buttons/bezels sides etc

The Super TE sticks or the TE:S are more or less the same interally but they have full panel artwork and the white plastic vewlix like sides taken off and a new PCB. Some cost cutting measures essentially. They come with either white based art or black- and the 360 versions have the four colour ABXY buttons on them. Strange that was not forced on the earlier TE's.
