Rllmuk Arcade Stick Thread

You can pick up the Round 1 Tournament Edition stick for £100 all in from here. Some places have been doing it cheaper (£55-70-ish) on clearance, but they jump in and out of stock and can be difficult to grab. Shop around, but that site up there is certainly an option.

Could someone give me a quick run-down on this LT/RT triggers issue withe TEs please? I've read about it a couple times since the sticks were released but didn't pay much attention since I never had one. It's happening this morning though, baffling the shit out of me at first when I kept inexplicably missing HK inputs. I've googled it and search for it on this forum even, but I seem to be failing miserably at finding the right combination of search-words. Found a few threads on SRK talking about resistors and whatnot, but no simple explanation of the problem and common fixes.

Is it really, really shitty or just annoying? If anyone else suffered from it, what's the solution?

I've just popped the top open and swapped a couple of wires around (LB for RT, so both Trigger buttons are now relegated to the two disabled buttons on the far right).

Gonna buy my first stick ever today. Understandably, it will take some getting used to as I've only ever performed quarter circles on a dpad my entire life.

I'm gonna treat myself to the top-of-the-line...what would you guys recommend? (PS3 btw)

I've never had this issue my self, but yes, that should sort it out. Banish those Triggers!

I'm awaiting my Black Pexi 6 button top for my TE :omg: gonna look great.

I also plan to swap the button placement around, to resemble this -

X Y rb

A B lb

doesn't seem to happen to me, but uzi had that problem and did just what you've done. it's apparently a PCB issue so not easy to "fix". unplugging and then reconnecting the controller will make them start working again, but obviously you don't really want to do that mid-match so relegating those two connections to your two least-used buttons is probably your best bet!

I'm gonna swap one of the rightmost buttons for my B button on my stick so I can get back to using it. I was simply gonna click it out and swap them physically, but then I realized that the B button is used frequently in the menus to go back, so it's not gonna work that way. :omg:

Those two wire things plugging into each button... can I just pull those out? I'm scared i'll bend them or something and destroy them forever. I cant really afford to be replacing anything with new parts, so a swap around is gonna have to be the answer.

Cooly cool. Nice to know that unplugging and replugging should work, since they occasionally get used in messages.

EDIT: ^replying to Alistarr.

Joffo, the pins in the buttons are tweaked on pretty tight. Do you have a pair of needle-nose pliers? That's what I used and also positioned my shin just behind my hands to stop me pulling further than necessary once they came out. You can always prise the metal open a little bit which will make them come out nice and easily, but then you'll need to ensure you can squeeze them back on tightly after you swap them around.

You know that dick who posts 83 pages into a topic and starts asking questions that have already been answered multiple times? Yes, indeed, I am that dick. Sorry, but the search has failed me

For my sins, I have a Madcatz SF4 SE stick, and inevitably, it has started to die. Since I'm too cash-poor to treat myself to a TE, that means it's modding time, so I'd like to get a decent stick and better buttons while I'm at it. I found the replacement stick I need without too much of a problem (JLF-TP-8YT in case anyone else is in the same position), but I'm at a loss when it comes to which buttons will fit/work. Ideally I'm also looking to block off buttons 7 and 8. Are buttons a universal size, or do I need a specific type?

Glad to be of some use.

By the way, you might wanna make sure you have a pair of little needle-nose pliers for swapping the button connects. It's the only fiddly bit of modding an SE stick.

Fucking hell Dogs, that's canny mint that. I love it man. Good skills on copping that!

Thanks, guy. I'm just waiting to decide for sure who I'm using in Super (I've been rinsing Cody but I'm keeping an open mind) then I'll be sorting some artwork out.

Sorry if this is a noob question but is the super sf4 TE stick out? If so any links to where I can buy one for the 360?

yeah it's out. shopto.net had them for pre-order, don't know if they still have them or not. search for "fightstick" and see what comes up.

After looking everywhere (in Dubai) for TE stick to no avail, I couldn't resist anymore and bought the Standard Edition FightStick instead.

Did I fuck up in doing so, or is the stick alright for an intermediate player such as myself?

I'm happy about it anyway. Maybe i'll upgrade to a TE stick once I become a little bit better/hardcore.

The SE is fine in the short-term, it's just not as nice to use as the TE.

In the long term, the sticks are prone to breaking, and the buttons become unresponsive. Though I'm sure that's not the case with every SE stick, sadly it seems to be the case for the majority. The good news is that, when they do break, it's supposed to be very straightforward to open up and replace the dodgy parts with Sanwa equivalents, and live happily ever after. I'll be doing it myself in a few days, once all my bits arrive, so if it's not as simple as everyone claims, I'll be sure to mention it :)

My SE RT and LT buttons decided to cease working last night :o Seems to be an inherent problem but will need to call Mad Catz now to see what they can do to help...

The one that came from me? It has not had more than 5 or 6 hours light use. It was my spare 2p stick.

I may still have the reciept if you need it?

Unfortunately so - I've only used it for a couple of hours with Blazblue and SSFIV (even though I said I wouldn't buy it! :P) then the issue appeared.

I'll see what Mad Catz have to say first and will let you know - but thanks devil-goh :o

In the interim period I'll just remap my buttons to overcome the issue.

I mentioned it earlier, but a follow-up: the LT and RTs on my one week-old TE seem to be well and truly shagged, not just intermittently as I first hoped. Tried the unplugging/replugging thing but no joy. It's no huge problem since SSF4 doesn't actually use those buttons, but it's definitely a little bit annoying because I can't put shit like commas, apostrophes and question marks in my XBL messages.

Would definitely be interested in what they say to you Pootle.

A couple of times my standard fightstick has just frozen up, accepting no inputs and the stick stuck in one position. Replugging the thing sorts it out. Couldn't really care less for practice and casual play, but I won't be taking it to any tournaments. This is a massive shame since the size and weight of it makes it much nicer to cart around than the TE! I also had problems with the stick being very picky about low diagonals, you had to be forcing it right into the corner for them to register. Thankfully I had a couple of Sanwa sticks lying around anyway, but I don't imagine most people are so lucky!

Can't really recommend it, which is a shame. FWIW, the Tatsunoko stick for the Wii is the same chassis but has had none of these problems during my use. If they make a Round 2 fightstick or whatever, I'm sure it'll be much improved.
