Best iPad specific TD games anyone please? I have loads of iPhone TD games, but want something native to enjoy on my new iPad.

It's annoying that you can't browse game apps by genre when using the app store from an iPad.

Edit: Aha, you can search by subcategory.

Have you tried Anomaly: Warzone Earth? It's sort of Tower Offence but I rather enjoyed it.

I can't say i'm too much of a TD aficionado but Kingdom Rush is very good fun.

Davros, thanks - got that one on my phone already, but agree it's an interesting take on TD.

Thanks g wings, I've given it a go. Seems to tick all the boxes, but not been able to spend much time with it so far.

I also gave Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land a go. Not iPad specific, nor TD, but the heavily Gollup inspired gameplay and Lovecraftian setting make this a compelling TBS. This may give Shadow Wars on the 3DS a run for its money in my affections.

Edit: I'll check out Towers & Trolls too - thanks.

Perhaps not a traditional game but I've just released my latest app on iPhone: Fun Folds (£0.69)

http://www.funfolds.com

It lets you fold Ross Kemp Folds style photos on your iOS 5 device. There's some emergent gameplay forming in the community where people are battling to outdo each other folding "super deformed" celebrities.

Anyway, thoughts appreciated. :)

Towers & Trolls is pretty good as a TD and was on sale a week back

It really stands out when games don't have any sort of intro levels any more.

I had to *gulp* go and read the help section to work out what the crystal things I was picking up were for.

A lack of RPG style upgrading of tower ability (ala Kingdom Rush, or my favourite Cursed Treasure) is a shame too.

Still, it's only 69p so not exactly a gamble.

Why do we have to keep all iOS gaming discussion in this thread? I'd say I did the majority of my gaming on ios now, so that must be becoming increasingly common. It's not like we have an 'Xbox 360 Gaming' thread. Sure, we've had a few breakout threads with Enscripted and Draw Something, but do we need to keep most iOS gaming ghettoised in here? Don't be ashamed of your iOS gaming, be free!

I don't think many iOS games generate that much discussion, do they? When they do they generate a thread, but most have a fairly short lifespan of interest, which suits this thread.

Personally these days I do all my gaming on ios devices, but I wouldn't be posting that much about the majority of them.

This thread is about the service. There IS an Xbox LIVE Arcade thread, for example. If you want to start a thread about a specific game nobody's stopping you, although most games don't get even ten posts about them in this thread which suggests there's not really enough interest in specific iOS games beyond those few.

Any recommendations for an iPad game with a bit of depth to it? Nothing too arcadey... something with a campaign or long season or something to playthrough?

I'd really like something like Theme Hospital, or maybe a decent RPG?

Not sure if I'm asking too much. I've played all the Kariosoft titles that I care to, and I've got Simcity but it's a bit limited...

Any thoughts?

Battle for Wesnoth, a nice sRPG along the lines of a more complex Fire Emblem or something like that, which has loads of (long) campaigns. It is available for free on PC and you can sync your saves between versions, I believe. Apparently Avernum is very good too.

There is a distinct lack of what you're looking for on iOS, though.

Sketch Nation Shooter is out and a bargain at 59p. Vertical shooter, gameplay isn't bad but the real bonus is being able to draw your own enemies and ship.

You can either use the simple option where you just change the player icon and three of the enemy ones, or you can go for a slightly more detailed set-up.

You take photos of the sketch you want to use with your iPhone camera- although if you don't have an iPhone you can just use your photo library on the iPod. I've been using the free Sketch Book Express app and then taking a screenshot of it to import. Dead simple and a lot of fun. Support full colour stuff too.

So far resisted the temptation for some sort of hideous penis versus vagina shmup, but I've only had it for an hour or so.

There's a follow-up now - Sketch Nation Studio - which supposedly supports more game styles...

Bullistic Unleashed is a mildy diverting 69p get 3 coins physics puzzler.

You drag bulls back by their balls in an Angry Birds style launcher whilst wrecking a shopping mall.

Its a bit trial an error in places and aims for whacky bad taste in places but it looks quite nice, has a few ideas, and I don't feel the need to get much out of something costing 69p.

Angry Birds Space got an update. 10 Free Space Birds to thank everyone for making it so popular, but more interestingly an additional 10 levels featuring orbiting pigs. I hope they've made it more stable too. It kept crashing on me.
