Re: Saturday Morning RPG, the battle system was an utter chore when it launched, but the developer has listened to a ton of feedback about it and the game has been updated to streamline it a lot. You don't have to tap to charge every fucking turn now, so if you played it before it's worth re-downloading and seeing what you think now.

The Sandbox came out last night for FREE. It's more of a toy than a game, I suppose. You basically just drop loads of elements and see how they react with one another, mess with the weather to see how that affects stuff and perform little tasks to unlock more elements. I'm not sure there's any real end goal or anything, but it's fun to waste a few minutes in just to see what does what.

IAP is in the form of MANA which you buy more elements with, but at the start of the game at least it's not stingy with it, not sure how it changes as it goes on but the initial download is free, so may as well give it a go.

Also, MotoHeroz just went free. That's the RedLynx one, like trials but with buggies and inevitably shit on iOS but worth a try at least.

Anyone got Final Freeway 2? It's bloody great sequel to a bloody great OutRun clone. The little on-screen steering wheel is brilliant, too.

Thanks for the recommendation. Just installed it on my iPad and it's excellent, silky smooth and 60 fps. Now just need to pop the original music on and it's a good an outrun clone you could hope for short of Sega bringing it to iOS.

Hadn't even *thought* of trying it on my iPad!

Ha ha, even for free this is rubbish.

After 1000 Heroz I was expecting big things but its just awful; collectable coins for "upgrades" so that I can get more than one star on a level, power ups which mean I have to try & fly my car to the finish line rather than driving it & that's only the third level.

So, so pleased I didn't spend any money, I was expecting Trials in a car but got this. :(

Same. I actually enjoyed the first couple of levels but as soon as the first power-up appeared, that was it. I tried to fight through it, upgraded my car a couple of times and then noticed that there were about ten more cars so it felt like I'd basically just wasted all the coins I'd earned already. Then it splashed up a full screen advert for something irrelevant and elsewhere tried to get me to watch a video for Dream Heights. This isn't a game.

that's a shame as on the wii it's actually pretty good, still no where near as good as trials but that's more because trials is amazing.

Don't get me wrong, I see a lot of potential in it. The controls were pretty good, car felt nice & if they'd have gone the Trials route of just having a range of standard vehicles, perhaps with cosmetic tweaks which could be IAPs ( kind of like Motorstorm ) it would have been a lot better IMO. But as soon as you start introducing upgrades & items it means the playing field isn't level anymore & there's almost no point racing ghosts or having leaderboards.

Next time I boot up 1000 Heroz, I'm fully expecting new shoe "upgrades" to have been introduced, the more cash you spend, the faster you go!
