Has anyone tried Mini Motor Racing yet? It's currently free for both iPhone and iPad versions. I've only played a couple of races but it's certainly very drifty.

To the app mobile!

Edit: Close, but still not quite there. It's too zoomed in, and although you can put the controls on the left and right of the screen the area you can press is tiny.

I'll give it a more extended play later though. It's free, so nothing to lose really.

Actually, after playing a cup or two Mini Motor Racing is not bad at all. I really, really wish I could zoom the camera out, but it's very playable and the presentation is slick. And it's free! Thanks Mr Hendo.

Yeah I agree with wanting it zoomed out. It does make a little sense though as some tracks are reversed but also some are played with the camera at a slightly different angle.

I'm also playing with the tank controls, couldn't get on with the virtual steering wheel.

I'm nearly through the Fruit Ninja cup, it's been good fun so far.

Hearing good things about Virtua Tennis from a mate, anyone here played it? I don’t trust recommendations unless they come via the internet.

It takes a little while to get the hang of the difference between moving your player and playing the shot - doing the training is essential - but once I was over that it's the best tennis game I've played on any system. One particularly good thing about it is that your opponent definitely raises his game if he's falling behind, so racking up a 4-0 lead is no guarantee of taking the set. Playing it yesterday, an hour-long train journey seemed to take about two minutes.

"Magnetic Billiards: Blueprint is a deep and rewarding game which seems very obvious at first, but only reveals all of its subtleties slowly, through many short play sessions over days and weeks," frothed Ste, "and at such a low price we think it offers way better value than any console or PC game."

Was Ste really frothing? Might need to get that looked at if so :)

Played a lot of Magnetic Billiards on holiday, I've racked up nowhere near the amount of hours some players have but it's one that's always on my phone and I'll pop back to it every so often.

Just bought Magnetic Billiards. Only done the first few tables, so not sure it's "clicked" yet.

The idea of doing it all in one short getting you a low score seems sacrilegious but I'm sticking with it what with all the fuss over it.

It's all about taking as many shots as possible and making the most of each shot. I must admit to being surprised at how many people found that idea a bit counter-intuitive.

I'm theoretically nowhere near, but if you summed iPad (32 hrs) and iPhone, and then added on hours spent playing the arcade games in the previous version, it'd be some form of scary figure.

I understand it, but I'm not a hundred percent won over over why it's like that, (in that I think what's so far been fun about it could have probably been just as fun if it had worked the other way.)

Can I ask where you guys would say the main meat of the game is? I've just realised most of the tables are not included in the base game, so there's "only" 20 levels there, but these chaps who play for >100 hours, are they spending their time on the tables (presumably the ones you have to buy) or on the arcade mode?

And if you don't mind me asking (sorry if you've answered this elsewhere in this thread), how many of your players end up buying tables/skeleton keys/UNDollars? I'm just asking out of curiosity as to how well in App purchases have been working for you.

Gauge is an interesting but very simple high score chaser (search for gauge the game, not the US booze test DUI thing)

you simply tap to keep a bar in the zone near the edge of the screen then a second bar kicks in that works at a different speed, very simple, few flashing lights going on, plus its free to try it out.

Guys,

What are the best logic puzzle games on iOS at the moment? I have Piczle Lines and a basic Slitherlink, but I am also after a good Picross, Sudoku and Kakuro.

It's a minefield out there, so wondered if anyone had any experience of these. I don't mind they are all in a single game or separate.

Get the various Pathpix games if you want more Piczle Lines.

CrossLogic Unlimited is the best Picross game. If you've got an iPad there's also Oh! Cube which is Picross 3D. Picross 3D was shit but I know some people like it, for some inexplicable reason.

KenKen by Capcom is essential. Actually, upon looking, this might be deleted. Shame, it's brilliant.

Not sure about what's good for Sudoku, since there are about a million Sudoku apps.

Kakuro... haven't found a good one. I'd quite like a decent Hidato game too but there isn't one of those, either.

Are you just looking for pencil and paper logic puzzles, or do you want more videogamey ones too?

All-In-1 Logic GameBox is good, by AppZap.

Thanks, will check those out.

Pencil and Paper logic puzzles, but open to some videogamey ones.

Edit: Is this the KenKen you were on about? http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/kenken-premium-edition/id485694706?mt=8

Nah, it's not that one, it was by Capcom. There's a review of it here but the game itself I think has been removed. Still, KenKen is awesome, so maybe that one above is worth a try anyway!

Blockoban is a good one. It literally has thousands of levels that will last a lifetime, made by the community on bonuslevel.org.

That would have been my videogamey recommendation! Amazing game.

Also:

Blocks Mania

Another Puzzle Devil

Cat Physics

Denki Blocks

Marblenauts

SaveToshi DX

Trainyard

Just tried it out, it's pretty sweet actually. I was thinking on my first few goes that it wasn't all that hard, but then I just had a higher scoring run and it started going nuts and gets really tough.
