Off the Leash is ok, not dissimilar to Jetpack Joyride. Was addicted to it briefly a few weeks back.

Fairway Solitaire is a must.

Fairway Solitaire is superb. I usually just want to get on with the game and hate too much presentation but I found myself not really minding.

And Zombie Gunship will get more play too.

My only complaint about fairway was that it didn't really get any harder or offer up different stuff as you progressed it. Its a solid game, shame they couldn't mix up the core experience a little though to make you want to unlock the later courses.

This and Undercroft are probably the iOS games I've enjoyed the most. I thought I'd had enough of Zombie Gunship, but I'd not played the new suburban level, which is awesome. That and the new objectives (fire only one gun for two minutes for example) have drawn me right back in with a vengeance. Superb game full stop, never mind being just a superb iOS game.

Come on, someone else take the dip with tiny troopers, I think its probably my fave iOS game now. Its bloody brilliant. The tension you have when your most levelled up soldier is on low health and you have to creep around the far flung corners of the map to try and find some media packs is brilliant.

The in game currency seems quite well balanced so that you can't just buy all the big weapons and go in heavy handed every level. Its pretty tactical.

Lovely looking, makes me want an iPad to play it on as the extra screen size would be great.

Ok, I'll give it a punt.

Been playing Baseball Superstars. I only very peripherally know Baseball but the weird cross between a simplified baseball game and a JRPG is quite appealing.

I felt the same about Mario Golf - Advance Tour now I think about it.

After few hours play my only complaint on Tiny Troopers is that the difficulty ramps up quite a bit in the later levels meaning holding onto your leveled up characters will prove close to impossible I fear. 1 of my guys had been with me since the beginning and on level 11 I lost them all. It then took me about 6 attempts to clear the stage. The good thing is the medals that you collect allow you to train your soldiers so recruits come in at a higher level.

So now I am already planning my second play through as not doing the missions blind should allow for at least a chance of carrying one or two the full way.

They really have struck a perfect balance with the in game currency though. You will want to destroy everything in a level and find all the collectibles to give you more cash. But you will also want to spend as little as possible in way of extra equipment though to ensure you have cash to spend when you really need it. But then if you have a leveled up soldier you wont want to risk losing him. For big cash you can also take along one extra specialist soldier with you. However every level can be completed without buying anything and using the equipment you find on the map.

So just how close is tiny troopers to cannon fodder?

I only mention it going by the reviews, and the fact that I am aware of the graphical style of Cannon fodder, so cant say for sure personally

the game play is you have a squad of between 2 and 4, you touch the screen where you want to advance to. while moving you can also touch where you want to shoot. The levels are large and scrolling, and you normally have one or two objectives per map. You can collect medi pacs, rocket launchers, grenades etc to help along the way, and also have extra collectibles for points such as dog tags.

Your little guys if you keep them alive level up gaining better armour and fire power as they go. Once they die though they are gone forever. the game balances this by allowing you to train new recruits to a set standard depending on how many medals you have found in the game.

all the weapons you can buy or medals for training are gained through gameplay, although has the usual IAP for those who want to speed up things.

It plays and controls brilliantly. At 69p I am sure it would easily grab the no.1 position, no idea where it currently sits, I seen it on the apple featured section.

Tiny Troopers might have to wait a little while, as I started Wolfenstein RPG and it's quite addictive.

I am desperately craving a proper sequel to Undercroft though. My missus is playing it at the moment (35 hours sunk into it!), and it's reminded me just how much fun it is. There's The Quest, but that's absolute pants. I can't quite believe there aren't masses of Dungeon Master-alikes for iOS, I would hoover them up. I know Legend of Grimrock is coming, but you actually need to be fairly nimble on the WASD to play that, so I'm not sure it will work that well.

I almost did (and still will) but I got distracted by project extraction when I was looking at reviews of it :) Its free and if not similar it is interesting

The 1.99 pricepoint doesnt bother me at all... that is impulse purchase territory

You let me down Davros!!

Its a shame, I thought the forum would really go for this one. If this was Vita everyone would have it and be raving about it. Quite hard to get people on board with an iOS game at £1.99.

It looks really good, was just saving it for a proper session. The missus has been hogging the iPad, but then I tried Wolfenstein on the bog this morning, and that was that!

Mentazm, where are you stuck? It's all pretty fresh in my mind at the moment.

I have bought it on your recommendation, haven't got round to trying it yet though. :)

Also just bought Worms 2.

It seems Worms 2 has had asynchronous play added to it, finally making it worthwhile! Also 69p at the moment.

maybe it's just me, but turn notifications just aren't coming through (the first one did but since then nothing) rendering it pretty useless :(
