I'm enjoying Kingdom Rush Frontiers but it is just the same game right?

Shouldn't this have been a free update or am I missing something?

There are notable differences, namely tower changes, different heroes with a levelling system, all new maps with different real-time map changes etc. I'm only a few maps in and I expect there will one or two more differences I've not seen yet too.

I don't think it could have been a free update without bankrupting the developers.

I'm not sure why it should have been a free update. That's like saying any game with a common game engine should be free.

There is clearly a lot of development that has gone in to this game and its hardly like they charge a huge amount. I would happily pay for new editions every year based on how much play time the game provides.

This. I'm not sure the original had different levels of difficulty either, and they did add another twenty or so levels in a free content pack (I think - I remember finishing it, and then there being an update).

Pretty sure original did have different difficulty levels.

I rinsing this at the mo, so I'm not complaining about 1.99 really, but in the context of the general pricing structure of mobile games, is one that isn't a great deal more than extra level packs worth that price?

Perhaps 99p for existing owners?

I know it's all just a few quid so not worth talking about to some, but the principle is the same as full priced games IMO.

You don't pay full whack for Fifa whatever, and then the following year pay full whack for essentially the same game with minor updates

Oh wait....

I'm loving the necromancer tower. Having loads of skeleton minions really really helps.

It's tricky though. Seems harder than the last one. I miss the level 4 big bombard with rockets, the ed209 doesn't seem as good

Absolutely love Kingdom Rush, although I am only about 5 levels in and hit a difficulty spike. Taken me about 6 or 7 attempts so far with my last go reaching wave 14 of 15.

How do you kill the massive dude with the axe? Seems like that’s a given loss of five hearts straight away.

My tactics so far have been flood the mouth where the enemies come from with troops including your back and the hero. Then have a a couple of towers in tight behind to bombard the choke point. Then try and get towers down the centre path that covers both routes. I also have a tendency to favor upgrading my troops to assassin level above all else, just cause they feel so bad ass.

Good news on FF Tactics, hopefully it’s a bit cleaner looking now and less sluggish. Will download again.

Is he the chap that

Smashes through the jungle halfway through

I found that

Building lots near the mouth of the ship to begin with but as you are able to overwhelm them start building around that u-turn near where he comes out... I try and slowly get a Dwarp tower and enable it with the burning floor ability too. Then it's just a case of keeping him pre-occupied with grunts until he's dead.

Probably the best tip for Kingdom Rush is to upgrade the furthest right panel to the maximum first. Having the extra dudes who can throw spears and axes and you can place anywhere on the map is super handy.

This. Deffo. Plus making the fire rain leave burnt bits on the floor.

I tend to build up from the back, rather than the front. And leave the barrack upgrades to mid/late game or when you need men in an emergency as upgrading gives an instant respawn.

Make sure you've a good mix of firepower. Mages are more useful in later levels. Make sure you're getting your cannons covering choke points so you can use dudes to hold up baddies in their firing range.

The necro tower is by far my favourite in this game.

Yeah, that was the guy. I got past it in the end with one star and I am now on level 9, however replaying it now to get the extra stars to help me at my latest difficulty spike.

Got to say this is the perfect iOS game for me, absolutely loving it. Got a good mix of strategy and grinding with some nice real time interaction that doesnt require using compromised touchscreen controls.

Best iOS game to date for me, and also best Tower defense I have played. I always thought tower defense with pre determined building points were inferior but this has made me change my mind.

10/10

Ooh, you mean if I buy the original or just keep playing through this one?

Getting my son (ahem) an ipad mini at the end of the month, and thinking this on it would be amazing, anyone know if your progress is linked to game centre or the device?
