Sneaky, sneeeeeeeakyyyyy...

Tellya what, it's all about the little things for me like turning at the last second and catching an approaching stabber doin' a Sam Fisher, then stabbing him. Doesn't happen often enough but Christ I smile like a lunatic when it does...I've even started obviously positioning myself just in hope.

I've started laying Claymores, then firing an unsilenced weapon near the approach to encourage people to walk into them. And they do...

Last night I WAS the jungle on Rundown, hiding in the bushes with Cold-blooded, Ninja Pro and Silenced gear, the other team were getting picked off all over the place. It culminated in me shooting a guy in the back just as he started collecting his care package - he must have had the collection meter on his screen. I nicked it and it was a Pave Low :D I used it against them and carried on picking them off in the jungle like I was the Predator or something. Hugely fun.

Do any off the perks stop you detonating claymores? Ninja pro or Cold Blooded pro?

I think Sitrep Pro delays them

if you see it, just run straight over it as fast as you can.

Or flash/stun them to disable them for a few seconds

I used to hate Rundown but I love that grassy/forest section now, that side of the map is so fun to play in. Sneaking around the grass, knifing guys, and when the fight gets too intense, sprint back over the bridge and try to flank them. Matches on Rundown (on TDM) used to just be one team each side of the river, covering the bridges. Now that people know where the window spots are, they can take the guys out and quickly sprint across the bridges to make things much more entertaining. And with a ninja class it's great to flank behind the enemy team who think that the other team's on the other side of the river, there's so many hidey holes you can hit and run for ages.

Silent Runner - none of the perks stop you detonating them, but one of them delays the explosion, so if you're sprinting you won't die. Can't remember which it is.

I had a big sniping fest yesterday but god it's boring. I'm crap at sniping and it seems suicide to go to assault weapon ranges. Even with thermal people run too fast across the screen to get. Compared to how often you see enemies/get kills with other weapons I don't know why anyone bothers!

If they just added a theatre function like Halo 3 this game would be perfect. On Quarry, in that building at the top of the hill with the high walkway and window spot, I was at the window at the back which overlooks the alley and the other building with the window facing it, I threw a flashbang into the other building through the window and got a double kill because it blew up the explosive barrel that two enemies were next to :D

Also got a quality triple kill with one Semtex earlier on Underpass when they were all camping the building at the back of the map.

I was on last night with Kerraig, Timmo, Spazmok3y, Tony Play, Biscuitpow3r and Little Joe - it was easily one of the most fun session I've ever had. Because everyone's trying to get the nuances of this game down, I'd forgotten about the lulz that arise from just being in a party with a bunch of your mates. Some cracking insults flying around and the joint celebration that was had the game we pulled victory from the jaws of defeat (getting pwned in domination - we managed to grab all three flags with the score at 145-187 and win 200-199 :omg: ) - such a laugh.

I'm on again after the RLLMUK kick-about see you all about 5?

A large amount of my friends are doing a lot of complaining about this game. "oh man I hate noob tubers/akimbos/snipers/pavelows" etc and I think ive nailed the frustration. Theres so much variety and as much balancing that one single class is never good for all situations. Whereas in COD4 all you needed was an m16 with stopping power and a red dot in any game type on any map to stand a chance, in this there will always be a certain situation where your load out gets beaten in the rock paper scissors stakes.

For me I think this is fantastic, as it always allows the other team a chance of turning the tables and stops you being pinned back and raped. In COD4 it tended to be us pinning the other team back and I think my friends enjoyed being all powerful. Now they need to think, plan and counter a bit more they're not liking the vulnerability. I watched Biscuitpower in the games we played last night and his positioning was fairly weak throughout.

It still needs some tweaks, most notably the sudden death rounds need to be sorted out on CTF and Demolition, lightweight and marathon should both be perk 1 slots and i'd personally drop the akimbos, but other than that this is incredible

I couldn't agree more. The only thing I think is unbalanced is the range akimbo shotguns seems to have - I've been one shot killed on Highrise stood on top of the liftshaft next to the massive gas canister when the akimbo dude was inside the office building that holds 'C'. That's nearly half the map. Granted it is the smallest map, but still. Apart from that, all the weapons seem useful to some degree - we just half to learn how to combat all the builds.

And for the record for everyone that ever plays with me - I'm aware that I can sound like a right moany bastard. However, I'd like to point out that 60-70% of the time I cry "ah that is HORSESHIT", it's nothing to do wth lag, glitches or cheap classes - it's because I got killed when I make a mistake and I'm really frustrated at my self.

I find positioning myself the hardest thing in the game. I usually die because someone else got an angle on me that I hadn't considered, or my location left me exposed, but with some extra knowledge or thought I could have selected an alternate spot. I'd still love to see some videos of the best players on this forum to see just how they position themselves and move about the map.

My tip is to use claymores in all your loadouts. If you're planning on staking out a position, you can trap one approach and forget about it. Even if the claymore doesn't kill an approaching enemy, the sound of the explosion or the 'hit' indicator on your crosshair should let you know that someone's coming. Listen out for flashbangs/stuns too, as they're the easiest way to defeat a claymore. If you have Scavenger, you can move around the map and cover your back wherever you decide to hole up.

In COD4 I had two basic styles - stealth and run-and-gun (plus a sniper class). My other loadouts were just variants of that. In MW2 just changing out a couple of perks or attachments can give you a totally fresh approach. I've got an explosives class after watching that Danger Close video (like everyone else it seems), which is great. I've stalking snipers with the thermal scope and stopping power on the FAMAS (can't wait to unlock it for the M16). I've tried the Ripper setup, which was fun for a while. Maybe I just didn't experment enough in COD4, but there seem to be more viable styles of play in MW2.

The handguns are more effective too. I fucking love getting people with the USP, Jack Bauer style.

I think I have 450 kills with my USP. :)

I have gone back to FFA and running around like a madman. Mostly because I have decided to level up my UMP45, something I neglected because I have always liked the P90. The UMP is a fucking beast though. I have got two submachinegun kits at the moment. The standard silenced machine gun, handgun with tactical knife, Marathon Pro, Lightweight Pro, Commando Pro build. You arent invisible on radars, but you never appear when you shoot.

I gave up some of that mobility for firepower. UMP45 with Bling Pro. I have Akimbo and Rapid Fire on the thing, and boy can you lay down a hail of bullets that way. Stopping Power Pro and Steady Aim Pro are the other perks. Its better on the smaller maps where Marathon doesnt seem so essential, but I have been tearing up places like Scrapyard, Highrise and Rust with it. :)

i'd say 2.87 is perfectly achievable by most here is they ignored objectives and just protected their life. A guy i play with UK Shinook is 2.41 while still playing objective games properly.

I think it's the same with everyone, when we play on our own it goes up (I'm disappointed if I'm less than 3:1) but when we play together we're giving our lives for the good of the team. What I'm saying is that you guys are brainwashing me, basically.

Both are endlessly fun, though.

In my opinion this game makes CoD4 look a bit basic. It's better than I ever expected it to be. The way you can make a class to suit you exactly is just brilliant. Speaking of which, my new favourite class:

SCAR with silencer

AA12 with grip

Claymore

2xFlash

Scavenger

Stopping Power

Steady Aim

I've switched out One Man Army for Scavenger. There are so many packs around that regenerating claymores really isn't needed. The number of times I've gone to where someone has died from a claymore, collected their pack, then put a claymore in a very slightly different position only for it to get the same person again is... a lot. A claymore is often as good (or better) as having a team-mate watching an approach. Even if it gets set off without a kill you know someone is there.

The AA automatic shotgun is just too much fun. I never ever get bored with it. Get the grip and it has reasonable range. I win 95% of fights upclose, only the akimbos can beat it.

Finally, I've half dropped ninja after that wings guy spoke about it. Steady aim is great.

I had an epic moment on Scrapyard just now with claymores. You know the corner of the map where all the oil tanks are, including the big one that is on fire? Between the big warehouse and the one with the fork lift truck inside.

257luoi.png

I like to put a claymore in that narrow corridor where the fire is, people barrel through that without looking and it gets lots of kills. Anyway, I drop it in there (where the big red dot is) and double back on myself to head into the very corner of the map. I have no idea how we missed each other, but some guy was coming the other way, he ran right past me and into my trap. Click. Boom. +100. Just as I am smiling to myself, I run into his claymore which is where I put the blue dot on my picture. The killcam was great. I hope his was as fun to watch as mine.

That's fucking awesome. Made even funnier by his taking it waaaaay too seriously comment "I hate this game right now. Like, so much". Perhaps he'll go and punch a wall like his British counterpart.

Im pretty sure that Brummie guy's video is a spoof. Not to the point where I would put money on it, but if you look at any of the other videos on his channel then you will kinda see what I mean.

Wall punch man also made this.

I got three AT-4 multikills last night (4 kills in one shot). The launchers are so fun in this game!

Agreed. After watching the Danger Close video on You Tube I used the class on Afghan last night - cleared out the bunker near the poppy field with the AT-4 before planting a claymore which took out two people when they came back. My mate and I both used that class for a lark on our last match of the night at around 4am on Wasteland. Just used the UGL and the AT-4 into the trenches and kept picking up loads of kills. The UGL is great against snipers in buildings. BOOM! Bye!

My new killstreak setup is just too much fun, even though I rarely get it all out properly. Harrier -> Chopper Gunner -> EMP. I save for the EMP past chopper gunner then hit both at the same time. Got it on scrapyard earlier and got a nice 34-0 from it. Its great to see people run out of the buildings looking up holding stingers then trying to run away when they realise it doesn't work :D

I still cant see the point of the EMP. Actually that is unfair, I guess I mean I can never convince myself to take UMP (its still locked for me) perhaps its that same selfish attitude that stops me taking UAV or Counter UAV (I always assume somebody else will do it for me) but it seems like the other streaks that need less kills are better spent. Maybe its because I tend to use Iron Sights or ACOG which dont really get fucked over by an EMP. Combining it with air support is a good idea, I guess it means you wont get shot down, but I just cant get past the fact that EMP seems awfully expensive to take.

It's very powerful simply because it cant be countered, the loss of your UAV and the haze effect applied to the screen can really fuck people up. Not even knowing where your own team are makes everyone far more vunerable. Didn't think about it disabling Stingers though, that's pretty awesome. :D

Increasingly I'm finding I'm the only person on my team with UAV. Whilst you clearly don't want to be too dependent on them, they're bloody useful, and next to no-one seems to equip them anymore :(
