Majora
You people and your fucking 'last gen' bollocks! Blood Money looks fantastic on PC/360, just because it can also scale down to Xbox levels doesn't make it last-gen. Stop obsessing over generations. I still think graphically the 360 version of Blood Money looks fine. What I mean is that the bloody PS2 could run it and yet it's still way ahead of most new games in a lot of important ways. Pob
There's something satisfyingly stylish about only firing one, unsilenced bullet per mission, for the target, and calmly exiting as people run to see what's going on. I realise this doesn't give Silent Assassin but it's hella cool, which is what the game is about for me. Yeah totally. One bullet, whether it's from a silenced baller up close to the back of the head, or a sniper round from half a mile away. I find the fibre wire almost too neat. I like the slight mess and unpredictability of a bullet. Jeez, what a psycho! I think if I'd change anything, I'd change the mission ratings from being better than one another (i.e. Silent Assassin being the "best" rating), to them just being different, if you see what I mean.Maybe you'd get different exclusive equipment depending on what road you went down as an assassin. Extra toys for the silent assassin, awesome silenced guns from those that use them, super bombs and grenades for people than love explosions, great big machine guns for people that just like to kill 'em all, etc. I dunno, thinking out loud. True, but they always need to keep the Silent Assassin rating, as that's what gives the game its puzzle element. Although it's fun getting the SA ratings, nothing will ever beat the feeling of going into a brand new mission and doing it relatively cleanly first time. I remember I did the Vegas casino mission first time with minimum fuss - properly heart-pounding gaming!
Majora
Obvious feature they need to include in the next game...a bloody record of what ratings you had got on each level! Such an amazingly obvious oversight.
Rudi von Starnberg
You can basically do that in Blood Money (dragging corpses does leave a blood trail which NPCs notice and investigate) but they leave a trail regardless of how cleanly you killed them I think, which is annoying. Rudi von Starnberg
I don't know, I don't tend to use the poison syringe (sedative's my thing, and in the game, hur hur). Fibre wire definitely results in blood trail though.
robdood
Ah, I get all sorts of gooey ideas when I think about 'my own' Hitman game.. But for V, I want only two things. One - better animation/pathfinding. As hanzo said, a big part of Hitman for me is the immersion and getting into character and getting on with my business. Seeing a door open magically by itself, or watching people rotate on the spot before walking off kinda pulls me out of it. Only a bit, thanks to suspension of disbelief, etc - but! We have the technology these days! Nice procedural animation, please! Two - if they insist on having witnesses again, at least give us a way of finding out what exactly they witnessed so we can learn from our mistakes! They could do it as 'police reports' generated in a similar way to the newspapers from the previous game. Used to wind me up something shit in Blood Money, getting one pissing witness. Oh and, since we're here - three! Much better melee combat. And though I half agree with the Bourne-badass-ness, I'm more inclined to go with Snake - just some simple, quick, dare I say 'contextual' takedown moves, to help surpress situations that go awry. (because come ooooon, you know scraping through a ballsed up assassination with some last-minute ninja shit is fucking sweet) No combo strings or 'proper' hand to hand fighting though, just things like the punches/headbutt from BM with much better 'auto aim' and animations Actually I'd like the game to lean more towards improvisation, instead of being the 'puzzle' game it has been in the past. Though I loved going for Silent Assassin on every level on BM, my first playthrough will always be my most memorable; the narrow escapes, shooting fleeing witnesses to prevent police/guards being informed, fucking up bomb detonations, getting busted changing costume far too many times, discovering ledge pushing opportunities, sitting in the treehouse sniping every single person at the barbeque as they went to investigate the corpses, etc etc. Some randomly-generated map layouts could make for an epic epic game of stealth

I was thinking about this, and after playing Siren: Blood Curse recently I was thinking of a small screen popping up in the corner, which shows the viewpoint of the witness in real-time. You would see Agent 47 (you) picking a lock, for example, leaving little doubt as to why you've been spotted. Would this be a good idea?
mr_woo
The Hitman games are a strange beast for me, I want to like them and they really appeal to me, but whenever I play them I just don't get into them. I've bought every single Hitman game so far and ended up selling them relatively quickly. I think the one I lasted for the longest was Hitman 2 and ended up stopping that for whatever. In terms of IO games I would honestly prefer it if they were working on a Freedom Fighters 2, I fucking loved the original. Hell I really liked Kane and Lynch as well up to the jungle parts. The game wasn't finished but I loved the scumbag characters and story, I hope they give that series another chance and Eidos actually gives them time to finish it this time. No doubt whenever a new Hitman comes I'll buy it in a heartbeat, whether I stick with it is another matter.......

I think in my case it's just that I get annoyed with myself for being shite at it. I always fuck it up, without fail and end up guns blazing and not feeling like a badass assassin. Not the games fault at all, just annoying for me

CrispinG
I made this topic last year and it got like 20 pages. The people are restless. They need to take six months out from making a load of shit and getting senior editors sacked and just concentrate on the only thing the world knows them for. They can stick Mall Ninjas. More rubbish.

CrispinG
They're cutting off their nose to spite their face with stuff like Kane & Lynch and this Mini Ninjas thing I haven't even seen a screenshot of (don't need to - title's rubbish). It's like they decided they're fed up with being "the Hitman developer" so they're going to prove their versatility by releasing shit nobody wants! Wiper
You always were an asshole, GormCrispin. Kane & Lynch was shit, mind. But Freedom Fighters vindicates their making games that aren't Hitman. As does the fact that only ever working on a single series for ever and ever only leads to stagnation.

As does the fact that only ever working on a single series for ever and ever only leads to stagnation. Whatever. Fact is, Blood Money is the first Hitman game that really got it right, that nailed the gameplay and atmosphere that the series had been striving for in the previous three games. Fact is, that I really want need a new Hitman game, and I don't want Mini fucking Ninjas.

Sergeant Squid
Death on the Mississippi can fuck right off though, to be fair. What a shit fucking level. Opportunities abound for pushing people off stuff, yet the dodgy mechanic means most of the time they'll just stumble forward, then turn round and shoot you. Fucking thing. You know what they need? More levels like 'Traditions of the Trade' from Hitman 1 and remastered in Contracts. What an awesome, awesome level. I remember the first time I played that way back when the first Hitman came out. It was jaw dropping

Pob
A New Life for me, with its suburban happy-happy setting. Simple and perfect - I must have replayed that a good thirty times just mucking around. Yep, that's pretty much the perfect Hitman level, along with the epic Traditions Of The Trade. I'd like them to do a level influenced by the Waterloo Station segment in Bourne Ultimatum. That's such as awesome assassin scene. It's fair to assume that blending into crowds will form a part of the next Hitman game, offering 'camouflage' so you don't get spotted unless guards get right up close. I agree about the MGS hand-to-hand combat. The simple take-down move introduced in 3 and re-used in 4 (press towards an enemy and hold a button down, no matter which way they are facing) is one of the most satisfying moves ever. If the new Hitman game is influenced by MGS for hand-to-hand stuff, and the best of the new crop of third-person shooters for when the shit hits the fan, it'll be the best game ever. Strawp
WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! You're all fapping away already about a game we know nothing about and inventing features that will probably never be in the game and then it comes out you'll never be satisfied because all the shit which we kidded ourselves through a series of self-generated rumours was going to be in there didn't materialise. You do this for all the good games! Take a step back!

b00dles
I want to be able to load the level into the HDD so that the restarts are far more immediate, I found the reloads just a little bit too long to really encourage experimentation. I also had no idea how many different ways there were of doing levels until I started reading faqs and even they weren't all the same.... I think I actually sold it after I finished it though and now I really want to play it again. Stimpy, you eediot!

Hitman 5 for the 360 will be purchased on day one and promptly installed to the HDD and stay there as far as I'm concerned Which reminds me, I should really play Blood Money again and see if the load times do indeed improve by installing the game to the HDD. Agreed, I think I said the same way back when in the Blood Money thread. The restrictive and linear training level is a complete misrepresentation of the rest of the game, and made for a really poor demo of an otherwise brilliant game. Another vote for A New Life as the bestest and loveliest level in Blood Money btw, I must've replayed that level more than a hundred times in more than a dozen different ways over the years
