Down by Law
Kane and Lynch 1 was one of my biggest gaming dissapointments ever. Coming from Blood Money I was convinced IO could do no wrong. Proper 'real' characters. Michael Mann vibe. Loud, authentic weaponry. Squad system from Freedom Fighters. Those brilliant pre-release character renders of them doing horrible shit to normal people. Then I played it. You know that twisting stomach feeling when you play a game you've looked forward to all year and it turns out to be crap? Looks like Absolution will offer the same thrills. Even at the inevitable £17.99 pre xmas price point, I'm out. I don't think losing IO is a big deal anyway. 2 great games- Freedom Fighters and Blood Money and 6 years worth of absolute* crap. *thank you, i'm here all week. No really I am , I love it here. Talk Show Host
This mode is only theoretically possible from our end, as the level designers are not good enough players to be able to finish their own levels in Purist for the Silent Assassin rank What on earth does that mean in Videogames? Mr. Gerbik
He thinks the old Hitman games are all about being super-hard, while they're all about exploration, observation, experimentation and freedom. He has said something similar before and it painfully he shows that he doesn't have single fucking clue what made the previous games great. And since he's still spouting that bullshit, apparently there's nobody left at IO to correct him.

Captain Kelsten
The Hitman games aren't hard at all. Getting a silent assassin rating takes skill, patience and an understanding of the game's mechanics, but it isn't hard. Demon's Souls is hard. XCom is hard. Hitman isn't.
SonOfSoAngry
I think the key thing there is 'patience'. I doubt the lead developer even understands the meaning of the word.
Mr. Gerbik
Yeah and that bozo is all like "we'll take away all the feedback and signposting we designed the entire game and each level around, which makes it practically impossible to finish them - but that is how I think the old Hitman games were and that is what those crazy fans apparently want"
DocG
It means it's so hard that people who have done nothing but play the game for 40 hours per week for months on end can't do it. I therefore expect a True Achievments video guide within a week.
tnman
This card was in the box, wtf Was literally just about to come here to post that. The Sleeping Dogs DLC was a nice touch, though, even thought it's of no use to me as I don't have that. Going out to do some Christmas shopping/inspiration hunting now but will start this when I come back.
deerokus
It take it and some of their other comments to mean that they've put a mode in that hasn't been playtested or balanced properly - so effectively doesn't work - as a half-hearted sop to unhappy fans. They madly seem to think that these fans expect and want Hitman to be a punishing maso-core game . Cynical and baffling.

It's possible he's been reading hitmanforum.com, where they all complain about Blood Money being too easy compared to the earlier games. So in his mind, he's made a game that will appeal to the mass market on normal difficulty, and to the Hitman superfans in 'purist' mode. Us lot, who just want meticulously-designed levels that let us use our intelligence without being frustrating, don't get anything.
deerokus
And now I've just realised how amazing a 2D sidecrolling maso-core Hitman game could be.
Cthulhu Steev
This card was in the box, wtf 'Rustlers' are the pants you have to wear on new game+++, and you have to use them to through the whole game while moving really slowly to get the 'Silent Assassin' achievement.

Keyboard Koala
From what I've seen so far, I wasn't expecting more than 5, tbh. Mind you, Blood Money was a solid 9, iirc.
robdood
Yet Bloody Money also 'only' got a 7 in Edge. I'm quietly looking forward to it.
Popular Post Uzi
Hi everyone. I am a mod at Rllmuk. This thread is now being watched. If anyone, and I mean anyone, posts in it to say something like the "game is great!" or "stop pining for BM", your post will be deleted upon report. If you have not played Blood Money for a significant amount of time, your post will be reported and deleted. This is a thread with the sole purpose of ridiculing a new splinter cell game with a bald man. If you wish to discuss any positives from this game, feel free to start a thread called "Splinter Cell with Bald Guy". You may post what you like in that thread as long as the term Hitman is never used. If the game journalism industry cannot be trusted to report on the travesty that this is correctly, then we will need to take drastic action. Never before has a thread in discussion been made for the sole purpose or ridiculing a game with mod enforcement. History has been made today. EDIT- Dood's post above will be deleted in 24 hours. I'm leaving it up as a warning.

SMD
The thing is, it might actually sell well (particularly in the States) with all the QTE and cover and shooting and stuff. So...this might sting a bit.
Popular Post Majora
The disguise system is fucking rubbish now. In the tutorial you have a greenhouse full of guards and gardeners. There are disguises for both outside the greenhouse, and a gardener and a guard both block the entrance. If you wear the gardener disguise all of the gardeners become suspicious. If you wear the guard uniform, all the guards become suspicious. So if you wear the guard uniform you need to sneak around amongst the gardeners, and vice versa. Anyone who enjoyed Blood Money should immediately understand why this is shit. Why is crouch walking and taking cover amongst gardeners to avoid the guards not seen as suspicious by the gardeners? Why do the guards not get suspicious seeing you pop in and out of cover all the time, but get suspicious within 5 seconds of seeing you walking around dressed like them 30 feet away? Why have IO decided you to rob the players of the pleasure of being able to freely walk around in certain areas once you have a certain disguise. That was the whole point of Blood Money! Now you get a disguise which basically buys you 5 seconds in front of people who also have that uniform, so you end up crouching and sliding in and out of cover anyway which just spectacularly misses the point. This alone has fundamentally changed what the game is about. I'm playing on hard do you might get more grace time in a uniform on normal, and more blending in time when using instinct. But still. And that's another thing. You get instinct by killing. Instinct lets you blend in. So they're actually encouraging you to kill as many guards as possible. Ugh. Such spectacular point missing.
