Going through some old EPs again....i've got a few Peacefrogs. All the bloody EP's are in the wrong colour sleeves

(And yeah, i sold my copy of Daniel Bells - Losing control (remixes) - still got the original though...the bass monster that it is).

How to do funk...Slater style...

And to make things better they put out Detroit tinged Electronica too, although i did feature this on a mix eons ago.

Probably my favorite label after Warp and UR for actual number of tracks that were lovely.

Can anyone tell me the track at 35m 10s into this mix?

I think its that "? - terra furma track (on ground records) which IIRC were affiliated with Jamie Bisseire of Bandulu and Space DJ's but theres no track of that name.

I know its not the Steve Bicknell track (thats the weird loop it mixes into).

It actually sounds like a Jeff Mills loop. Superb loop though - it mixes with Kat Moda.

That does sound great. - nice find ABB.

Not enough +1's for that and moreso as it escaped me. Love the transition from hard to strings.

Interestingly UR (or red planet) did do a Belgian Resistance release. Specifcally.

I think i have it somewhere.

...

EDIT

here it is...from their World Power Aliiance days...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7ey6V8meEQ&playnext=1&list=PLF2DAB110C3EFBC7E

Sadly it features no such strings of beauty, (and the harsh old skool mid range Casio synths favoured by Derrick May and later Boo Williams if my ears are right).

Surgeon's new album is absolutely fantastic - I've only just got round to listening properly and it's really, mindblowingly good. Some of it reminds me of the crunchier moments from LFO's "Advance". For example:

Its a pretty mental LP. It makes industrial techno very interesting and makes Electro very hard.

Love to know the sample he uses in Not Two - Right at the very start. Sounds like some mental arcade or track.

Surprised you've not heard that compo. Also featured Carl Craigs "At Les" (which was remixed recently).

One other darker gem was Redcell's - Version.

Its more in your face and very moody but another one of those tracks that just fits in when your out walking at night.

Really nice 18 minute documentary from Resident Advisor.

Real Scenes: Detroit

RA continues its new video series with a trip to the birthplace of techno.

Real Scenes is a series of films, supported by and conceived with Bench, in which we explore the musical, cultural and creative climate within electronic music's key destinations. We'll look at the role singular figureheads—producers, DJs, promoters—play in making their city's music scene a point of world-wide interest. We'll also look at places, spaces and inspirations, seeking out the essence of what gives these hyper-local scenes a truly global resonance.

You can't talk about electronic music without mentioning Detroit. The city's DJs and producers birthed the genre we now call techno. Detroit, however, has always had a creative streak, due in large part to the boom and subsequent bust of the auto industry. Quite simply, Detroit is a city of extremes, and its music reflects that. Detroit's importance in the global electronic music scenes is often referred to in the past tense. With the recent emergence of Kyle Hall and other young Detroit producers, however, it's clear that a spark remains. When we visited, we found a number of artists with their eyes (and ears) firmly set towards the future. After our time there, it's clear that Detroit will endure and innovate for years to come.
