But it's on-rails? :)

EDIT: ONE screen just for you Scottie me dear!

ACE! The XIII style looks just right for this. Allows for all kinds of crazy over the top that you can't get away with when going for realism.

I just hope it's not on rails... I really do.

No reason to suspect that. Red Steel was good... Why would this be bad?

LOL. The gameplay was terrible, guns felt weak, sword fights were laughable, level design was horrid, plot and voice acting at Daikatana levels, it was buggy as fuck, and scripted sequences (like the car wash) were repetitive and uninspired, also some areas don't have music so it just stops and you play areas in dead silence. It did nothing new, and failed at the old stuff it cribbed.

It controlled alright, but a turd that handles well is still a turd.

I respectfully disagree - it was no Halo 3, but I really enjoyed it... some levels were very well put together. Anyway, this is about Red Steel 2 and at least we know that the graphical direction is a good one.

I got some minor amusement out of the first one, but that game was sooo 40% there, and fucking ugly to boot. This looks like a pretty nice direction.

Looking forward to hearing more about the actual gameplay. Also, hope there's some blood this time as katana games without stylised crimson geysers = fail imo. :)

Some more info.

- some aspect of leveling up your character

- gun and sword combos

- “RS2 is tightly focused on intensely physical first person sword fighting, with gunplay a secondary option”

- hold Z to lock onto enemy

- hold down C and swing to block, vertical and horizontal blocks

- switch lock-on at any time

- screen prompts you if you’re being attacked from behind. Press A to quick-turn in this situation

- many enemies wear bulletproof armor

- not open world

- not a linear game, multiple paths to take

- several hub-worlds

- side quests

- collectibles

- return to old areas with new powers and abilities

-”non-combat use of MotionPlus wont be limited to opening doors”

- boss fights

- production began last summer

- Ubisoft discussing the lack of multiplayer: “We would love to create a multiplayer engine, but not right now. It’s single player because we want to really focus on the core mechanic and as much as we all want to kill each other with swords, it’s not going to happen this time.

- Ubisoft on releasing a multiplayer mode through DLC: “That would be cool. The world has changed, and we can do that sort of thing. I certainly think that would be cool. I’d buy it. But we need to be careful bringing out something that people think should be in the main game.”

other than a revolver in one of the shots - looks very japanese to me. I think it's looks like a great mix of styles, futuristic, Japanese ninja cowboys with samurai swords... made by French people.

CRAZY
