Magic lord, you can get an invalid lap from;

Putting a wheel in the dirt.

Hitting things; cars, barriers, cones etc

Drafting or being drafted.

Damaging your car, grinding gears for instance.

I`ve aso had a penalty for bottoming out on a jump but that seems random. It`s very strict this time but at least it stops the cheaters. It also makes time trialing the big tracks very tense with no margin for error. Clean lap of Rally De Positano anyone?

There also seems to be a bug with this. Doing the Boozy TT around Maple Vally I stick in a clean lap, it shows as a clean lap, but uploads to the leaderboard as a dirty lap. The ONLY thing I think it can be was midway through the previous lap I fucked up stuck the car into a wall, so used rewind used the rest of the lap (over half) to get a groove then nailed the quick lap. I think maybe it still registered the rewind from the previous lap or something.

Yep the last sector of the previous lap must be clean (as it should be, otherwise potentially you could get cross the start/finish line at an unfair speed)

Problem is, it was. As I said it was half way through the previous lap that I had my thing so not in the last sector. The lap even showed as clean.

Do the AI cars ever crash? Been playing in single player all weekend and not seen a single accident.

yes. i've not seen anything major unless it was something i deliberately initiated though.

those new chicanes on the New York tracks really come in handy! :coffee:

Wasn't really feeling the love for this a few days ago... starting to now tho. Handling model is exceptional.

Still think they could have done more with the environments tho. Really gripes me that even simple stuff like tyre walls that come apart when you hit them aren't in. NFS Shift really has highlighted how little things like this can add to the overall experience.

I know Forza is all about realistic racing... but surely that extends to the environments too?

Drafting or being drafted.

I don't get this one, how does being drafted give a potential advantage to my time?

And a more generic, car-ry question - I was struggling to find an R3 I could control without TCS yesterday when I needed one (finally got the Flying Lizard Porsche which I :coffee: ), the F430 in particular was a total bastard and I couldn't even get around the first corner of Sebring. What is the thinking behind having TCS off making you go faster? Not just in Forza, but generally.

it cuts too much power maintaining grip. a delicate touch on the throttle can keep the wheels just on the threshold of spinning up and make you far quicker. also TCS removes the ability to spin up the wheels and perform certain emergency manoeuvres.

put simply, it's only really there to keep underskilled drivers from dying on the road.

I was discussing the graphics with Devil-Goh yesterday, some courses pop your eyes whilst others such as Laguna Seca look pretty wack.I loved the choice of racing at different times of the day in Shift.

Agreed. Forza would be the 'complete' racing experience if they'd achieved some of the stuff Shift does.

Still nice title to have alongside Shift!

Def Ridge Racer feel to the palm tree courses (crap remembering names!)... although kinda expected it to look nicer?! :coffee:

Did anybody preorder this from TheHut and then cancel? I did but have just received an email with: "Following dispatch of your order we enclose your code for the exclusive Audi R8". When i log in to my account the order says 'canceled' and my debit card doesn't seem to have been charged...
