I don't get this one, how does being drafted give a potential advantage to my time?

The car in front gets a small aerodynamic boost too (if it's modelled in Forza 3, no racing sim I'm aware of has modelled aerodynamics in a complex way, it's too much work when a simple model is sufficient).

There's also bump-drafting where the car behind bumps into the leading car in order to speed both cars up (a mate who used to race Alfa touring cars would do this with the other driver on his team).

Amalfi coast (sp?), so lovely, blue skies all round.

What's that, a Ferrari California? I love this game, and I'm far from a racing fan.

Word to the wise though, do NOT try and jack up a trans am to A-class, it's like trying to stear a rocket on a skateboard.

No, don't be silly. Bob said the AI cars "don't crash", when they clearly do. I don't mind someone saying it's not their kettle of fish, each to their own, but he's simply spouting rubbish at every opportunity. And by the looks of it I'm not the only one thinking that.

And yeah, New York is poor. The one in the original game had some diversion by going into some side streets. I guess the chicanes make it a little more interesting.

AI cars most certainly crash into each other, spin off corners and once I saw one just idle on the side of one of the speedway tracks.

Could someone please explain what drafting is. Also, I swear sometimes my wheels go off the track slightly and I dont get a foul lap.

I think NY is improved by having the chicanes in it personally.

Anyone want a Krautrock themed car should visit my storefront - got neu! and the kraftwerk road cone in green up so far.

The original as in Forza 1?

F2 never had that. GT had that though (3 or 4 - i forget) but Forza 2 was the same as Forza 3. F3 adds chicanes.

BTW Cosmic Guru....Drafting is where you gain speed following directly behind another car.

The wind resistance stopping the car in front goes over your head as such, so you gain speed. Really only applies on long straights and ovals but it an important technique.

Another important technique is where certain experienced racers use parts of the track not actually meant for racing on for greater gain.

It's basically another word for 'slipstream'.

I reckon the chicanes in NY sound like a good idea.

Means no you have to win more through outbraking your opponent rather than just by virtue of having a beefier engine.

Which is a shame, actually, as that's how I usually won.

Its okay....similar idea to new Le mans though. Would have preferred they gave us a new New York track although its a pretty dull city to model really anyway.

it cuts too much power maintaining grip. a delicate touch on the throttle can keep the wheels just on the threshold of spinning up and make you far quicker. also TCS removes the ability to spin up the wheels and perform certain emergency manoeuvres.

put simply, it's only really there to keep underskilled drivers from dying on the road.

I've totally changed my opinion on the New York chicanes now - at first I was displeased they'd found a way to make what was already a boring track hard too, but I had a couple of good races there last night. Made me press Back a few times which I swore I would never do prior to actually playing this as well.

Did anybody preorder this from TheHut and then cancel? I did but have just received an email with: "Following dispatch of your order we enclose your code for the exclusive Audi R8". When i log in to my account the order says 'canceled' and my debit card doesn't seem to have been charged...

Yeah, I got the same email from Zavvi, despite having cancelled ages ago.

Haven't tried the code yet though.
