How well does it work to just keep it on your lap?

The FFB in FM3 is not too strong, so it may work well placing it on your lap. Wel even de stekker erin hè!

Don't place it on your lap for Dirt 2 (for example), because its FFB is so strong it rips arms out of their sockets.*

*May not be true.

If my wheel would ever die on me, I would buy a new one immediately. Even if I would have to sell my body in order to get the money for it. No way in hell I'm going back to a controller

So you'll be buying a cheap ass Logitech wheel next time then eh?

I bought a wheel stand pro :eyebrows: They're pricey at £95 but I just closed my eyes and clicked "order". I just hope they're as good as I've heard. Anyone else got one and care to make me feel better about such an extravagance?

:)

I did exactly the same. Mine turned up on Monday and I'm really happy with it so far. It's very solid and can be set up\taken down with the flick of a single lever. Much better than having to drag the dining table through to the lounge whenever I wanted to play.

First Ive heard about the WSP and Im really interested. If I was going to spend 45 on a laptop table, Id probably be willing to spend 100 on a dedicated solution instead. Especially as the wheel itself is being bought for me as a present :D

Anyone else going into a room by themselves every time they try Matchmaking in anything less than R3 cars?

My NAT's absolutely fine.

Yep, same here. Never managed to find other players yet. NAT appears to be fine, other games are fine. Forza's crap though - storefront doesn't even work for me :-(

Very disappointing as I only got Gold for Forza in the first place :-(

I was just doing the F Class Fujimi Kaido tracks and decided to try the stock Fiesta - the quick addition of a race diff (set to 40% acceleration, 0% deceleration) and I've got just the most awesome little car, able to thrash the competition.

Lift off and the car will understeer, but power through and the diff hooks up and fires you out of the bends. It's fawkin' superb.

Using 'No ABS' and the left-foot braking technique I've also had some MASSIVE slides - it's just awesome.

Overall, I rate Forza 3 a P, for heavily Pornographic in quality.

---

Oh, for those of you having trouble getting used to 'No ABS', buy race brakes and adjust them to 90% braking pressure - it makes life a lot easier.

I've been using manual gears for a few races here and there recently. I did try them in the demo but went back to automatic when I started playing the game. They've not been too bad and I think I know roughly when to shift up or down but I'm probably not using them effectively.

The game hasn't been that challenging most of the time on medium difficulty so I've tried moving up to hard and I'm not doing too badly. I certainly noticed the difference and at least I'm not in the lead by up to 20 seconds.

Anyone picked up any particularly good cars?

Grabbed the Class A Ford RS200 last night - it is INSANE! Ultra-light and 4WD, with 500hp mated to a close-ratio gearbox, means iiincredible launching-speed and acceleration. It also handles surprisingly well - it turns-in well but is very stable... You get some amazing 4WD drifts if you lift off the accelerator, but plant the accelerator and it always seems to find grip and just launches itself forward again. Only issue is hitting the limiter on long straights, cured with a race gearbox. Brilliant stuff.

I wonder what the steering wheel uptake has been like since runup and release to this game? I bought one but yet to use it due to redecorating the house. I'm considering getting a wheel stand pro but my geeky and the sensible part of me are at battle over the ££ of the wsp. Not to mention my fiance doing a  and :omg: when she sees it.

Best advice ever.

I actually do revel in it....or used but I think I've gone a bit soft core and a part of me dies inside when there is a look of shame on her face. Its not as bad as I make out otherwise she so would not be my fiance if she had a problem with my gaming. As part of recdecoration I've laid out plans for a games room which she thinks she can talk me out of. sorry for going off topics

My missus knows I love this stuff and doesn't fight me over it. She thinks I am a bit sad but she knows it makes me happy. We decided that I shouldn't lock myself away in another room, that way we can still talk when I play

She also likes using the wheel herself.

By the way, I am coming to resent these Fifa nights now, all I could think of while playing was what I did wrong and what I did right in the F355 race around Suzuka and how I can't wait till the next races. Didn't help Scratch was playing with me who is another racer. Can't wait till he weekend to get some more laps in.
