What?!

They seriously don't expect Kinect to replace it, do they?

I don't think so. I think Microsoft are now relying on third parties for wheel peripherals what with this TVR effort and the forthcoming Mad Catz wheel.

You never know, we may yet see a Logitech wheel for the 360. Which would make a lot of people happy.

I've just spent the last few hours in the new 'Production' hopper in the public lobbies and it was very good indeed. The best non-rllmuk racing I've had with the game.

It's stock upgrades and tuning with everyone in the same car. The hopper cycles through a preset list of cars and tracks, and there are some really great choices in there. My faves so far were probably the Ferrari Dino at Catalunya National and Mini Coopers at Silverstone National. Naturally, they have chosen 355s at Maple Valley... there are plenty of other interesting choices of tracks and cars. They seem to have given some of the less 'popular' tracks an airing.

I've always found the public lobbies fairly dispiriting, usually being left behind in a sub-standard tune, or being rammed at the first corner. This lobby seems quite different. It's a level playing field and it's all about the driving not the tune. It's mainly Forza die-hards now (i.e. fewer twats), and the racing was reasonably clean. Of course there are always a few exceptions.

Cool, sounds good. Will try and give it a go tonight.

I'm not too hot at tuning so last time I played I got smoked by a fleet of fettled Audi S5's, but in equal machines I think I should be ok to hold my own.

I have started getting into this again since discovering the trick for forcing lower class races in between the world championships. Finally finished season 6 now and bagged some lovely points :)

But I need help - I can't do the drift challenges for shit. I want the 100,000 points achievement, but god I'm struggling. It seems most of the tuning setups I have downloaded make the cars behave, well, not much like cars at all. Has anyone done it with a lower powered car that you have more control over? Cheers

What trick is this?

Recently got back into the game myself but finding some of the races a bit of a slog.

I did it in a fairly low end car on that Japanese hill circuit (Fujimi Kaido? The full version of that), certainly no higher than B or C class. Just took it slow and popped out the back end of whatever it was round pretty much every corner.

In between the world championships when you get the option of 3 series to race, choose y to change your car before clicking on anything. Whatever car class you choose from your car list, the middle option will change to a series that incorporates that class.

Found this a godsend as I got sick of it throwing up R series races, which I can't abide. I'm guessing after season 7 the world championships are all the pissing R races. Can't stand the super fast cars in this game. Much prefer A and below.

edit: cheers Stefcha. I was sick of looking online and finding most people were using ludicrously over powered cars and assumed you couldn't do it in the lower ones. I hate drifting :(

At the risk of pointing out the obvious, using the reverse time feature does not disqualify you from this.

this sounds really good, hope they will also do something like this with R class racing cars !

Last week I mentioned a couple of important changes to the online racing in FM3: new production hoppers and a circuit refresh. Today I’ve some additional details for you. The Cycled Production Car hopper offers 30 car and track combos that will allow the community to race where on-track skill (and not tuning talent) is at a premium. With an average race time of eight to ten minutes these races are mid-length and sure to be a challenge. In fact, without skipping tracks, it would take more than five hours to get through all the car and track combinations in one sitting.

A few examples of some of the car and track combinations:

10 laps on Maple Valley Short Reverse in a 2009 Volvo C30-R E268

7 Laps on Road Atlanta Full in a 2006 Ford GT A557

5 Laps on Motegi Full in a 2009 Lotus Evora C423

Each month the Cycled Production Car hopper will be refreshed with a new set of 30 car and track combinations. If this hopper proves to be popular, it’s possible that we might make a second Production Car hopper featuring the most popular combinations from previous month, so be sure and let us know which car/track combos you like.

How exactly does this 'production cars mode' work? Wasn't it already possible to restrict other players (when you're hosting) to a certain car and without tuning set-ups?

sure, if you want a private race with only people you can invite.. they completely dropped the customisable public lobbies from forza 2, and made it private if you choose to create one. it's still not perfect but a whole lot better than audi's dominating every race

I recently picked up a copy of this and was looking at purchasing some of the DLC. Theres seems to be so much DLC and if I bought everything I wanted it would cost a small fortune in points.

However a mate of mine says i just missed out on getting it all half price as the DLC was Deal of the Week a little while back....Do you think there is any chance something similar will happen again or there will be a price reduction on the DLC anytime soon?

** HELP **

My Xbox has just suffered from a severe and terminal bout of RRoD, so I'm probably going to end up buying a new 250GB replacement for it tomorrow.

My question is, can I put my 20GB hard disk on my brother's Xbox, copy my Forza save to a memory stick and then over to the new style Xbox?

Thanks.

Very unlikely i'd reckon. Theres so much stuff on XBLA to discount sadly. If they had any sense they'd do it during the F1 2010 release date, but its still unlikely.

: At fugitive - You might be better getting a transfer kit and swapping directly, I think that Forza3 suffers the same "not swappable via memory stick" problems that Mass Effect was reported to have. It would also save you having to re download anything.

Not 100% on that but I'm sure I saw it mentioned somewhere when the memory stick update came out.

Transfer kits are about £15.
