Left 4 Dead 2

Has anybody managed to 'dead stop' a hunter on l4d2? I've tried a few times but the hunter seems to clip on to you when it's about halfway through the jump, rather than when it would actually hit you.

You mean melee it mid-jump? I have but I definitely had problems with the timing at first.

apparently its likely to be a price fail. So it might not get honoured. Also its a bit cheeky to put this on sale only a week or so after release, for cheaper than the 4 pack pre-order.

I just ordered it. It's gone from the main site, but if you search for the PC version there's and 'other formats' link to the 360 version that still works.

I didn't really want to buy this - I'm sure I'll be rubbish - but for £15 I had to take a punt!

Right, you know all that stuff that valve went on about the director being able to change the map layouts and no two playthroughs ever being the same and blah blah blah. Where exactly does this happen? Because apart from maaaaaybe the cemetary bit in parish I really can't think of anywhere that this is the case, really. But that's probably because i don't know the maps well enough yet.

I noticed it in stage 1 of The Parish in the demo - the area around the bar changes. Not noticed it in other campaigns though.

And yes, Valve's playtesters appear to be braindead. The commentary for every single one of their games goes on about how the playtesters found things really confusing and they had to be changed/removed, when it sounds like the simplest stuff in the world.

Sometimes for the Dead Center mall crescendo you have to go through a basement door rather than the windows. It is much, much harder.

The gauntlets change up every time you do them. It's normally quite subtle but you'll take a different path, either much longer or shorter, depending on how well you're doing. Also, the rain in hard rain gets heavier the better you're doing too. It also changes which cars are alarmed and which aren't. It's more subtle things than big detours around the level.

It's the same as Crowning the witch. Once you get the timing down, you can do it every time so long as you have warning of his approach! Just keep plugging away and you'll get it eventually.

Edit - Sorry for DP folks

Yes and I think the timing's different to L4D 1. I haven't got it sussed just yet.

In L4D 1, the hunter's hitbox was around half a second ahead of the visible model so you need to melee before you think you have to. Spamming melee in L4D 2 is not very helpful, even if it was early on in L4D 1. I think the hitbox is even further ahead of the model now, but I'm not sure.

Of course, sir! Didn't mean to leave you out, you were very helpful to me at some points, even if I did shoot you in the back occasionally.*

*And accidentally. I'm just not that good a shot. :)

I was pretty much shooting everyone with that grenade launcher, so that was fair enough.
