Played a bit of solo today to get my bearings.

Really enjoyed it, did the first 4 campaigns but i've definitely become rusty!

i've been getting a lot of joy from the deagle taking almost an entire campaign with grenade launcher primary and deagle secondary!

Yep, I should be about tonight. Drop me an invite!

EDIT: And I should be about during the day as well, Pistol, if you need some backup. Or at the very least, someone to draw fire...

Bloomin' heck, the finales are punishing

Just spent all afternoon trying to finish Swamp Fever act 4. Could not do it for love nor money. Finally got paired up with a sound Yorkshire geezer, and eventually worked out a strategy that seemed viable (holding the top of the stairs, and playing here-we-go-round-the-mulberry-bush with the tanks round the bannisters). I even managed to finish off both simultaneous tanks whilst my pal was downed and the other anonymous folks were dead. Revived the Yorkshire lad, then decided it wasn't fair to run for the boat without at least trying to revive one of the others (who whilst not talkative, had at least been useful). So I staggered downstairs, grabbed the defibrillator, and revived him... only to be swamped by a horde and incapped :D I had to watch while the boat sailed off with only one survivor aboard. Ah well, I did my best.

Has it put me off? Well, did any of my twenty or so past failures? :D

Just too bloody good, this game is

You know what you're missing from your strategy, right? BOOM. The jockey bait. *points at self*

Played it until 5 in the morning on a LAN with some friends the other day, some good shit. We played a bit of versus on the internet as well, and were pretty crap, so we didn't get through all of the campaigns (just the first 3), have to do it again some time :(

It was the first time i'd played versus- jockeys are fantastic for nabbing a stray survivor and dragging them round a corner, aren't they? The issue with smokers has always been that you don't do much damage and you're completely vulnerable once you've committed, jockeys are a nice alternative. 4 LAN players vs noncommunicative survivors makes for massive griefing possibilities

Can people without headsets hear what you're saying over the mic? I assumed they could, they just couldn't respond, but the evidence suggests that they can't. Either that, or they are all morons who don't listen to advice/instructions.

(Of course, I could find out for myself by playing without a mic for a bit. But that would be rubbish.)

Yeah they're just morons sadly. I don't even have a headset I just use a separate mic and it works pretty well.

Not sure if you are on the 360 or not though, might be that the voice volume is muffled when mixed with the game sounds or whatever though the same applies, it should put the voice through the speakers instead of the headset if it isn't connected.

I have been pulled between this and Killing Floor, they both make nice alternatives when you get a bit fed up, you can just switch em around.

Versus is fooking hard as nails though, I don't think I've actually managed to make it through a campaign with the survivors without getting annihilated by jockeys and chargers. Surprisingly though despite the more lethal special infected, it doesn't seem quite as unforgiving as L4D was.

I finally survived the Swamp Fever finale last night :D

However, I didn't get the achievement for it :(. I'm sure you don't have to play through the whole campaign in the same sitting to get it, as a guy I was playing with the other night got it, and he only joined the game in act 4.

Oh well, I'll just have to do it again :)

I think you do have to do the whole campain in one sitting. I was playing with a friend and first time I manage to get into the heli and he didn't, I got the achievement then tried restarting straight at the final act where we both escaped and he didn't get the achievement.
