How can just shakeing a wii mote be better than something that is learning you to dance and tracks your full body?. Ive seen alot of kinect hate and im one of them but to say just dance is better than dace central is bordering on nutty.

So they're exactly the same game only with a different control method?

It depends on what you're after from a game, surely? It's like saying Forza is inarguably better than Burnout, just because it's more technically involved.

Nobody I know apart from real 360 fanboys is remotely interested and the price is just fucking daft.

Without rattling of some tangential path, I'm a total 360 shill - and I'll sacrifice good, decent karma to reduce the potential marketshare of Kinect.

I don't think Dance Central teaches you how to dance anymore than Singstar teaches people how to sing.

And i remember the utter pounding I got on this place when I dared to suggest that it wouldn't head track or track your eyeball movements in an FPS

Not from me Scott, I've said Kinect was utter bollocks right from the start. But take note that gimmicky motion controls might unexpectedly sell extremely well even though we all think they're shit ;)

“Yeah Nan, I know I said it would be better than Wii Bowling and Eastenders is starting in a minute. But if you could change out of that Christmas jumper while I move all the furniture out of the room and whitewash the walls, that would be grand. Don’t leave it on the floor, though…”

So you've played and seen them both?

The two player duel dancing on Just Dance 2 was immense. At Eurogamer - although Dance Central often had several people on the stage dancing - it was only tracking one of them.

Dance Central had the player striking a pose at the right time by following an on screen avatar to score - exactly like Just Dance 2.

All I'm seeing in your post is a large dose of Wii snobbery. It's a casual game for the Wii - how could it be as good, if not better than an HD game by the mighty Harmonix creators of Guitar Hero and Rock Band? Guess what - it is!

As I've already quite frankly said - if Dance Central is the best Kinect has to offer at launch then it simply isn't worth the minimum £150 plus layout to play it.

I certainly had no desire to pick up Kinect at launch before I used one - but always thought I'd get one at half the price later. I doubt I'll bother with even that now.

I've played both just dance 2 and dance central, and can easily say dance central was the better game, I played dance central several times with 2 other people and we were all tracked in the bottom right of the screen. Don't get me wrong, just dance 2 is good fun, but dance central takes it to the next level, the freestyle in dance central is particulary hilarious.

It shows the outline of the other players in that little window but only one person was actually being tracked and generating a score. The fact that you didn't notice says a lot about how much it matters whether how much or little the game is actually tracking you and how much of the fun is just from following a dance routine being shown on screen.

I have to say being a massive DDR fan at the time, but not really enjoying Just Dance personally I'm definitely looking forward to Dance Central and was the one reason I pre-ordered a Kinect (later cancelled because of the feedback in this thread).

How does the freestyle mode work? I'd always assumed it was like freestyle in Singstar that has no effect on the actual game.

I heard Dance Central tracks your face to make sure you're smiling and also checks your eyeballs to make sure your gaze doesn't wander. The power of kinect. The future of humanity.

Why is it that you sounds exactly like Nap or Meh criticizing the Wii whenever you enter a Kinect thread? It's also very telling that you and ramone are the top two posters in this thread, with ramone having even two times as many posts as you. ;)

I'm right though aren't I?

Ok so this is news to me and somewhat frustrating:

  1. You 'have' to plug the Kinect into the back of your 360
  2. You have to unplug your WiFi adapter to do this and use an extender to plug it into one of the front ports on your 360
  3. You now only have 1 free USB port so no mates coming round with their profiles to play with you :(

Obviously this is only for the original 360 and not the new slime (still not like it is only 20 million units or whatever).

My question is WHY can you not use a usb passthrough/hub on the back slot of your 360? The Kinect USB cable could have had a passthrough port for the WiFi adapter and boom job done. It is going to look really FUGLY having a long cable from the back of your 360 to the front for the WiFi adapter.

I had a good lol at the gamestation monkey on the weekend. I wanted to take a look at the PS3 move contoller setup they had in there but the monkey couldnt get it to calibrate (dead battery). He then proceeded to launch into a Kinect promotion saying the Wii and Move where gimmicky and for casual gamers and that the kinect was the future.

I told him straight that it looked no more impressive than a 6 year old PS2 eye toy game and watched the wind flow out of his sails

Shave?

Serious question. I don't know anything about Just Dance 2 and wondered how it could be better than Dance Central if it only tracks the arm movements

How you're being tracked isn't what is fun about the games. It's the dancing. The duel and duet modes on JD2 are twice the fun as they're what best can be described as dance co-op.

It's interesting how on one hand the lack of precision of Kinect is being downplayed as not mattering as it is so much damn FUN anyway (e.g. those Child of Eden previews) except in this one case of Dance Central where it actually does seem to be more precise, in which case it's all about how the total body tracking accuracy makes it so much better than Just Dance.
