Bcass... You're not doing yourself and favours in this thread. Laughing at anyone who thinks this is comparable to SMW.

See, I first played SMW on VC. yes, I do think this is as good if perhaps even better. Yoshi's Island I played in GBA and I have the same thoughts. I suppose I'm simply not qualified to make a judgement though because I didn't play them o. The snes and am therefore not real hardcore enough for you.

And another thing... There are kids playing this today and for them, this game will be their SWM.

This post is so stuffed with the most ill-informed lolocaust ever.

How much, exactly, have you seen of SMW?

How far did you get in the diabolical GBA conversion (that had nothing to do with nintendo) of Yoshi's Island?

Is this the best that the rllmuk nintendo-herd has to offer?

Because that would involve making a convincing argument, for a change. emot-smug.gif

You called it sir. We're basically dealing with people who think Yoshi's Island DS is the same as Yoshi's Island SNES. We're not even dealing with nintendo fans. More like some ghastly apparition that crawled out of the Wii anus.

you enjoy trolling a thread that is overall simple positivity?

Good for you.

I'll just get on with enjoying games I like to play while you writhe with hatred under your bridge.

There's no hatred involed whatsoever in highlighting how truly pig-ignorant you are.

Yoshi's Island DS, lol!

I always knew you were a fake scott. Your posts in this thread will forever haunt you.

Actually, fuck it, I'm going to play through all of the Mario 2D platformers and compare them. That's a fair way to do it.

Just World and Island will do.

There is no facepalm big enough.

For the exposure of your complete lack of fundamental nintendo knowledge, indeed there is not.

I played Super Mario World on the SNES as a child and completed it with 96 exits. I also played and completed Yoshi's Island on the SNES.

I played the GBA conversions of both games and completed both, finishing Mario World with all 96 exits. I have also played both games on various emulators. Checking my DS and PSP I can see that I have completed Mario world on both and Yoshi's Island on the PSP.

As a child I didn't have a NES, though I played Mario Land, Mario Land 2 and Wario Land on the GameBoy.

I also had Mario Allstars for the SNES a few years later, and played and completed Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 (no I haven't finished Lost Levels, it's fucking torturous and NO FUN)

I later played and completed Mario Bros Deluxe on GBC and Mario bros 2 and 3 on GBA, followed by NSMB on the DS.

I played and loved all of these games with the exception of the Bros games around the time they came out and they are ingrained into my memories of my childhood.

I love super mario world more than any other platformer ever made and more than all but about 4 games that I've ever played. I can finish it in about an hour if I concentrate and skip as much as possible using star road.

What I was wondering, is if bcass thinks I'm qualified to comment on how good NSMBW is? Oh, I also really, really understand the difference between Yoshi's Island, the average GBA port and that soul-less piece of crap "sequel" for the DS.

If you haven't played the original SNES version of Island you haven't lived. Your soul will be exponentially more significant if you played it when it was first released, although latter appreciation will bring well-being close to exponential.

it's never been a secret that my nintendo appreciation only began with the N64

I never even finished SM64. I've only 94 stars or so in Galaxy.

I'm hopless at the original SMB and played all the 'classics' as ports, although the VC isn't a port.

My favourite mario 2d game is SMB3.

I'm actually quite happy that you find me ignorant.

I played it on release, then again on my PC via emulation, then again on the GBA, then again on the DS via emulation, then again on PSP via emulation. I've only just got a Wii so haven't grabbed the VC version yet.

So? Do I qualify? Can I have an opinion on NSMB Wii?

Just when I thought you could not type any more wrongness into the forum you have managed it with ease. The kids that think this is on par with SMW and YI should be beaten with a cane to exorcise the wrongness out of them.

eh? The GBA version was pretty much a straight port. Your probably thinking of the DS version.

Ive played every mario platformer, completed pretty much everyone (not including wario lands, march of the minis etc). Well i think the only mario game i havent finished is mario sunshine (and yoshi story/yoshi island 2 if your counting those).

I really have enjoyed NSMB on the wii, but i think thats also because i have been playing it 2 players.

It is difficult, but i am surprised at people saying that because people moan nintendo have gone too casual and then they release a somewhat "hardcore" game and people complain.

And what exactly was diabolical about it? No scanlines? Not 60hz? Wrong screen res? I can't take your opinions as valid when you claim one of the best games ever is diabolical beacuse of some slight change. Was it the Touch Fuzzy, Get Dizzy wave which was pretty bad on the DS that ruined the rest of it for you?

You weren't meant to take that post literally.

You post with such hyperbole how do I seperate the wheat from the chaff?

If you'd played through the original SNES version you wouldn't be asking these questions.

What's hyperbole? Endless, insufferable praise of an artistically flailing nintendo, or a thorough appreciation of a once brilliant icon?

'nothing to do with nintendo' ??

Umm, what are you on about? GBA Yoshi was developed by Nintendo's internal R&D2 team, see here:

Just to confirm, if you check out the coders they have worked on other Mario and Zelda titles too.

christ, I can't remember. It's got 55 levels including tutorials and secret levels, I remember there being 2 levels I never completed in full, so I got at least however many stars there are in each level multiplied by 53, or multiplied by 45 if there are no stars in the tutorial levels, I can't remember.

I did play through it on the SNES. That was a genuine question, what are your issues with the GBA port? If the game is so good I'm intrigued as to how it can be "diabolical" and "shit" on the GBA with the same levels etc. There was a long period between me experiencing the 2 games but the only things I noticed where the rainbow effect on the boss transformation and the Fuzzy level mentioned above.

That's hyperbole. If you don't like it fine, just don't tell me what I like.
