New Super Mario Bros. Wii

My 2D Mario CV: I played and completed Super Mario Bros, Lost Levels, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, Wario Land (SMLand 3), Yoshi's Story and New Super Mario Bros DS.

I haven't even BOUGHT New Super Mario Bros Wii, never mind played it.

If you want I can send you a signed photo bcass. No used pants or anything like that though.

I think bcass should be held to his own standards and refrain from commenting until he's completed this game, collected all the star coins and got all those shiny stars on the title screen. :hmm:

and replicated all the feats of AWE in the skill vids.

Yeah, I think if I was struggling to formulate a reasonable argument, I'd resort to using smileys too.

I'm just having a laugh at the sheer stupidity you demonstrated in so few posts. One minute you're criticising someone for name calling because of a difference of opinion, the next minute you're doing it yourself.

As for the game, I'm not sure if I will ever see the end. It just doesn't beckon me. It just isn't that interesting. If it was, I'd be playing it more. It's a bit like most Wii games - there's just something missing (and no, I'm not talking about "magic").

Well done, bcass, you've nearly outcunted your VC thread performance. Turning your pedantry to forumites themselves was indeed a masterstroke.

Boom. There goes this weeks social experiment!

You're really missing out, it's probably better than Super Mario World.

Finished this the other night... the first mario i've finished since Mario World on the SNES.

It's got magic, boatloads of it. Kept me smiling all the way through. :D

Whoever doesn't like this is a right misery guts.

And those 5 secret yoshi-gem-stars, to boot. You know the ones; the really well-hidden secret ones that you have to collect. Get to it, bcass, and we'll see you when you're done.

Not from what I've seen so far.

That was a joke.

Things that are worse than SMW: Graphics, music, world map

Things that are better than SMW: Power ups and power ups usage (although Yoshi feels a bit thrown in)

Things that are on a par with SMW: Level design

I think if I was to play them both now for the first time I'd probably prefer NSMBW.

Not at all. I criticised you because you were having a go at all those who say the game is up there with Super Mario World. I'm not name-calling because of a difference of opinion, I called you a cretin because you were behaving like one. We were actually in agreement earlier in the thread, so for you to say I should 'make up my own mind' about the game proves how idiotic your argument was.

If there's anyone who should be laughing at anyone's stupidity, it's me at yours. But I don't find you particularly amusing.

Yeah, I know, lol.

Whatever you say, mr serious. Still doesn't detract from your prior idiotic posts.

Yoshi's hardly in it. For shame.

(although not YI but I don't really consider that the same sort of game).

in fact - I almost see YI as a different game, less of a pure platformer and more an imaginative adventure type...

I think this is a good point, Yoshi's Island is really nothing like any other Mario games. It's got its own series kind of like Wario Land and it doesn't really fit into discussions about Mario games because it's just too different.

Does anyone have a DD link to that fake 11 min SMB3 video?

It is the culmination of Mario Bros. and World.

No it isn't, its a sedate, slowly paced and more tactical platformer with less emphasis on traditional running and jumping (as is evidenced by yoshi's struggle move which extends the jumps), an aiming and shooting mechanic, a passenger to carry and rescue, no secret exits, a linear structure and a totally different style. Aside from being a platformer and featuring the same characters its got fuck all in common with the mario games which came before or after.

right, i searched the first 4 pages of the forum on my phone to find the super mario galaxy thread but couldnt see it so im just going to post it here instead. I am currently playing it on "good egg galaxy- a snack of cosmic proportions" and this gay little yellow thing told me to feed one of his gay friends some diamonds or some shit, then a path of weird shit i have to click on comes up so i go from the first to the second to the third and it all goes tits up, i have to go through some weird hollow star thing that fucks up the camera view and makes me fall again. Even if i get past it by random clicking i cant do fuck all, so he anyone could tell me what to do it would help as it is winding me the fuck up. Cheers!

Aside from the level design and inventiveness, which is arguably what makes the Mario games so good. And if you're calling it sedate then you didn't get very far into it.

It's what makes them good, but it's not what makes them mario games. I never said it wasn't good, truth me told its better than the mario series in many, many ways. It's just not really a mario game.

I've completed it a million times, its not a more thoughtful, puzzly pace to it and it's toughest challenges rely on thinking and careful use of the environment and abilities, rather than on executing the same moves faster and with less mistakes, which is how mario games make their levels harder.

Kreist, this gets really difficult around world 6. AAAAARGH!!!

First level was also a bit bland but everything else has been pure bliss so far love the pipe level in 6-2 where all the Piranha plants move up and down in the whole level.

And before I forget: World 5-5. :wub::wub::wub:
