Awsoem!!!

Yes, indeed! Awesome!!! Thanks ever so to mercenarri for pulling all this together. The phase 4 beta will be an open beta, and your character will carry over to the full game. We don't know when that'll start yet, but I'll update the post. We are all on Moogle, which is a new EU server. Hope to see you there! And if you ever played XI, yes, you will get killed by a bee / rabbit / crab / tiny plant thing.

The Lodestone / Rllmuk Linkshell Information (Moogle Server)

This is an official FFXIV hub that shows all character information. You can search for players, linkshells, and free companies on all servers here. We've not made our own free company yet (that requires someone at level 25 with 15,000 gil). We've gathered under the linkshell name Albionjr (you can use the list of names in this link to send friend/linkshell requests).

Other Very Useful Spreadsheets

Class/Job Shared Abilities (as of Phase 3, 16th June 2013) - Easiest way to navigate: Select the column for your class, e.g. highlight column H for Pugilists, then scroll down to see which abilities the Pugilist can learn from other classes.

A better version of Class/Job Shared Abilities - Also notice the tabs at the bottom for further info about DoL and DoH classes, as well info about Limit Breaks and Combos.

Gathering Data and Coordinates - I haven't used this yet but I imagine it will useful for those who can't find a certain digging point for a piece of material.

Tier 1 & 2 NPC Crafting Materials - Scroll down a bit for the spreadsheet. It lists the items and which NPC sells them. You can also see how much the NPCs sell materials for, if you want a reference point for prices when selling materials on your retainer (retainers are obtainable around level 20ish as part of the main storyline progression).

Yes, this'd be the Next Gen MMO we've been hearing about for a while. I'm very surprised its coming out the same year as FFXIII, but I'm assuming the 'Only on PS3' really meant 'Not on 360', as I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a PC version.

*see bottom of post for additional info that's surfacing*

Did my OP disappear?? :D

Luckily I C&Ped it when the 'post reply' seemed to freeze.

Here's what was supposed to be post #1:

Okay, so the world is apparently called 'Eorzea', but shit. Seriously, come on. That's a Hume and a Galka and an Elvaan right there. And I can make out midgets and catpeople in the title screen. Vana'diel reborn it seems. :(

Now I know that FFXI wasn't to everyone's tastes. But it must be remembered that it's a seven year old game, the first of its kind for SE (and still the only one of its kind with regards to simultaneous cross-platform play - PC, PS2/3 and 360). SE were brutal back then. They took their notorious love of difficulty and challenge and self-exploration and injected it straight into FFXI. Understandably, many many people were all 'fuck that'.

But for anyone who's still feeling the bruises of early (and current, it being the same engine) FFXI, SE genuinely have learnt a lot during the last seven years, not to mention they've been studying what has proven popular within the genre. It's worth bearing that in mind when you imagine what this brand new MMO might, possibly, just feasibly manage to bring to the table.

Anyway.

2010... wow. I'm still kinda speechless. That came out of nowhere, especially coming from a place where the secret SE MMO title was shrouded in so much mystery. The trailer mentions PS3 as a console launch exclusive only I believe, which opens up extremely likely possibilities for a simultaneous PC release and an Xbox release further down the line. I definitely wouldn't rule it out.

SE have retroactively in FFXI tried to patch up as much of the clunky and painfully punishing gameplay elements of that game over the past few years at the behest of the players and they've stated clearly that they as a company regret the PlayOnline system. I'm genuninely excited to see what SE MMO V2.0 might play like.

Oh man this is going to be so super duper wuper amazing.

And it better have hot sexy cat girls in it.

I agree with you Kloid, FFXI is like a completely different game these days. The new stuff the've done is brilliant. Campaign Battle. :(

Fields of Valour. :D

Totally sold on this, even before hearing proper details.

FFXI is, and always will be, my most treasured gaming experience. It was just so... :(

I ask two things. Take out the archaic stuff like the travel methods and total unsoloable-ness of things, and keep the job system.

Did anyone see a Taru Taru?

Not in the trailer, no. :(

But in the Amano title design, I swear that's a Taru directly above the guy who's front and centre.

My retired Deeke shall, worryingly, probably rise anew to Asura represent.*gulp*

And for once, I actually knew about this before the announcement!

Do I have to buy a PS3 now then?

Nah, just wait for the PC and 360 announcement. :( SE will be bringing it to more than 1 console, without a doubt.

Oh man, the FFXIV rllmuk linkshell is going to be so amazing. :(

Am sure it'll be cross platfrom again. Well, I really hope so. It worked great. None of this region locked server nonsense too please, and an improved auto-translate.

Will have a PS3 soon anyway, but i'd get one for this for sure, especially for the chance to get started first!

It was THE shock announcement of all the 3 E3 conferences for me. FFXIV PS3 exclusive released in the same year they deliver FFXIII!? The heart sank a little when I saw the online subtitle though. Superb quality CGI in place but can't wait to see some actual gameplay.

Oh god oh shit oh fuck.

I lost six months of my life to XI. XIV had better be fucking shit.

PS3 exclusive means "it won't be on the PC" right? RIGHT?

Only 6 months?! Noob!

I'm so loading back up tomorrow, not been on for 3 months, but I could never quit for good.

Albionjr for life!

Yes, you're right it's definitely a Taru. And this is so coming to PC as well. It was the way the Sony guy said ONLY console pretty much confirmed it.

If it loses all the clunk of FFXI then it'll be great.

Guaranteed to be on the PC, 360 not too sure what 'exclusive' means these days - could actually be exclusive or timed.

It was nothing but a teaser, but the dam surely now has been broken. Any info you find on it from SE, be it a 2-line fluffpiece to a full-on 90 minute techdemo introducing me to my new moghouse moogle, post it up and I'll add it to the pseudo-OP.

Here's hoping for a big old SE spotlight feature in the next few days.

Man. I genuinely thought I was done with SE MMOs... :(

Yeah but it was virtually the only thing I did for the entire six months. It was straight after University, and I was unemployed. No job, no girlfriend, and little in the way of a social life to get in the way. Nothing else to do. I was running on American time, waking at 4pm and staying up until the birds sang, just so I could party with my linkshell. I had a Dark Knight making headway into the Chains of Whatsit content.

Dark, troubled times they were for me.
