In all seriousness whilst I'm not playing at the moment I do like to try and stick to the new gear as I level, but some of my favourite glamours that I often come back to:

1.thumb.jpg.42bac96040e275342b741ab1d10ea33d.jpg

Love Nier and love the Nier raid gear.

3.thumb.jpg.7badbf81f0206ec7e497863caf77a29c.jpg

Red Panda is essential to the look.

I do find myself often disappointed with the new armour, my current set is either a copy of the Shire armour or very close. Dancer has been the big problem, there's not been much that really fits so I've usually stuck with the AF gear.

Jesus, how long did that take you?

The Relic isn't too bad. You can gather a ton of the stuff you need just through doing things like roulettes. The Eureka gear took about a week of solid play. But again not too bad. I think I put everything together in less than 3 weeks.

That's no where near as bad as I feared it would be. I've been holding Eureka off at Arms length for fear how long it will take.

Eureka is a bit old school, reminds me a lot of playing Dark Age of Camelot. But watch some guides and look for groups and it's actually fine. I hit it pretty hard but you can get through it playing casually quite quickly too.

Renewed my sub for a month, but this time on PS5. Good looking on console but selecting targets was very convoluted.

Couldn't start a new character on Moogle which was were I had my old characters.

Choose the fire/ice mage class, seems quite nice. My main goal is to beat my old max level which was 24 I think. 🙂

Final trial stuff:

Spoiler

“I take it this is your prey. But why does it still live? Surely it is no match for you.”

Followed by…

”Let us dispense of this distraction, you and I.”

🔥🔥🔥

What a pep talk, with that music too. Zenos has a future as a motivational speaker if he ever makes it back from the edge of the universe

  • 3 weeks later...

Level 42 now! My Black Mage is coming along nicely. Just doing the main scenario quests now as I am about 10 levels over the current ones. They seem to give so much XP that I stay well ahead of the curve.

Probably means that I am missing a lot of stuff, like when I found out that the new spells past level 30 are quests which I don't think the game told me.

Here I was thinking that the end screen with text rolling by meant I was about to jump into the first expansion. But holy F the quest line between the "ending" and actually being able to start playin Heavensward is as long, if not longer, than the main scenario 1-50. Must say that keeping leveling behind such an extensive questline is not really my cup of tea. Especially not when every fourth quest means you have to wait 30 minutes in Duty que in order to complete a mandatory dungeon or boss.

I think I am nearing the end now though, looking forward to some more "normal" questing as I do 50-60.

I wish they would really clean it up, they did cut quite a few quests and simplify the 'go here then back then here' stuff (really!)

But it is a historic artefact of quick to build content when they were still recovering from the 1.0 fiasco and 'reborn' release as they planned heavensward and realised that the changes had worked and they had a game worth investing in.

Holy shit that was the longest series of quests I have ever done. I never thought it would end, once I thought I was close and was met with "you need to do these three raids too".

But finally done and started Heavensward by entering Ishengard and attuning. 🥳

I got an email from FINAL FANTASY XIV today with the subject header “Play as a male Viera!” The preview text informs me that there’s 30% off Phials of Fantasia just now. The tone and content of the whole thing registered as being akin to some penis-enlarging / viagra/calis inbox spam from circa 2003.

Yeah, I got that, its weird.

There are people who are "addicted" to phantasia too, I can't even play as an alt, id never dream of changing Reii beyond her glamour and hairstyle!

Heavensward is quite different than the base game. Much more like a traditional MMORPG with larger and more open areas, I quite prefer that to the much more restricted surroundings of the base game.

Still quite overleveled, just hit 58 and the main scenario is still around level 53 or so. Guessing it is still so that you have to finish the entire main scenario in order to progress to the next expansion? Not very fond of that structure.

Also just realised that maybe I should level my companion. What spec is preferred? Was thinking of healer as I play as DPS (BLM).

Yeh, you have to progress through each expansion, you can buy story skips but don't do that!

Levelling an alt job is a good way of your main not getting too far ahead, but you will need to get it up to 53 (or whatever) so it can do the story quests.

Must say that the main story line of Heavensward really has slowed down. I don't think I have done anything other than teleport between different places for the last 10-15 quests. Hopefully it will pick up again letting me actually use my characters skills.

Realised I must buy the last three expansions now, just hit level 60 and can't progress any further until I buy the next expansion.

All the expansions do have inconsistent pacing at times... I hope it does grab you when it gets going though!

Do remember to do side stuff and crafting etc if the msq grind is getting to you for a bit. trying a different battle class can be interesting too!
