SMGs are never going to have a high damage, it's all about the fire rate with them. And some have a biiiiig fire rate.

The last decent one I found was at about level 20, everything after that either had no elemental damage, no scope or was really slow firing.

I love my Cold Thanatos. 130 damage, 13 fire rate, 64 clip mag - +80% damage, +20% clip size.

It's a fucking monster.

Where are you guys finding these sick SMGs? I need some better ones for my Siren but they just don't seem to be dropping. I am at the end of my second playthrough too

My main SMG is The Spy. It's only level 22, but still manages to take down most things with a couple of shots.

If you're struggling to find a good weapon, go to somewhere like New Haven, check the shops, check the weapon boxes on the roof, exit, then repeat until you something good appears. It's silly but weapon boxes/shops are so much better than bosses for decent weapons.

My Combustion Hellfire SMG is the only gun from my first playthrough I still use. The fire damage is completely ridiculous, shoot about a third of a guy's health off and then duck behind cover. The fire will finish him off, Metal Storm kicks in and I pop back up and kill all his mates in seconds with my combat rifle.

For me, it's all about the snipers (but I am a hunter) I just got rid of my Volcano for a burst firing sniper. When zoomed in 5 shots all of equal damage in succession. Yes, it does cane the ammo, but it's a thing of beauty.

The more I play the more imaginative the loot becomes. Top Class. DLC on Wednesday too.

I'm playing as a Soldier and just really started using machine guns and combat rifles. Good thing too as (at about level 30 now) my guy is ridiculously effective with them. Chew through pretty much anything so far. I've just started using a lvl29 machine gun called Glorious Havoc or something and it is just Chews up ammo like nobody's business if you're not careful though. Holds a clip of 80 rounds - all you need are short controlled bursts, but sometimes it's really tempting just to hold the trigger down. Actually more effective at range than the sniper rifle I'm carrying too.

I'm actually having to restock on ammo quite a lot on the second playthrough, probably thanks to my decision to go with fire-rate above all else for my Roland. I've got one of those auto-snipers aswell, 12 in the clip emptied in about 8 seconds = big pile of dead bodies but no ammo left.

CoD6 and Assassins Creed 2 both sitting unplayed while I hunt more loot.

Yup. And I'm in love

Also, if you grab the Madjack from the one-eyed guy on the second playthrough it's immense. Explosions and a rate of fire that puts an SMG to shame. I'm proper tooled-up for Wednesday Zombie killing.

So,

I hit the level cap last night trudging through Old Haven.

God it gets difficult especially on your own but starting to find some killer loot. When the baddies are knocking level 50 with their armour and shields regular weapons are pretty much useless. It's now turned into a more like Halo afair with picking your weapons per baddie.

Get rid of the shield using elemental and take out with pin-point pistol shots from my revolver which does a whopping 800 damage.

I'm still loving this so much. The weird thing is that even though I'm at the level cap my XP still keeps going up, I guess this is indication that the cap is going to go up in the next DLC.

Either way, Zombie apolocaypse tomorrow.

On the left-hand side of the skills pane, there's a skill that when maxed up will give you en extra 15% XP for every kill.

I've got that it's immense, am favouring the smg's and shotguns on my siren, havent found any decent ar/machine guns. But this may be due to my class mod that gives +44% smg damage and regens ammo.

It's all about the elemental repeaters with a fire rate of 20 with a gunslinger mod. Unstopable.
