So any feedback on Knoxx?? Opinions online seem to vary - some people disklike the need for lots of driving, some dislike the need for Corrosive Weaps (against the Lance) and some find the idea of a corrosive-dealing 'elite' Lance (e.g. immune to their normal weakness) rather worrying :)

I've played it through.

Quite slow going initially because there are roadblocks preventing you driving straight to where you want to be. Once they're cleared the driving is much faster. Especially in the Racer.

Shit loads of weapons!

Lance are also weak against fire too so just light them up*. Failing that, shoot them in the groin with a none corrosive weapon. They won't last long

*Note, there are some Lance dudes immune to fire also in this DLC

I played this through (a few times) at launch with donpeartree, and we ended up moving onto other stuff before the DLC came out. We've held on to our copies with the intention of getting back into it at some point and getting all of the DLC when we do. We're planning on starting new characters and bombing through it again from tomorrow. What is the best level to tackle the DLC? I understand Moxxi can be safely left until 50 but what level should we be looking at playing the Zombie Island one? Reading some of the complaints about scaling and the like has made me think this isn't going to be as simple as we thought it would be.

If you go in at level 1, all the zombies are around level 10. Best to wait until at least then IMO.

Also, good luck with Moxxi's at level 50 :)

Just thought I'd say I've been playing this the past week and absolutely loving it. Up to Level 20 as a Hunter, there's been a few challenging missions - Bonehead and Marley & Moe spring immediately to mind, but just loving the gunplay and I've never played a game so more-ish!

My mate's getting it soon so will probably start with a new character and play co-op with him (which I haven't even tried yet). For anyone unsure whether to give it a pop I'd definitely give it a big thumbs up.

We restarted and went to Ned's at level 10 as suggested but we're both finding it to be a bit of a slog. It's all right so far, it's just the thought of having to plough through the whole game again seemed better before it was put into practice. We've decided to put these characters on hold and get into some of the other DLC with our level 50 characters.

Which rings me to this:

Also, good luck with Moxxi's at level 50

Why? I thought the cap has only been raised by the latest DLC. Is Moxxi's not supposed to be tackled at level 50?

True. But it's fucking hard!

I appear to have had my playthrough completely fucked up merely by joining someone elses game who had a quest I didn't have yet.

After the end boss, got teleported out when the countdown ran down, as I had the Marcus' Sweep mission in my log from joining someone elses game, now I just went back, had to fight the boss again, but the doors are all shut, and I can't actually hand any of this in now.

If they're going to let you join other people's games randomly online, you'd think they'd not leave a glaring error that leaves the thing uncompletable in it.

Most certainly get at least 2 of you for co-op, with 4 it's even better. The enemies are ROCK and you get loads of them. Highly recommended for 4 players!

Weirdly, Borderlands is now showing achievements in the Steam 'Beta' interface. They've got odd names but they sound sorta Borderlandsy

Bit late to be adding something like that into the game tho surely??

Don't see why not, Torchlight had Steam achievements added a little while after it came out. Annoying for sure if they're not retroactive, but at the end of the day, they're only achievements. Get them again, or don't. :hat:

There are a variety of things which can screw-up your game in this way - a classic issue is joining a game where someone has progressed to New Haven leaving T.K. in what can only be described as an 'undead' status :hat:

The online aspect of Borderlands is a bit of a mess tbh - it requires coordination, planning and (in the case of the PC) a fucktonne of faffing about - which is a shame really.

Any of you yet to clear the armory out first time round on playthrough 2? (That is, before getting Super Marcus Sweep for a second higher level run through it) As the only way I can actually get that quest completed is to do it in someone elses game when they do it. On Xbox 360 mind, not pc.

Guys, I need some tips; or just some moral support to get me through these tough times!

I'm level 15 at the moment, playing with Mordecai. I'm enjoying it, and everything about the way it's designed is appealing; but I'm really struggling with the skags at the moment. They're ruining my enjoyment of the game. I've been surviving the encounters with them (on the whole!), but it usually involves me running around in a circle trying to get shots off with a revolver and it's turning into a bit of a slog each time - and one that I'm not enjoying.

I like the missions/encounters with the humans; but the thought of tackling another group of skags is depressing. I have a mission where I need to take out a couple of the 'daddy' skags; but I couldn't even dent their armour (despite me being the same level as them) and I can't get clear shots at their mouth. I'm being overrun with their minions, and it's just too tough.

Are the skags prominent throughout the game? And what is the best way to deal with them? I'm assuming it's best to just take on other missions until I level up so that they aren't as much of a problem; but the missions I have all seem pretty tough at the moment.

The Skags were a sticking point with me, but once you get past the first area they aren't as prominent as enemies and as you level you'll slay the fuck out of them. Stay with it, get a corrosive/incendiary weapon/grenade, push through it and the game opens up no end.

Moe and Marley? Last couple of times I've done it, I've crept slowly towards them, so most of the minions notice me before they do, chase after me and get killed. Then creep in again, etc. As soon as one of the pair gets you (I think they both do as soon as one does), run back off so they they chase you and you can lead them into the nearby bandit base. The first time I did this, the fire one basically stuck around there, killing bandits, and completely forgot about me while I gradually wore down his mate. Get rid of the minions first; then the fire one is probably the next priority as you can pretty much avoid the shock one if you're quick on your feet enough.

Once you're out of the arid badlands skags don't crop up much, except

Skagzilla

of course. That'll be in about 3-5 levels' time. I guess skags would be particularly annoying with mordecai; as roland you can just open up and take most of them before they're too close, and use the turret if you need to get at their backsides. Brick can out-melee them, and lillith can just phasewalk away and take more potshots.

I'm going to be playing some 4-player this afternoon; it's going to be an organisational nightmare as at least 3 of us are playing Roland, and 3 of us are called Chris

Don't forget to use Bloodwing, and remember that Skags are extremely susceptible to fire damage (except Fire-skags obv)

Im Level 38 and today began PT2, damn its hard! Im at the part where you have to find shock crystals and keep getting wiped out by the Big Mutha Alpha Skags :/

My Tip for PT2 is that if your weapon doesn't have at least x3 elemental damage (and the right kind for each enemy) you're playing it wrong.

Throw away every weapon which lacks high elemental chance damage at the end of PT1 - basically - and start to choose your weapons carefully for each encounter...

Also adapt your 'build' to suit the type of encounter. I only really have experience of Brick/Zerker but I can adapt my skills to favour damage or shield/life regen depending (and reskills are 1/100th the price of dying!!)

p.s. Buy Dr Zed and do that at the end of PT1 and you'll score about 3 levels - enough to give you more chance in PT2...

A lot of Borderlands is about running around like a madman dealing with multiple enemies - and you need the right weapon for the job.

Although Mordecai is clearly intended to be a sniper guy - for those encounters you need to be sporting an SMG or Combat Rifle and just spraying everything (pref one with some elemental damage even).

It's not about the max damage/sec or even damage/hit - it's about the max damage showered onto as many (usually moving) enemies as possible.

From what I've read tho - I'm SO glad I rolled Zerker, it simple seems to suit the game being a big, mean, hard bstard who can punch or shoot as he sees fit.. Even so, my Zerker has a fair bit of Sniper Rifle experience because there are times when it's just the best way to deal with things (even tho I don't even have it as a speciality).

Thanks for the advice, having not to of worried about things like that through PT1 (I usually just opt for the gun that does most damage) its clear that PT2 is a lot more tactical. To be honest, I dont even fully understand Class Mods or what they do as to this point Ive not really needed them!

Class Mods do exactly what they say

Examples:

66% pistol fire rate - means that with pistols, your fire rate is an extra 66%

15% Team Health Regeneration - Everyone on your team gets constant health regen

+3 Ransack Skill - These are descriptive of a skill you have on your skill tree. If you've 'unlocked' this skill then it's basically adding +3 to however many skill points you've already placed on it. For example, if you're at 5/5 then with this mod you're actually at 8/5.

Class Mods will only add to a skill if it has at 1 least 1 'real' point in it (unlocked, as TBB says)

So if you get a mod with +3 Bananas, you need at least 1 in Bananas for that to work.

If you have 5/5 Bananas you do get 8/5 Bananas as TBB says tho.

There appear to be 3/4 for each class and they basically strengthen one of the 'trees' of skills/lean towards a certain playstyle.

It's worth noting that the higher level ones aren't always better - they often introduce downsides as well (such as reduced damage resistance or things like that) so read carefully...

Can I just say, coming to this game late as I am, this game is an abomination to play multiplayer online ON THE PC. It uses Gamespy and I only ever get a small number of games available to join, but then usually I have problems connecting or, when I'm lucky enough to find a joinable host, he's left his computer sat at the lobby screen and buggered off to have a wank.

Am seriously considering picking it up on the 360. At least then people may use the voice chat feature too.

Are you sure about that?

I was under the impression that it adds to the skill tree even if no skill points have already been allocated to it as long as it's 'unlocked/available'

In other news, I have a gun worth $9999999
