I've just grabbed B1 GOTY Enhanced on Steam after wandering into this thread - I've never played a Borderlands on PC so I have no idea how well my desktop will cope   I'd love to get back into multiplayer funs if it works out though.

Oh, and guess which chump has the original Borderlands in his Steam library? That he doesn't remember buying? In July 2010?

This seems much easier now. Just me getting better as I age perhaps?

Yeah you just know it better, I've played it a lot of times including fairly recently on the "old" version and I breeze through these days.

It just seems like the Badass characters and also bosses to a lesser degree are a lot less bullet spongey. I remember Old Haven with the Crimson Lance guys and turrets being a nightmare originally but I just waltzed through it the other day (and then went back cos I had to save old clappers).

  • 2 weeks later...

Been playing the enhanced GOTY version with a mate over the last couple of weeks. The series is just so fucking good, and it's such a shame there's not much else like it. The combination of real time FPS shooter, and RPG-like XP/character building and looting, is just so compelling, and works so well in co op.

I absolutely pounded through the base game of the remaster in about twelve hours and loved it. It was oddly nostalgic. I'm waiting for a mate to have time so I can go through it again with Brick and do all the dlc.

The sniper rifles are garbage though. I went straight to playing the pre-sequel (which is actually a hell of a lot better than I gave it credit for) shows how much better they are.

Also the originals world feels super empty. The sequels aren't much more populated but they don't feel as desolate as the first.

There's a few minor bugs in the GOTY too.  The classic "Phoenix reloading" bug is still there but there's some missing art on radio transmissions and a couple of waypoints that don't really trigger properly.

It's a shame they couldn't fix the "1 fast travel per DLC" thing too.  On Knoxx it's often the best idea to quit and start game again rather than drive 10 minutes back to T-Bone Junction.
