The Playstation Move

Yeah it's good fun. The hardware is lovely, it's light, comfortable and the otherwise ridiculous looking ball on the end of the controller looks perfectly natural given the overall aesthetic of the device.

Got Sports Champions and it proves a good showcase for the platform.

Gladiator feels a bit Wii-like, in that combat feels very gesture based. Archery and Table Tennis are great fun though, and certainly show the accuracy of the hardware. Looking forward to seeing more from it.

Table Tennis is awesome! Making me want to buy the full game.

In the demo there is so serious movement assist going on though, forward and back, can you disable that in the full game?

All assists are turned off by the time you reach the gold cup, and they're not very noticeable in silver.

resident evil is great, but the coop AI is still pants, I need a co-op buddy for a run through to unlock the extra content. Any takers add me, mention resi in the message.

In the few hours I played I was very impressed with the tech too. it just works as it should.

<story about 3D PS3 for BR playback>. Sony also unveiled a motion controller wand for the PS3 called Move, similar to the one already on sale from rival Nintendo's Wii. Move will be on sale in the US from Sunday, but there is no launch date yet for Europe.

Fucksake, I have my copy of Sports Champions but they had to send the Starter Pack with someone else because it was too heavy for the postie or some shit. Oh how I long for the days when it was one man who was loaded down like the pack donkey in Dungeon Siege that actually earned his Christmas Tips.

Picked up the wand and nav controller this morning for my birthday.

Guy in Tesco was insistant that I would need the starter pack for the free games. I told him that I will be happy enough downloading the demos instead. He wasn't happy with me.

Enjoying this. Downloaded the demo of Racquet Sports (from the US store) and Tennis and Badminton are pretty good.

The uk starter disc is good but seems a bit off you have to install them all. No biggie though.

Tempted to get Tumble from the UK store. Seems pretty good for £7.99. The IGN review (35%) seems to have kicked up a stink online though.

Planet Minigolf is apparently move compatible but the demo wont let you play with the move controller!

Hmmm. Does the HR patch feature the new content, too? If not, that's a proper swizz, diddling those who bothered to get it first time around.

Just had a look and the added 45 minutes of extra footage is

Making Of videos: There are 9 Making Of videos totaling in around 45 minutes in length. They feature a behind the scenes insight into the game’s development with interviews from the development team and the game’s cast. If you’re a Heavy Rain fan, they’re not to be missed!

the argument around Tumble is that it's not supposed to be anywhere near as ace as Boom Blox was - but - obviously - most people didn't bother with that lovely little piece of gaming wonderment. :(

The IGN review of Resident Evil 5 complains about how the shoot button isn't on the Wand itself, but on the other controller. This would indeed be pretty odd, but it's untrue, the shoot button is on the Wand!

IGN have some serious questions to answer, some of their recent reviews have had some shocking inaccuracies.

If you mean here, no it doesn't, it says the shoot button is on the Move button rather than the trigger, both on the Move controller. I can understand their point though, if this can't be reassigned or changed with a different control setup, it's a bit weird.

I had a proper futuristic, 'Minority Report' style experience playing Tumble last night.

Being one of three people in the world that could play the game both in 3D and with the Move controller, I was blown away by being able to manipulate the blocks in proper 3D space (not only rotating them with the neat controller but also pulling them into and out of the screen). The 3D is very effective, possibly the best/most useful example of the tech yet. The demo is pretty generous, as it kept me going for over an hour. Even the old man was impressed (it takes a lot). A must buy I reckon.

Really like the 1:1 tracking - it's smooth as hell compared to the Wii and doesn't appear to miss a beat. Absolutely no doubt it's an improvement. I think I'm sold on Table Tennis, especially since it's been mentioned in this thread that as the game progresses the assists turn off (because they were the only down thing about the demo). I thought the Eyepet thing was a bit naff, but the 'Start the Party' impressed more than I imagined it would. That said, I've never bothered with the PS Eye before.

Pity that the cable stuck to the Eye itself large, weighty and dangly. It's a real eyesore and the Playstation doesn't help matters by positioning all of its USB connectors at the front.

Thumbs up from me this. Can't wait for some feature-length games to be released, and am hoping Heavy Rain with its Move patch will keep me going for a while. Hope that Sony gets its act in place and drops the price on the hardware/bundles it with upcoming releases, as Move deserves some proper support.

Oof, The Shoot is a bleeding annoyance. Perhaps it is because I play on a small screen (20 inch monitor) and/or I messed up the calibration but I found it impossible to aim and know where the bullet would land. A cursor on screen would help, A LOT.

This is a pain in the ass!!

The camera is so light that putting it on top of my flatscreen tv, despite being an option in the sony manual for how to set up your camera (and with my TV being on a low set of drawers), is right out due to the weight of the lead immediately yanking it off the top of my set. Not impressive at all.

Oh, I was gonna ask about the camera. Does it have a sticky bottom?

All it seems to have is a kind of a slightly textured pad on the bottom, which to be honest, combined with weight of the lead and the slick surface most tvs have on top, is pretty much useless. The weight of the lead is the main thing though- there's no way the camera can hold it. I'll have to find a way of attaching the lead to the back of the tv or something so that the camera part isn't taking the weight.

It was hard enough to even get the camera in the right position flat on the surface at the bottom of the tv- the wire's so think and heavy, and since it's been bent up in the packaging, it was a nightmare trying to get it to stay in a good position. Might try and stretch it out tonight and see if that makes any difference.
