The Playstation Move

Heavy Rain Move Edition is awkward. You have to learn a complete new lingo in what the various signs mean. Which also work counter-intuitive. A motion controller means holding it upright, while a dot means holding the motion controller level, as the dot is meant to signify the colour-bubble. But when the controller is viewed to see that bubble in that way, it's basically aimed with the front towards you. Combine that with a movement command and my brain starts converting that movement relative to how the icon is viewed.

In other words, seeing a "dot and left" icon, translates in my brain to "move motion controller to the right". And then when you think you've finally got it, it throws a L2+T command at you and you want to scream.

I now know how a casual gamer must feel when presented with the Steel Battalion controller.

I don't know, the OH has refused to touch the wii the entire time that I've been borrowing it from Poet, never played Heavy Rain and yet he had it down within about 5 minutes with the Move controller

I'm stuck on Tumble, Zone 4 I think, the one where you gotta get three pieces up to a small level for the gold. It's always juuuust below it. Arrrgh!

Yeah, I think that was the first level that stumped me for a little while. If I recall correctly it's quite a surprising solution. It's a pity the game doesn't show you how you did it when you return, otherwise I'd be able to offer hints, but I can't remember it exactly.

Proves my brain is acting all funny then. No surprises there.

Well, I've bought one! And I picked up Sports Champions too. I haven't set it all up yet though, I'll do that later. Do you need to update from v3.41 to use it?

I think it'll do quite well. It's easy to integrate into games that can use the normal controller too, and it won't leave people wondering what the fuck it's all about (like with the Motion Plus).

That's 'So Near, Yet So Far' isn't it? I've just done it and it's a complete shit, but you will have learned a strange new stacking skill when you figure it out.

I played these for most of last night and they're absolutely brilliant fun with Move, reaching into the screen to place a block in Tumble is just astonishing to me, it feels perfect and real.

You know what would make it perfect? 3D support. Nevermind racing games with shit flying in your face or an FPS where you can see your gun waving about in front of you, reaching into a proper 3D environment and moving them blocks about? It'd be aces.

I'm telling you, there's much worse to come.

I'm already stuck on the next bonus puzzle. I've just turned it off because it's making me feel thick :(

If you have the TV it does support 3D, I'm pretty sure one of our forum members has played it 'full-spec' as it were.

Just had a great evening with friends and the Move. I think a lot of people are underestimating Start The Party. Seeing yourself on screen wielding all manner of objects is a definite winner, and that alone convinced one PS3 owning friend to pick up Move, whilst another said they'll be getting a PS3 for it this Christmas.

Whatever the outcome, I think Sony have put together a good set of launch titles. Sure there's potential for more, but I think these titles plant the seed of expectation there, and have done a good job of getting people excited for what's to come.

Archery was a really popular game this evening too, espescially with the two controllers. It certainly adds an extra layer of immersion to the experience.
