The online multiplayer is just the emulator tricking the game into thinking everyone is playing locally, the game doesn’t actually know or care.

So it doesn't even have proper netcode for online play?

I like that it's free for Rare Replay owners. I mean, I'd have bought it anyway if it wasn't on Game Pass, but now there's several layers explaining why I don't have to pay for it.

Yeah that respect for RARE Replay is so nice to see. I'm really happy they did that, as it has always belonged in that collection. Thinking of it, after Atari 50, I want to potter around that collection again.

You can criticise MS for many things, but their commitment to keeping their back catalogue accessible is second to none. A game I bought for like a tenner 7 years ago, just getting this, now, for nothing? Ace.

Just seen Graeme Norgate tweeted this last month, encouraging obsessive ocd sensitive Goldeneye fans to go through every single track to pointlessly determine which of the two composers you prefer. Otherwise why tweet it, because the urge to do so is so strong I'm not sure i can resist. If i can condense all that into a tweet to tell him how much of a bastard he is i'm gonna do it.

To make sure there's an accurate music credits list readily available online, so that people know who did what music without them having to do the sort of detective work that fans devoted to Sonic 3's soundtrack?

That’s a travesty 😞

I'd be cancelling my pre-order if I had one.

Are half the instruments missing or is it just that industrial gong kinda sound?

It's an exaggeration, it's the industrial gong kinda sound that's missing, although it does appear to be lacking reverb too.

Thanks, sometimes I can't recognise these kind of things and am learning it's best just to ask. Obviously I listened to both versions a bunch of times first before coming to this realisation 😩

The N64 version did so I expect so.

Yes, and the 4 people lucky and rich enough to have bought 2 NSO N64 controllers will enjoy that, I’m very sure. 😉

Thinking about it, the default controls for Goldeneye - you just can’t go back to them anymore. Nobody’s brain is wired to play a console fps with move forward & back/ turn left & right on the same stick in 2023.

The dual stick controls on Xbox will be fine, but nobody will be playing that online. Am I finally going to have to learn the Turok control scheme after all these years?

I came to GoldenEye a few years after release, and used a control method which was move and strafe on the d-pad, and look on the stick (which you used with your right hand). You had to contort your thumb to press the face buttons every once in a while, but I just couldn’t get the hang of the default scheme.

Nt quite 1.2 Solitaire.... You were almost shown the right way :)

That was the same, but movement was on the Yellow buttons, looking around using the stick with your left.

So this doesn’t have improved textures like the 360 beta? Shame…

The Xbox version has higher resolution textures and frame rate, but is apparently not the unreleased 360 Arcade port.

Not the best photo, but it gives you an idea of the difference in presentation.
It may not be to everyone’s taste, but I like what they did with the 360 version.

Can it be purchased separately from Rare replay I wonder ?

No. It’s only available as part of the digital version of Rare Replay or via Gamepass. You cannot buy it separately.
