I’m playing this on Xbox - how do you zoom in on the sniper rifle?

And on the old game a cursor appeared when moving the analogue around and holding in a button and I can’t figure out how to do that?

60 on the Xbox.

I think Switch is the same isn’t it?

I haven't tried it yet, you might well be right! Does the Switch version support dual analogue sticks?  I think the input method on Xbox is called 7.1 diamond.

Kinda perverse to have the N64 controller, know it's the most authentic way to play N64 games and that it's highly coveted because it's always sold out, and yet know that it's absolutely the worst way to play Goldeneye.

Left trigger by default, similar to modern games.

Hold the left button to bring up the crosshair; while holding press up on the left stick to zoom in and down to zoom out

Wish I could play it.. remember reading all the previews/reviews and saving up for months when it first came out. Only to discover that running around the levels made me want to throw up all the time! Awful :( Only seemed to effect me on a few titles back then.

I managed fine with that, Quake always made me ill but both Dooms were fine. I don't get the problem anymore in FPS titles so must have been something with a few of them.

Can’t buy this separately for Switch? Subscription only?

Don’t think so, it’s part of the expansion pack which is extra on top of the normal online sub.

My 10 year old wouldn't leave the house this morning for Breakfast club - this isn't a mis-post to the Things that F*ck you off Thread as its because I booted up the Xbox to download the game - showed him and after briefly questioning the graphics - grabbed the control off me, got sucked in and wouldn't go anywhere until he completed The Dam.

So they have a new convert.

Does this install into Rare Replay or standalone on Xbox?

Stand alone. I have disc version of Rare Replay but it didn't ask for anything. I guess it just checks your profile to see if you have played Rare Replay at some point?

You need to change a setting for that, I think it's called aim lock.

Left trigger brings up the reticule then the stick moves it around.

Hmm. Briefly loaded up the Switch version and I cannot find a good dual stick control method. Am I missing something?

It's also not widescreen. Xbox version is clearly the pick of the two.

Set your aspect ratio to 16:9 and it's widescreen

Do you have Game Pass? Because it's free on Game Pass along with the rest of Rare Replay.

I'm surprised it's not 60fps, as the game runs quite nicely at 60fps on some of the emulators I've tried. But otherwise, this is Goldeneye - it's like getting a lovely blu-ray transfer of your favourite film, with no extras and no directors commentary, but also without all the CGI additions and re-graded visuals so everything looks all green or blue. It's odd just how close it is to the original - there's not even an option screen- in the main menu, everything is done through the watch in-game, and it would have been nice to have one of the (really pretty good) CRT filters from Rare Replay. But it's Goldeneye - it doesn't need much doing to it. It's a classic.
