OK, I'll flesh this out in a bit but firstly... promotions and demotions from last season will be handled depending on who actually still wants to play, and how many people we get playing. There's no point saying who goes where 'til then really. Did anyone at all ever complete their playoffs? I suspect not given it was a bit tricky to tell who did what.

Next up, division sizes. I'm going to try to keep the numbers in each division to no more than 9 (to keep the number of games down) which means 16 games per season for 9 people, or 14 if there's 8, hopefully the numbers end up making this easy. Going from there, there's the question of games per week. Personally, I liked three and would still like three but a lot of people seemed to struggle to get them played, even though we're only talking about 10 minutes per match when it comes down to it. For the people playing this season, project your thoughts via the magic of the poll bearing in mind that two games per week will add around three weeks to the season (which would be about 5 weeks long otherwise). I really think that the key to keeping people interested in the league is to keep it as short as possible.

edit: But it's also obviously holiday season so that makes things a bit more tricky regarding getting things played, maybe less per week would be better for this one?

Most everything else will be staying as similar as possible to last time, as covered here, but I do want to impose some sort of limit on unplayed games such as saying if it's not been played within three weeks (which allows for a two week holiday plus a week to get outstanding matched played), then whoever caused the holdup loses the match. Also I want to make the entire fixture list available from the start, so people can play games ahead of time if they want as long as they hold onto the scores and post them when the correct week comes up (I think the FIFA leagues do something along those lines).

I'm cool with that, as long as the accepted norm is to wait until the date of the fixture. In my case, if I'd played most of my matches in advance, I'd been hammered. :blah: The sense of being able to improve your game as you go along is the draw for me here.

For sure, I was only thinking of it as something people could arrange to play their games they'll miss before they go on holiday or something. I'll add a "please give your opponent the reason" clause, just so nobody uses it just to get the drop on someone :(

Donpeartree and I always intended on playing our playoff, but haven't got round to it yet. We can do it if necessary?

May as well just in case, if you don't have time for first to 10 then first to whatever you both want would be reasonable in this case :hat: I'll see if I can work out who else might be best off doing the same.

Had a message from donpeartree, he's finished with SFIV and so isn't interested in playing the playoff.

Options are:

- I WIN yeah

- I can play whoever finished below don as a playoff

Any suggestions?

Just leave it in that case, it might not matter anyway.

Why not just have 1 division so everyone can play each other?

Because if we have say, 26 players then that's 50 league games everyone would need to play in one season, which at 3 games a week is about 17 weeks worth. I'm guessing/hoping that a shorter turnaround involved with small divisions means people keep their interest a bit more and also it lessens the impact of if someone does decide to drop out.

This should be interesting. I haven't played SF4 in months, I haven't even seen what the Championship update does. Lately I've been wanting to get back into it despite the lack of lobbies, and when I saw the announcement for this league, I thought this would be a good way as any. I don't expect to win anything, but it should be fun <_<
