I'm astonished he's not made anything called Kane Train before. That's ace though. Machinedrum is such a talented producer.

I remember when he was more a part of the American IDM scene back in the early 00s doing that brand of hip-hop flavoured melodic beats that sounded something like it had rebounded off Boards Of Canada, incorporated more recognisable hip-hop elements.

This was one of my favourites from that period. He was one of the few who managed to adapt his style and get some success from it.

Used to know him via IRC back then, did a couple of remixes for him. But he's too big to be talking to the likes of me these days. Really talented bloke.

Yeah he used to have more of a grab bag of styles and settled into footwork for a bit which is where I think he probably excels. Saying that he seems to be able to skip from juke to trap to ultra neon electronic music and keep an authentically to what he does. He's revered amongst the Tek Life mob which is no easy feat.

What were the remixes you did? Would love to hear them.

He's gone way beyond what he was doing back then, It's really good to see how much respect he's getting these days.

I did two, one was drill'n'bass-style fast breaks, and this one from a pretty good remix compilation. 2003 vintage.

Not 90s or LL Cool J, but it’s got a “you got it” sample:

THIS is Hip-Hop:

"I see too many lies too much cap in America
I want to shield from it all, I need a Captain America
I want to break down the systems that we kept in America
Had to react to black people getting capped in America"
