One of my personal faves, featuring Kool Keith - absurd how well their styles go together. The world deserved more of this instead of DOOM taken away from it at such a young age:

There's just so much. I could fill this entire thread posting my favourite MF DOOMs.

This track features one of my favourite Doom verses for sure. It’s where that doobie / ruby doozy comes from.

“What up
To all rappers, shut up with your shuttin' up
And keep your shirt on, at least a button up
Yuck, is they rhymers or strippin' males
Outta work jerks since they shut down Chippendales
They chippin' nails, Doom, chippin' scales
Let alone the pre-orders that's counted off shippin' sales
This one goes out to all my people skippin' bail
Dippin' jail, whippin' tail and sippin' ale

Light the doobie 'til it glow like a ruby
After which they couldn't find the villain like Scooby”

Remember me God, clean Timbs with emery board?
He only came to save the game like a memory card.

Blew the whole shit up on some "what this button do"

Doom cheat the game like a walk thru

It's worth mentioning, they finally tracked down the source of the sample DOOM used for Arrow Root a few months ago. This is a great article outlining the absolute quest that went into finding it

'Sample' is pushing it.  He's literally looped it!  But still a beaut.

Listening to beef rapp while reading this thread and that verse kicks in exactly as I’m reading the same words from Cal’s post. Hehe..nice little coincidence anyway. :)

RIP Doom - a big part of my hip hop (and music and art generally) journey.

I forgot his son had died a few years ago too. Tragic life he had.

Most I've been upset about a musician's death in ages.

The only famous people dying I've been properly upset about are Bourdain and DOOM. Wild how you just feel like you know some people even though you never met them once. When podcasters start dropping I'm gonna be in a bad way.

That doesn't quite come across how I intended it to. Like obviously you should feel like you know these people somewhat. What I mean is that it almost feels like they should know me too.

Parasocial relationships. It's a recognised thing.

Your podcast point already happened for me, Ryan Davis from Giant Bomb died suddenly years ago and I was really cut up about it.

"Read the signs, no feeding the baboons
Seein' as how they got ya back, bleedin' from the stab wounds"

I love that both of these lines lead you up the garden path, with the first part of each making contextual sense both literally and figuratively.

"Exercise index, won't need bowflex..."

You need a line that conveys that you solve problems by the use of firearms rather than physical altercation, how many words can you fit- wait, what, two?

DOOM beats .zip at compression.

"in effect like alternate side of the street parking rules"

Just how this line works rhythmically.
