The Walking Dead!

The Sarge

Only look at this after you have watched the final episode as it may contain hints of how the episode ends.

Spoiler

For those who thought you could get rid of the walking dead, it would seem it's expanding

It turns out that Rick Grimes is going to be featuring in 3 films

I've just spent my first hour of work reading up on everything that happened since Carls death. I wanted to see what had happened but not enough to bother watching.

So they've basically rebooted the show mid season 9.

Some good moments in that but also felt like a massive cop out.

Rick talking to Hershel brought a tear to my eye

I'll always find it funny when someone is alone and almost overwhelmed by the "walkers" and then literally every named character appears to fight the herd

Spoiler

I was surprised by Hershal as the actor has recently died, I didn't know he'd filmed one last scene before his death.

Spoiler

This episode went exactly as I thought it would so I'm not really disappointed, just a bit partridge.gif

Credit where it's due, that was a cracking bit of TV. I totally get why people are pissed at the way they wrapped things up and I can take it or leave it to be honest with you, but everything preceding the end was great. Hit all the right emotional beats. The Maggie and Negan scene was expertly handled with a standout performance from Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Kept a brisk pace and was a good representation of the journey Rick was on. The final scene with Rick (well, one to last) was great, with everything from the soundtrack to the editing serving the climax. Yeah, I've talked plenty of shit about the show, but that was a solid episode. Controversial for obvious reasons, but a series highlight for me.

I enjoyed it a lot.

Spoiler

I knew Hershal was to appear as I read he had filmed something prior to Scott Wilson's death from leukaemia. Hershal was one of my favourites in the early series so it was great to see him. Even if he did look quite failed. Shane's appearance was a very welcome surprise. I loved Shane in the first two seasons. His chemistry with Lincoln always sold their relationship.

The one cameo I could have done without was Tasha. I have no attachment to the character and the dialogue in the scene descended to the levels of the "It's all about you!", "No it's all about us!" crap that made Karl's death so drawn out.

Other than that it continued something of a return to form that I've felt since the beginning of this season.

I totally didn't get why Sasha was there, would have made more sense having Glenn or Coral in that scene

I’ve been buying individual episodes of season 9 on the PS Store. If I now buy the season do they deduct what you slready paid for the episodes already?

Isnt it cheaper to pay for NowTV?

after being pissed off at all the 'Rick dies spoilers', he doesn't die and is getting his own spin-off movie instead?? Well played to the production team for the misdirection I guess.

Nope! You've got that wrong

This show just continues to get more bonkers...

Spoiler

Because we've jumped in time that means everyone has a new hairstyle of course. Seemed to be an episode where I mainly reviewing people's hair. Can't really remember much else. The ending was a bit AlanPatridgeShrug.Gif but afterwards I realized it was a hint of the next enemy faction from the comics. Had to rewatch to notice it, not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Perhaps it's good, not over stating it from the start. Have to say I'm impressed they were brave enough to do the time jump for real and halfway through a (half) season, usually in TV something like this would happen at at the start/end of a season.

I'm so confused about Maggie. I've heard she isn't in it no more but they mentioned about taking the new group to hillside to meet the leader who they referred to as a woman.

Oh and Gabrielle continues to just get worse and worse.

Spoiler

This is something that happens to Gabriel in the comics so may or may not be a spoiler:

Spoiler

He has a nasty death where he gets stuck upside down on a ladder and gets eaten alive by a horde. Hopefully the scene gets recreated in the series:

I liked the latest episode, it is setting up for what could be a great rest of season, as long as they don't fuck it up.

They'll fuck it up though, they always do.
