The Walking Dead!

Well, I don't know about the comic but the preview for episode 5 after last nights episode showed

that they were definitely driving off to somewhere new, with Shane and Rick arguing about it a bit (probably makes up the start of next week's episode). They definitely had a shot of the trailer and so on heading off down the road. Perhaps they will only do one of the locations you mentioned rather than both of them. Maybe mix two of them together? Two episodes doesn't seem like a difficult amount of time to get them set up somewhere else, I'm sure they could do it in one. I just wonder what drama they'll be able to create out of it to have a great finale

Re. Episode 4

Amy :(

I spent pretty much 2 minutes straight at the end there yelling "get the fuck away" at her sister, though her reaction was completely understandable of course.

Anyway, Glenn continues to be ace, Merle's Bruv is kinda cool really and it was a pleasant twist with the 'gang' hideout. And yeah, the ending was suitably headshotastic and grim as hell. Best episode since the opener.

Couple of things:

* Won't the gang guy Not-Merle shot in the arse get zombie AIDS?

* Wouldn't it be less traumatic to break/cut off your thumb than your entire hand while still resulting in escaping the cuffs?

Merle is tough but he's not that smart. Remember he was on the roof just shooting like an arsehole before. He doesn't seem the type to be able to wrangle a huge pile of zombies. Plus, for all he knew, his brother was still at the camp. The camp survivors were all having a pow-wow with no guards around the fire. Also, Glen drove a car, flashing lights and blasting the alarm all the way there earlier.

I still think it's likely. There's always the possibility that he turned and, in a Dawn of the Dead-style, led them all to the hideout himself. Although they'd probably have shown that if they did. Whatever the case, him just suddenly turning up at the camp alive or dead for a fight doesn't seem that interesting a plot point.

Anyway, what a series so far. Far, far too short. I still get a kind of nervous excitement watching zombie movies and I can feel myself shivering with the tension of the situation every episode. Even in situations where there's no undead around I'm bracing myself for a surprise attack; it's great having something scare me and thrill me like that and not feel jaded.

The grave digging guy turned to the group and said OH, NOW I REMEMBER WHAT MY DREAM WAS ABOUT LOL

I liked episode 4 a lot too. The opening scene in the boat was unexpectedly touching, the gang stuff had an interesting twist and we got some zombie action.

This is really what TWD is about, groups of people in tight survival situations eventually letting their guards down and bad shit happening as a result.

Stinky fresh fish probably wasn't the best thing to cook whilst not having a lookout.

Overall I liked episode 4 a lot. But I thought the opening scene in the boat was toe-curlingly cheesy.

It seems there is always one scene per episode that turns the cheese factor up to 11.

It's always the right side of cheesy though, it's the kind of emotive speech normal semi-articulate people would use, rather than being overwrought and overwritten. People are cheesy and sentimental, especially I imagine when almost everyone on the planet has been eaten by monsters.

I wouldn't worry about it, in a zombie apocalypse, dwelling on the past only gets you dead.

Episode 4

I'll be honest, I was all ready to give up on this after that horrendous intro on the boat, but put that aside a second and you've got a really enjoyable 45 minutes. The last few minutes had me yelling "Now that's more like it!" :D They really know how to do gun shots in this. Both visually and audibly :D

On a side note, I'm not too sure the series should really try and accommodate a 45 minute episode format too much, by which I mean trying to make each segment be all inclusive, to have an obvious beginning, middle and end, but it does seam to like taking its time and I do love it for that. Just wish it could be a bit more like the wire in terms of pace though.

Also comic to tv difference

Doesn't Ricks cop mate get killed by Rick in the forest though? Doesn't his jealousy get the better of him rather than becoming zombie fodder? Enjoying the differences so far, but I feel the tv shows playing it a bit too safe in parts and overly sentimental in other parts. Hoodlums helping defend old yins? It got away with it but only just <_<*

*The Road's ways have pretty much cemented the blue print in my mind on what humans are capable of when it comes to survival. Maybe there's a twist and they're actually keeping them alive to eat? Infirm old people would be perfect for that actually...

Nah, in the comics, shane is shot by Carl (Rik's son, for those not keeping up)

Which is really close to the line and i was hoping we were going to see, as that character's descent is one of the most prolific to me.

COMIC SPOILER

I'm not sure they are going to be able to cram them leaving the camp, going to Wiltshire Estates, AND doing Hershel's farm into the next two episodes, well, not without extending the season finale by a bit :eyebrows:

One ep for them leaving camp and finding Wiltshire Estates, one Ep for Hershel's Farm (they cannot lose either of these segments, surely) and then one ep for showdown between Rick and whatsisname, followed by arriving at the priz, surely? I reckon that would fit quite well.

The boat scene was appalling. I've been bigging the comic up to the other half and she has enjoyed the show up till this episode but apart from Zombie-apocalypse it was a bad episode. She really didn't enjoy it all apart from those last ten minutes. They were good but the whole fight could have been longer. It felt really rushed.

The gang stuff was well thought out but still a bit stupid, but the ending was brilliant. I'm all up for the next episode after the okay third episode.

I just thought it was very stupid. Didn't really come across as believable in any way.

Aye, the show seams to be filled full of extremely bad writing. I still can't forget that wee speach Rick gives infront of everyone when they need to cut a zombie up. It was so fucking ham fisted and out of fucking nowhere, it just came through as drivel rather than something heart felt.

In the latest episode where the sister cradles her dying sister, how much better would it have been if she was denied that solace and dragged off for one the group to finish her off before she turns.

I really liked the latest episode

and for some reason found the zombie attack at the end to be very traumatic. I think it's because there were young kids in danger and that doesn't sit well with me any more. Overall though, really good stuff again. I disliked the hick-brother to start with but grew to like him as the show wore on. I also liked the fact that they did decide to go back in tooled up, reading for a fight.

I like Grimes, a couple of things hint at a backstory we're yet to know (or I'm reading too much into things). Like the fact he was so quick to pull the gun on the hick guy, the fact that he did go back in tooled up, and not negotiate, and Jim, saying he was hard as nails. I knew something wasn't quite right with the gang as soon as we met the leader. He spoke too well, with too much intelligent to just be a gang-banger. I liked how it worked out.

One thing I did expect, that the bitten/dead sister would suddenly come back to life and bite her sister.

Any news on when the show will return once these six are done?

I thought it was a decent enough episode,

the boat scene was a bit lumpy, but I think that's partially down to previous episodes. We've not really been properly introduced to the characters in the camp, and in order for the final sequence to mean something, there was some fast work needed to sew in family relationships to try and give it some emotional work. I kind of think it's because the series has a short run, and it's maybe biting off a little more than it kind chew (sorry... ) in terms of scope. Some guy got bitten in the attack at the end, and I was struggling to work out who he was.

But I thought the acting in the final scene with the sisters was great, really did find myself seeing how painful and horrific it would be to lose someone like that. The only thing that really jumped out for me in the ep was how great a shot everyone is- it's headshot! headshot! headshot! all the way.

Not really feeling the love with this to be honest.

Really enjoyed the 1st episode but feel it's gone downhill from there.

There's only 2 more episodes for this I think? I'll stick with it until then, and I really hope it does get better because it has so much potential to do so.
