Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition

Why does the business arrangement behind this game matter to you?

Why does anything other than how a game plays matter to anyone?

Anyway, the fact that this playable as normal with a DS3 changes my opinion, it's basically just a GOTY edition now rather than a potentially risky punt on a new control system.

What - so only waggle users should be able to play the mansion bit?

Resi 5 is brilliant, I don't understand the hate for it. It's not the best resi game but miles and miles ahead of all other games in the same genre.

Except for RE4. And Dead Space.

No, no. I'm just saying the first reports suggested it was going to be some kind of launch title exclusive for the DualWaggle. The fact that they're talking about releasing it as DLC for both PS3 / 360 basically blows my suggestion of it being some kind of paid exclusive out of the water and also massively sensible from a commercial POV.

Well, first reports said it was going to be a patch for RE5. Looks like they've taken the opportunity to add more content and charge money.

I'm not sure where you're going with this assertion that Sony would have to throw money around to encourage developers to support a new, better controller. Any developer with a first- or third-person game or a cursor-driven game that can be adapted relatively easily will be all over it, assuming it works as demonstrated and isn't priced ridiculously.

Alternative Edition content coming to Europe as DLC.

Based on your feedback, in North American, European and Australia territories, Capcom will be making the new RE5 content for both Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 available as downloadable content. You will not be asked to purchase a new copy of the game just to get at the new stuff, just make sure to hold on to your RE5 disc and you’ll be ready to roll in Spring 2010 when we make available new Resident Evil adventures (and some other things we haven’t told you about yet) for you. Keep that in mind when thinking about selling RE5 back or handing it off to a friend :)

I thought so at first but then actually played Dead Space and was extremely impressed. Brilliant atmospherics and it has loads of its own ideas. Like Smitty says, it's exactly what I hoped Doom 3 would be. Doom 3 is proper rofl in comparison.

I thought the final pandemomium levels in Doom3 were really good, much better than any section in Dead Space. A shame they ended so quickly but they kept the Hell theme going in the expansions, which turned out to be even better than the main game.

The soundscape in Dead Space is amazing though, makes it worth playing.

Anyway - Resi 5 - a good second place for Action Adventure of the Year for me

Well behind the Bat, a bit ahead of Uncharted 2.

I've played Doom 3 (to the last boss) and I think Dead Space absolutely pisses all over it.

In fact, Dead Space is kinda what I hoped Doom 3 would be, but wasn't.

Ah, your Dead Space love has been away too long. I was using DS to test my new telly and accidentally played it through to completion.
