Michael Bay, I salute you :)

Never would of thought that Bay of all directors would be the one to take a stand on this faux-3D bandwagon :)

Transformers 3 in 2D only, studios told to GTFO:

“I shoot complicated stuff, I put real elements into action scenes and honestly, I am not sold right now on the conversion process,” says Michael Bay. Paramount and DreamWorks are pressuring him to allow Transformers 3 to be dimensional-ized after the fact, because there simply isn’t enough time to shoot with 3D camera and post the film between now and its July 1, 2011 release date. Cameron took his time on Avatar, and will do the same with the elaborate Fantastic Voyage remake he’s producing for Fox. His longtime 3D documentary collaborator, Andrew Wight, did the same when he produced the underwater thriller Sanctum. Conversions, on the other hand, are rush jobs done right before release dates.

Bay investigated shooting at least some Transformers 3 footage with 3D cameras, but found them too heavy and cumbersome for the fast pace action scenes he shoots. Bay feels the process of sending out 2D film for 3D conversion is more problematic and pricey than studios are admitting.

“I am trying to be sold, and some companies are still working on the shots I gave them,” Bay said. “Right now, it looks like fake 3D, with layers that are very apparent. You go to the screening room, you are hoping to be thrilled, and you’re thinking, huh, this kind of sucks. People can say whatever they want about my movies, but they are technically precise, and if this isn’t going to be excellent, I don’t want to do it. And it is my choice.”

Said Bay: “I’m used to having the A-team working on my films, and I’m going to hand it over to the D-team, have it shipped to India and hope for the best? This conversion process is always going to be inferior to shooting in real 3D. Studios might be willing to sacrifice the look and use the gimmick to make $3 more a ticket, but I’m not. Avatar took four years. You can’t just shit out a 3D movie. I’m saying, the jury is still out.”

With the news that Megan Fox is not returning for Transformers 3, speculation has already begun about who may replace her in the now coveted role. After the news hit earlier today, TheWrap posted an interesting bit:

"Prince of Persia" star Gemma Arterton is the front-runner to replace Megan Fox in "Transformers 3," TheWrap has learned.

An individual close to the casting process says the actress has already had discussions with Bay about the coveted role. Other possible replacements for Fox include models Bar Rafaeli, Miranda Kerr and Brooklyn Decker.

What is interesting about this is that we got a chance to talk to Gemma at the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time premiere on Monday night. We only got her for a few seconds on the red carpet and we took that time to ask her about a possible Clash of the Titans sequel. She gave us a rather cryptic response.

"I don't know if I am doing 'Clash of the Titans 2.' I haven't seen a script yet so I don't know if it's happening," she said. Cool, that's a normal reaction, but then we asked whether she would want to make the sequel, and we got this answer: "I'm not saying."

We thought it was a weird response but moved on until we read the above about the possibility of her starring in Transformers 3. We're not sure when they would start production on a second Clash of the Titans, and one would think that she could do both, though her reaction may be telling that she's going to concentrate on the Michael Bay sequel for now.

We'll have to wait and see how this one turns out! We should know soon who gets the role as shooting is already getting underway.

So why the fuck did you make Revenge of the Fallen then?

I think he means the "convincing-ness" of the special effects, which although visually awful have IMO always been technically excellent. There's no Scorpion King nonsense. He's probably wary of 3D making his films look like Clash of the Titans.

News!

Megan Fox won't be appearing in the third 'Transformers' movie.

The Hollywood beauty riled director Michael Bay following the release of the second 'Transformers' film last year by claiming that he was “was a nightmare to work for”.

It left Bay to state that Fox “still has a lot of growing up to do”.

And now Paramount has decided not to pick up Fox's option for the third film. While the studio has declined to give reasons for her exit, the actress has said that it was actually her who opted out of the franchise.

A spokesperson said, "Megan Fox will not be starring in 'Transformers 3'. It was her decision not to return. She wishes the franchise the best."

And who will replace Fox in the film? It's been reported that 'Prince of Persia's' Gemma Arterton is the front-runner to star as Shia LaBeouf's love interest.

So, they've lost two big name screenwriters and the female lead. I have to wonder if, in spite of the big money the picture pulled in, it's something people don't want to be associated with.

The screenwriters yes, Fox I wouldnt have thought so. I would say that Bay gave her the boot and shes just trying to cover her back by saying it was her decision. For one thing Transformers 1 & 2 are the biggest movies she has been in and its what launched her career, Jennifers Body was a huge flop and Jonah Hex doesnt look like its going be a huge success either judging by the little buzz for the film so far, I dont think even she would be dumb enough to turn T3 down after the success of the previous ones, even if it does mean working with Bay. Also she was very vocal about her experience working with Bay in the past and if it really was her decision dont you think she would be a bit more vocal about it?

From what i'm hearing through slashfilm etc, Fox left because Bay was an asshole to both her and every other woman he worked with on his movies. The Pretender chick from Revenge also couldn't stand Bay which is why she never toured with Bay to promote the second film.

Looks like her being so vocal caused Bay to become even more of a prick to her.

EDIT: what also doesn't really help is the fact that Nikki Finke, who broke the story of Paramount ditching Fox, is close friends with one of the studio heads at Paramount.

Yeah I read that as well. Well it just seems like career suicide to me regardless :coffee: Maybe Bay is a complete prick to women or it could be down to Fox being a right piece of work (Ive read more accounts of her being a bit of a diva on set than Bay being an asshole) although most likely its probably a bit of both.

Still its not going to be a great loss, I was never a fan of hers in the first 2 movies anyway as she was nothing more than eye candy and added little to the films other than T&A (not Fox's fault, but I cant say Ive been too impressed with her acting outside of TF either). Hopefully the replacement will actually have a decent role and not just be there for slow-mo boob and arse shots.

Looks like Rachael Weiz(sp)

A 15 year old version maybe
