Rllmuk SFIV League 1st Division Fixtures - Week 3, Season 3

I'm winner! And I'm making the most of it - I've got games against 2nd and 3rd in the shapes of carlito and dood so I doubt I'll be there long - but in the meantime BASK IN MY GLORY! We've got a bit of a backlog to work through, but donk's apparently available to play now and so no excuses from anyone! Especially myself, I've been a bit crap too to be fair. But even so, I've played enough games to get to the top of the division, which I may or may not have mentioned already :facepalm:

Really a tale of two missed Ultras for me. Or more specifically, two missed Ultra opportunities. One in the first match that, while it wouldn't have won the round for me, it definitely would have put me in the driving seat after a missed ultra by dood but more annoyingly on my end, I was trying to execute in the last round and did something else (can't remember what) that allowed dood to simply throw me down to take the win. Whether I had hit it or not wouldn't have mattered - block damage would have been overwhelming :(

Well played dood! You had 2 or 3 incredibly strong rounds! (although that one at the end I pretty much gave up on to save meter! ;) )

Haha 'Tale of two ultras' indeed! Both missing good opportunities, with some amazingly leet close finishes! One round's end reminded me a lot of those epic MK vs SF2 flash animations :D :D

My only gripe (and please don't take this the wrong way, it's just I've had a couple of glasses of wine since we played! hehe) is that you play 'run away' quite a bit; you'd do a lot better with a more offensive style I think, as when the momentum was in your hands I was really losing my cool :facepalm:

I'm really fucked off about that, I've reined them in because I know they're dangerous to use so why I was popping them out all over the shop when I was bloody miles away with no jump in I have no explanation for, then whenever there was a jump in I was always too late with them. Just shoddy! And the complete lack of learning when you countered my jumpins with SBKs was ridiculous, I just kept doing it :facepalm: Still, you undoubtedly know your Chun, entertaining to watch even if I was on the receiving end :D

I'm back, baby! Played an arseload better than against dood, nice wakeup mixup stuff and even managed a perfect :facepalm: Less throw-into-ultra than expected (more throw-into-ex-hurricane, damn that move!), but I still ate one and was fortunate to be left with just enough health to throw in an ultra of my own. Good games and thanks for the friendlies, which I'm slowly getting better at. One this I noticed - especially so in the friendlies afterwards when I was experimenting a bit more - is that this sodding pad isn't great at hitting anything on the right hand side, qcfx2 ultras were abominable to get out, as was Cammy's hooligan combo when facing that way. If sticks weren't so expensive I'd be sorely tempted, although thanks to my amazon returns confusion tactics I did somehow end up with the pad free so I shouldn't complain too much :D

Oh, and sorry for being absent at the start, the bloody window cleaner came round to be paid just as you hit the lobby and he's a bit of a talker!

Result confirmed. Pretty much nothing went my way in these matches. Right from the off, landed my ultra, baited Stefcha's one and somehow it hit, meaning I lost a round I should have won. It went on from there really and with bloody cannon spike having priority over absolutely everything it soon was over. Ho hum.

Friendlies were better and I managed to save face there. Looking forward to the rematch as I feel I have a point to prove somewhat! :rolleyes:

Mad Catz, you complete and utter set of cocks, I placed SOME FAITH and all I got in return was SHIT IN MY HANDS :rolleyes:

We need to play before Wednesday. I've been mad busy at work (sound familiar?), wedding anniversary last weekend, working away last week and wife's birthday this weekend.

I'm busy tomorrow night but will be available for a portion of Tuesday and Wednesday night, likely from 8:30pm onwards.

Will either of those two times be any good for you? If not we might be able to work something out, I'll work around you as I've been unavailable despite good intentions!

Also I'll be far less shit in the future. Promise.

I'm going to try and get as many of my games (both current and future) out of the way as possible if that's OK, I'm imminently going to have to send my fightpad back to Amazon with no replacement hence I want to plough through loads before I'm without it.

Good games, close potatoes etc. Got caught out by the speed of that Cannon Spike plenty, and don't think I managed to tech a single throw in the first two bouts!

Good Randoms too - that missed Balrog Ultra broke my heart and the multiple failed kara-TU's with Sagat were fairly tragic on my part too. Was it just my sleep deprived mind or were the randoms not that random at all? I felt like we got the same bout loads.

Sorry I didn't play the second leg - I was crazy tired and I get up at 0600h so didn't fancy trying to concentrate - forgot about the pad situation.

There was one random that came up twice on the trot, and you had Honda about a million times. Random my arse! I really need to learn how to play a few more characters, Guile I don't know what to do with and as for Zangief and especially Gen, jesus fucking christ! That final deciding round of the match I had a great gameplan and completely fucked it up, I was supposed to be sneakily FADC'ing all my specials when you blocked them but with a combination of either missing it or trying it without meter it just meant I got a royal kicking :D

Bloody hell, another loss! Told you it wouldn't last :D Had my home and away matches in one go and really enjoyed them all and they turned out pretty damn close all the way through, I seemed to have a bit more success against goz's Ryu than I did against his Ken, so I'm thankful for small mercies. Great stuff, thanks for the games! Not 100% if it was in the main matches but I was a bit gutted that an ultra hitting a focus attack caused a single hit knockdown rather than giving the full force, that might've changed things a bit...
