The film doesn't need a sequel. Everything is done and concluded nicely in ID4.

Except didn't you wonder - the ships crashed, etc...yet there was bound to be Alien survivors too. With technology. I'm guessing plenty of their smaller ships escaped the bigger ships going down.

It would make a boring Guerilla war though ^_^

it's MTV, artistic integrity really isn't their game.

it will probably happen - 2012 will do a metric shit-ton of business so the studios will be all over catastrophe movies like white on rice. fuck knows what the plot will be - the original is played out - aliens attack, humans fight back, humans win. what else is there? humans lose?

it always tickled me that ID4 can be seen as white, middle America's greatest fear - a black man and a Jewish guy saving not only America but the planet. imagine the rage!

I was thinking more along the line of them somehow taking the war back to the home planet of the aliens or something. I know ID4 has its critics, but it's perfectly good popcorn material.

I can't believe the guy writing that article is championing the cringe-inducing presidential speech as the highlight of the original. :)

It was last time I saw it, pissed up to the nines on Hurricanes and fruit punch on 4th of July with a couple of Americans. Many a LOL ensued.

We made a drinking game of... something. I think it was every time something stupid happened or was said. I can't really remember much of it.

It was something like, "every time someone says something awesome, or really patriotic". We were blitzed before Big Willie kaiboshed his first space bastard.

ID4-Ever Plot Synopsis

Fifteen years have passed since the attempted invasion of Earth. Scavenging from the wreckage of the alien saucers, humanity has replicated the alien technology that so nearly destroyed us and built a war armada of our own. With our survival ensured, there is still the matter of vengeance to take care of.

Admiral Will Smith leads the saucer fleet into deep space in search of the aliens' home world, to revisit the devastation they caused in kind. However, the search is not as easy as anticipated, as space is a very big place. With the fleet's resources depleting rapidly, Smith sets course for a civilised world in the hope of securing supplies.

This world is lush, and replete with fuel and food that the humans can use. Unfortunately, negotiations with the inhabitants do not go well. The humans and natives do not share a tongue, besides which the far-from-home expeditionary force has nothing to trade. The admiral is faced with an impossible choice, as the saucers have no hope even of limping to another system, but it is clear they will not be able to take the resources they need through any diplomatic means. With extreme reluctance, he gives the order to fire the beam weapons...
