Independence Day: Resurgence - Goldblum Returns June 24th 2016

I really hope they actually make it a bit more 'whole world' than the first one, the celebrating around the world shots at the end of the last one were bordering on racist. I've not seen the trailer yet btw, so this might be quite obvious in the trailer, just the first thing that came to mind when I saw the bump.

It's looking much better than I thought it would. Suitably epic.

"Which part?"

"All of it."

I didn't think that line worked. "which part?" is a strange question to ask. What was he expecting the reply to be? And who cares what part? It was a set up just for the 'all of it' line but felt clunky.

Reminds me of terminator 2 where (I think) sarah asks John how many cops there are and he's like "err all of them" - that line worked and is funny and cool.

Looks like large parts of London get squashed, so based on ID4's treatment of anything non-American, expect plummy-toned chaps with bad teeth running about screeching about how frightfully ghastly all this extraterrestrial business is and hoping those terrific Yankie fellows have a way to help the Queen.

I like that despite the fact that London was presumably destroyed like every other big city in the original film, we happened to rebuild it in a way so that it looks just like it does now. In time for it to get destroyed again, by having Dubai dropped on it.

Wow that looks really bad. ID was a guilty pleasure so to speak so I was quite looking forward to this. Best description would be that the effects look... Muddy. It reminds me of the effects mess you get in the Transformers films.

I really don't understand trailers like this where the entire movie is laid out and key plot scenes are shown. Is it a lack of faith in the movie itself that they feel the need to explain the entire plot?

Will still watch it in 3D and on D-Box seats though.

To be fair, the plot of Independence Day probably doesn't even fill 2 minutes. All about showing off the SFX and Goldblum's quipping.

Great shout on the D-Box, never tried them and this film will be perfect for popping my cherry. As it were.

Ideally this will have a twist after an hour or so where America is completely wiped from the face of the earth and all the American characters brutally killed.

Except maybe one, who will fail in his task during a key moment of the last gambit, condemning the rest of the planet to a hideous future under Alien occupation.

Nevermind, sort of. Wow. They tried really hard to make that dumber than it needed to be.

It was fun enough, but they were actively appealing to how dumb this franchise is rememberd. They went out of their way big time.
