The steam christmas sale has BEGUN

So it says the sale is "Through January 3rd". Does that mean the sale ends at the END of January 3rd? Meaning there is another sale day tomorrow? If so, I'll hold out for another day and see what the last daily offers are, before I make my final purchases before the overall sale ends.

I'm wondering that too! I mean it says "Get ready for a new set of deals when the timer reaches zero!" still so that might mean there are still more tomorrow.

Also at the top it's "Premier Deals through January 3rd!"

First painkiller alright? I read it's a dumb repetitive shooter with hordes of enemies instead of puzzles, physics, or story. How satisfying are the weapons?

Painkiller wrote the book on satifying weapons - see here...

http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/vie...n/57-Painkiller (Note the good old days of proper music in ZP!!)

All you really need is the Black Edition tho - and that's just £2.99 right now.

Painkiller Resurrection appears to be a rather odd thing - and I quote (no really I do - read this carefully!!)

Developed by Homegrown Games with former developers and modders from the previous Painkiller games in collaboration with Studio Med-Art and with a Catholic priest advising, Painkiller Resurrection combines rock-hard, no-frills action and an exciting story with painstakingly researched details.

Holy Holy!

There is one more day of deals - this is your clue-and-a-half.

As with weekend deals, it will end sometime Monday afternoon - possibly as late as 5 but I'd not chance that were I yuo...

Original Painkiller was really good fun. No-nonsense shooting, it looked good, had some crazy weapons and settings. The second was the same but with added annoying voice-acting and technical issues. I'd have the third for £3 but at a tenner that's too much for what it is.

Might as well ask here as it's a daft question and I'm sure one of you kind lot can answer it quickly. I added Mr Gerbik and his name is under Invitation on my friends list on Steam. He says he never received any invitation and then tried to add me. We are both under 'Invitation' in each others friends list yet there's no option to accept invitation etc. I then decided to delete him and try and readd him and now it says there's a problem with adding him. I am seriously confused as to how Steams friends system works, this is a time when I appreciate Lives simplicity

Oh man, SFIV PC is a laggy piece of shit compared to the 360 one. A 3 or 4 bar game is usually playable on the 360- on the PC anything less than full five is genuinely unplayable- horrible, horrible, horrible. Input lag way way worse than the 360 on the same bar connection and lots more slowdown. I'll use it just for practise mode and playing dogsout or anyone from here, but otherwise glad I only paid £7 for it. Horrible netcode.

Painkiller Resurrection is the worst game I've spent money on in the last ten years. It's basically been brought to a barely-playable alpha state and sent out to die by the publisher. It crashes and glitches constantly, the multiplayer barely works, the co-op mode isn't even functional, and the whole thing is unbelievably shite. I foolishly bought it sight unseen as part of one of Steam's earlier Painkiller deals and bitterly regret it.

The original game, though, is brilliant, you can go ahead and buy that with full confidence.

I'm sure it was great but on day one I was still stuck with a measly Win98 700mhz laptop which could barely run the first Half Life

Lol, my computer could't play it at the time. I went round to a friends who raved about his rig. Still had enough graphical issues. Crazy isn't it. Although we played the crap out it. Man, the first time you get out of the station and look at the city :P

Tomorrow I am thinking of splashing my cash towards these items:

Eidos Collector Pack

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut

LucasArts Adventure Pack

Penumbra Collector Pack

The Void

Time Gentlemen, Please! and Ben There, Dan That! Double Pack

Garry's Mod

Has anyone played Penumbra or the Void? Been reading about them on meta critic and wikipedia but want some forum opinions about them.

I wonder what the last day of sale from Steam will bring

Penumbra is strangely very creepy. it's a bit crude, sometimes things don't work entirely properly, using some items in the first game is a bit retarded, but for whatever I paid for it I enjoyed it immensely. There's some fun puzzles, the story is alright, and it's a lot creepier than a lot of games that are... more well made.

Gah, I have bought a ton of stuff over this sale including:

- Chronicles of Riddick

- Elder Scrolls: Morrowind

- Ghostbusters

- Gothic 3

- Prototype

- Shattered Horizon

- Torchlight

- Star Wars: Battlefront 2

- Red Faction 2

and all that lot (the majority of which were released in 2009) came to just under £60. Well worth it considering most were released at £35 new. Shame its coming to an end though...

So is C&C Red Alert 3 worth the sale? I downloaded the demo. I like it. Sort of. It looks like a lot of fun and has quite a bit of character with its cheesy FMV and anime-style tranformer robot tanky things.

However I downloaded the demo, did the rather limited tutorial, then tried the first campaign and it sort of overwhelms me. The tutorial barely teaches you anything and I'm hopelessly confused and have been wiped out a couple of times. I see what I'm doing wrong from a walkthrough, I'm just wondering if I'm just rubbish and not cut out for RTS. I never really ever played RTS and should probably stick to stuff like settlers.

I think I'd enjoy it if I knew what I was doing though, does it become clearer?
